Luke’s 300 miles for Alzheimer’s Society Luke Norbury, Director of Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale, last month completed a bike ride from London to Paris with the final leg of his ride on Saturday 13th May. It was a 300 mile ride, after 95 miles from London to Dover on Day 1, Luke developed tendonitis in his knee so the remaining 3 days were painful! For some reason, he thought northern France was flat – he now knows it is not! Lots of people were kind enough to donate when Luke originally planned to do the ride last year, however, due to an injury, the ride had to be rescheduled. Luke was doing the ride to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to us at Home Instead Senior Care as we provide support for people who have Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia on a daily basis.
We would like to wish a massive congratulations to our scheduler Charlene and her husband Marc who last month had their wedding day. It looked like a wonderful day and evening, and the rain even managed to hold off for the majority of it as well!
It was Luke’s father-in-law John Roche who originally inspired him to do the ride. He has vascular dementia and although he has coped well, it’s not the way any of us would choose to live out our later lives. It would be fantastic if you could help make Luke feel that the dodgy knee, and the incredibly sore backside he acquired over the 300 miles from London to Paris, has helped contribute to the work that the Alzheimer’s Society is doing to find a cure and to find ways to improve the lives of people who are already living with some form of dementia. If you would like to donate, please visit Luke’s Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Luke-Norbury2 Luke funded the cost of the ride so every penny you donate goes straight to the charity. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

A big PEAQ thank you Earlier this month we invited all our CAREGivers in to the office, to complete our annual survey PEAQ, (Pursuing Excellence by Advancing Quality). The anonymous survey run by an independent research company Smith and Henderson, has now become an annual event with all Home Instead Franchises. We encouraged both our clients, and CAREGivers to do the PEAQ survey as we use it as an important tool to see ways in which we could be improving our service, training and support needs. This year, we even had our very own ‘PEAQ n Mix’ for CAREGivers to help themselves to, and a £25 gift voucher up for grabs to one lucky winner as well. Thank you to all of you who came in and completed the PEAQ and for those who encouraged clients to do so as well. Keep an eye out as we will be announcing the gift card winner shortly!
