THE
Winter 2021
y r r e M as! m t s i r Ch
The office teams would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Throughout 2021 you have all gone above and beyond to ensure our clients continue to receive an outstanding level of care and for that we really cannot thank you enough. We’d like to say a special
shout out to all of you who are continuing to work hard over the Christmas period, it is hugely appreciated. Enjoy the festivities, hopefully you will all get to spend some quality time with loved ones, here’s to 2022, Merry Christmas!
Glowing feedback from the inspector As you may be aware, we had a Care Quality Commission inspection at Home Instead York in September. The inspection report has now been published and you can read it here on the CQC website:
https://www.cqc.org.uk/ location/1-357169438 Our inspector was very
keen that I pass onto everyone who works for Home Instead York that you have done an incredible job over the last 18 months. She has rated us ‘Outstanding’ in response to the question “is the service caring?” and ‘Good’ in response to the other 4 areas around being safe, effective, well-led and responsive. Comments from clients’
relatives include describing CAREGivers as “absolutely amazing”, “consistently fantastic” and as “going above and beyond”. It’s truly reassuring to read quotes from clients’ families such as “They are very sensitive when it comes to personal care and they always make sure that [my relative] is happy with what they are doing and that
they maintain their dignity at all times.” I was both delighted with and proud of the glowing feedback that the inspector gave us as an organisation. Thank you for the contribution you have made individually and collectively to achieving that.

Festive gifts It’s been lovely seeing all of you pop into the office over the last couple of weeks to collect your Christmas gifts! We really appreciate you helping us distribute gifts and Christmas cards to all our clients. Seeing the smiles on their faces from some of the photos you have

sent in has been great, knowing we have contributed to bringing them a little bit of festive joy, so many thanks to you, for helping us achieve that! Here’s a selection of clients from both offices receiving their gifts and Christmas cards designed by local school children.
With the cases of Covid-19 appearing to be on the rise yet again, we wanted to remind you about the importance of wearing full PPE during client visits to help protect you and your clients.
You should be wearing face masks for all calls unless alternative arrangements have been discussed and agreed with the office. A reminder that the office will be shut on
Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th December. We would recommend that if you need to pick up additional PPE before Christmas, you contact the office so we can prepare what is needed ASAP.
CAREGiver of the Year for 2021! During November, the team put together a list of five nominees for our CAREGiver of The Year award using feedback gathered from clients and their family members, discussions amongst the office team and praise given by you for your colleagues, using our online praise platform, praiseworthy. It was incredibly difficult to decide upon just five people who we wanted to put forward as our nominees for our York ‘CAREGiver of The Year’, and we’d like to take this opportunity thank you all for your incredible hard work over the course of the last 12 months. After much discussion, the five nominees were: Jane Foleher, Kristine Horrocks, Julia Cox, Janet Wynn and Catherine Rawlinson. All five nominees we’re more than worthy winners of the overall title, but we decided upon one person who we felt over the past year has really gone that extra mile to bring a little joy to the lives of her clients. That person, our CAREGiver of the Year for 2021, is Julia Cox!
Julia started with Home Instead York in early 2021 after almost 35 years of working in the hospitality sector. From day one she made a huge impression with all her clients bringing her fun filled personality along with her to each visit. Julia has danced and sang her way through 2021, bringing plenty of smiles to the faces of all her clients throughout. Huge congratulations to Julia on being award our ‘CAREGiver of The Year’ title, she will now be put forward to Home Instead national office, as our nomination for the national CAREGiver of the Year award.
