The office team would like to wish all our wonderful CAREGivers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. In a year that has been like nothing we have experienced before, you have all gone above and beyond to ensure our clients continue to receive an outstanding level of care throughout and for that we cannot thank you enough. We’d like to say a special shout out to all of you who are
December 2020
continuing to work hard over the Christmas period, it really is hugely appreciated. Enjoy the festivities and hopefully you will all get to spend some time with loved ones, whether that’s in person or over Zoom! Here’s to a better 2021,
Merry Christmas!
Christmas Jumper Day It was fantastic seeing so many of you getting involved in National Christmas Jumper Day, a huge thank you to all of you who sent in a selfie, there were some great ones! For each picture sent in we donated £2 to the Bring Joy Foundation, a charity which aims to ‘Bring Joy’ to elderly people within the community. In total we raised £50.
Paul gets into the Christmas spirit jumper Client Paul has been getting into the Christmas spirit. He donned his finest festive jumper for #NationalChristmasJumperDay, doesn’t he look dapper? Not only that, but he’s also been creating his own Christmas decorations to put up on his tree and around the house! Amazingly, this is the first time Paul has had a Christmas tree and made decorations since he was a boy. It makes us incredibly proud knowing we have been involved in helping him do this again this year. Special thanks should go out to his CAREGivers, Ema and Barbara who have helped Paul decorate and rekindle that festive spirit!
BIG
A Thank you
It was lovely seeing all of you pop in over the last week or so to collect your Christmas gifts. We also really appreciate you helping us distribute gifts to all our clients. Seeing the smiles on their faces from some of the photos you have sent in has been really nice, knowing we can contribute to a little bit of festive joy. So many thanks to you for helping us achieve that. Here’s just a selection of clients with gifts and a few of you guys who were snapped while in the office!
Congratulations to Shirley our PEAQ winner Huge thank you to everyone who completed our satisfaction survey PEAQ last month. The results will be with us in the New Year but, the feedback you have given will help us make decisions on matters that will hopefully improve your life as a CAREGiver. Everyone who did complete the survey was added into a prize draw to win a £25 voucher. The lucky winner was Shirley Craven, who popped into see us this month to pick up her prize! Congratulations Shirley!
There may yet be further winners as all of you who completed an entry were added into a national prize draw to win 1 of 5 £1000 shopping vouchers. This will be drawn in the New Year, so keep an eye out to see if we have any national winners!
So Long , Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye Our lovely Training and Development Co-ordinator Rachel will be leaving us at the end of the year. Rachel is pregnant with her first child and has decided to step back from her role to concentrate on becoming a mum. It’s big congratulations to her and her husband Chris and we wish them all the best for what will be a momentous 2021 for them. Rachel was our first dedicated trainer and we are currently in the process of recruiting so that we can carry on the great work that Rachel started with My Learning Cloud and the development of opportunities she has been able to offer. We will bring you news on her replacement in the near future.
Cancer Champion Awareness Sessions
Zoflora Girl 2020?
We had a very generous donation of 300 bottles of disinfectant from Zoflora, delivered earlier in the month. Hopefully you all managed to pick up a bottle when you came in to collect Christmas gifts over the last couple of weeks. If anyone is yet to get a bottle, make sure you come into the office to pick one up. We were thinking of putting Emma forward as our nomination for the #ZofloraGirl2020, what do you all think?
You will have seen in last month’s Companion, that Lorna and Kerry completed a ‘Cancer Champions’ awareness session, meaning they are now ‘Cancer Champions’. We are delighted to announce that we are now able to roll out the Cancer Champions awareness session to all CAREGivers. With the help of Sarah Patten, who works for Humber, Coast & Vale Cancer Alliance as well as being a part time CAREGiver with us at Home Instead York, we have set up some online Cancer Champion Awareness Sessions specifically for Home Instead CAREGivers. You can book on one of the upcoming sessions by clicking on the link (below) or scanning the QR code and selecting the date and time that suits you. The 90 minute session will give you the confidence and knowledge to have life-saving conversations about cancer, and everyone who completes the course will receive a copy of a virtual handbook, certificate and a badge to show you have taken part. We really hope you will take up this opportunity to book yourselves onto this valuable additional training opportunity.
