Welcome Home Jack
It’s great to have Jack back from his travels. We’ve loved following him on tour and enviously looking at his amazing photos but we are all thrilled to have him back in the office. Let’s hope that you haven’t forgotten what to do around here! It’s back to it now Jack. No more sun, sea and sand. Just spreadsheets, scheduling and Home Instead Senior Care! We’ve missed you, welcome back!
Home Instead York welcomes four new CAREGivers to the team! We’ve had a great start to the New Year welcoming four fantastic new members of staff who joined us for our 3 day CAREGiver Introduction programme. The course supplies them with all the training needs required to start providing care to our clients in the near future. Best of luck guys and welcome to the team!
Meeting new clients Meeting new clients can be an anxious time for both the CAREGiver and the client. Unless it has been requested by the client there should always be an introduction in place either before or at the first meeting. It is also always vitally important that you have received and read the Care Plan in plenty of time before your first visit to familiarise yourself with the client and their needs/requirements. If you have a new client on your schedule that you haven’t met then please give the office a call to check that an introduction is planned and to request a copy of the Care Plan.
Home Instead Golden Girls Many congratulations to our new ‘Gold Club Members’, Helen, Julie and Carol. The ‘Golden Girls’ recently called into the office where they were presented with well deserved flowers, chocolates and dining vouchers. Helen is celebrating 8 years’ service and Julie and Carol 5 years’ service with Home Instead York, what a fantastic
achievement! During their time as CAREGivers they have supported many regular clients and have become invaluable members of our team and are well loved by their clients. We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for all their hard work and dedication, we are really proud to have them as part of our ‘outstanding’ team of CAREGivers!
Rachel – York team’s new addition and environmental charities, national government and private businesses to train and support development of staff and I am really excited to have the opportunity to support you in this way as you continue your incredible work supporting our clients. Every month I will be sending out a little update in the newsletter about new learning opportunities or projects that are being rolled out for you. If you have any requests or suggestions, I am all ears so don’t hesitate to contact me in the office or on rachel.wood@ hiscyork.co.uk I look forward to getting to know you all. Rachel Y first project to support your personal development is to make sure that the My Learning Cloud platform is fit for purpose and full of great e-learning training and useful documentation on a variety of topics. This will become the way you can request, complete and record training that you have done. You may have seen several changes on the site recently if you log in regularly, and if you haven’t seen, it’s worth logging in and having a look for the opportunity to suggest information you would like to see in the future. As part of our continued commitment to providing staff with ongoing training and access to all the employee benefits and support, we are re-launching our My Learning Cloud platform to replace and enhance the old CAREGiver Support Website. This is to help us get more opportunities and information out to you, to give you control over accessing new information
and allow you to request to join a number of courses/information sessions/meetings that we will have available to staff over the coming months and into the future. Over the next few weeks there will be more added to this site and we would love you to get involved from the beginning to really shape what this looks like for you.
M Hello! My name is Rachel and I am the new addition to the office team at HISC York. I started at the beginning of January 2020. My role is to support, empower and encourage you through training, your personal development and career growth, whatever that may look like for you. I am hugely passionate about making sure there is support there for you to achieve your career goals, and I will always love to chat with you about what this might mean for you. I have recently moved up from the South West of England with my husband and our 2 Labradors to make Yorkshire our home once again. I have previously worked alongside the NHS primary care and CCG, local council, veterans’
So, what do we need you to do? Firstly, we need you to log in! You can do this by using the web browser on your device of choice using the link:- https://hiscyork. mylearningcloud.org (The best display is via a computer or tablet screen, but it can be available via your internet application on your smart mobile phone.) Several of you have logged in already and that is fantastic! If you haven’t logged in in a while, or if you have never tried, you may want to request a reset link to access the website and change your password. Please request this by emailing rachel.wood@ hiscyork.co.uk
In case you weren’t already aware, I thought I would share the good news that we have decided to continue to make the caravan at Amble Links available. When we made the decision to stop at the end of 2018 it was due to lack of use and so it didn’t seem cost effective, but then 2019 was a different story and lots of the team ventured to Amble and the feedback has been amazing, so we decided we should continue to make it available to all of you.
Northumberland and Amble hold lots of fantastic memories for me and my family and I’m glad you’ll be able to continue to make your own family memories there as part of the Home Instead team. The diary isn’t available for bookings yet as we plan to have blinds fitted in the lounge area and have a spring clean! We’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready for bookings.

Exclusive CAREGiver Holiday Home It’s our aim to be the care provider of choice in York, Scarborough & Ryedale, whether it is for people working in care or for those receiving care. That’s why we bought the holiday home at Amble Links for the people who do an amazing job supporting Home Instead Senior Care clients. As well as the incredible beaches and castles of Northumberland on the doorstep, there’s a pool and gym together with a pub and restaurant on site – everything you need for a relaxing break. There’s no rental cost to use the holiday home – this is one of the benefits of being part of the Home Instead team.
