Congratulations guys!

Book your ticket with the office team as soon as possible. Partners are welcome but will need to pay the full price. Places need to be confirmed by Monday 15th October 2018.
Results You may remember earlier in the year, we got you into the office during ‘PEAQ Week’ to complete our independent annual survey PEAQ. We had the results back last month, and we would like to share some of the highlights with you. Over the coming weeks you will see some further feedback from these in ways in which we will be looking to improve your CAREGiver experience.
Pursuing Excellence by Advancing Quality
CAREGiver Facebook Group For those of you who are on Facebook, but aren’t currently aware, we have got our very own private Team Facebook Group. It’s a great way of sharing interesting stories, and CAREGiver related information. If you’re not yet involved, let Jack know and he will add you to the group!
Julia collects CAREGiver of the Year prize Last month Home Instead York & Ryedale announced Julia was their CAREGiver of the year. Despite only joining Home Instead in October last year, Julia made an instant impression on Home Instead and all her clients. She epitomises what they look for in a CAREGiver, getting on quietly in the role but never failing to go that extra mile for those she cares for. Julia popped in to the office earlier this month to pick up her flowers and voucher, here she is pictured with Home Instead York & Ryedale’s owner Luke!
Well done Julia!
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman is simply charming and you’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll feel a new sympathy for the curmudgeons in your life! Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet. He thinks himself surrounded by idiot joggers, neighbours who can’t reverse a trailer properly and shop assistants who talk in code. Ove has an unswerving conviction about what the world should be and a lifelong dedication to making it just so. In the end, you will see, there is something about Ove that is quite irresistible. If you’d like to borrow this book, contact Karen in the office. If you have read something recently that you would like to recommend we add to the resource, let Karen know.
Don’t forget the clocks will be going back one hour at 2am on Sunday, 28 October, meaning you will get one extra hour in bed! Please makes sure you remind clients to change their clocks, and why not use this as a reminder to check smoke alarms in the house?
‘Twiddle Mitts’ kindly donated
We have had a kind donation of ‘Twiddle Mitts’ which we will be handing out to our clients over the next few weeks. The knitted mitts have buttons, beads and other objects sewn in to offer a calming distraction to those with dementia. The Mitts also have the added bonus of keeping your hands warm!
Carol’s Advice
Meeting new clients can be an anxious time for both CAREGiver and Client. Unless requested by the client there should be an introduction in place before the first meeting. It is also vitally important that you have had and read the care plan in good time before your first visit. If you are scheduled to visit a new client you haven’t met, give the office a call to check that an introduction is planned and to request a Care Plan.
