David’s trip to the coast… Our CAREGiver Gill recently took her client David to Filey for the day, she sent us this great picture from a local Fish & Chip restaurant. What better way to spend your time on the coast, than with some Fish & Chips, and a nice cold pint? Have you been out on any trips with your clients recently? Send us your pictures across of what you’ve been up to!

Tip for the month Brighten that corner Place a glass vase in dark, shadowy corners with a few bright blooms to reflect light and make a a room feel brighter.

inga wins ‘bags on tour’ Competition The end is here... With Summer coming to a close, so must unfortunately, our ‘Bags on Tour’ competition. Many thanks to all those who sent in entries, we had some great ones from far and wide. There can only be one winner though. Getting her hands on a £25 voucher is CAREGiver Inga, who sent us this amazing snap from her wedding destination of Mauritius. I’m sure you can agree, it’s a worthy winner!

Carolyn Scoops £1,000 National Prize Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale’s CAREGiver Carolyn, was one of five lucky national winners to get their hands on a £1,000 shopping voucher. Carolyn won the voucher after taking part in our recent annual Employee Satisfaction Questionnaire (PEAQ). The questionnaire, designed to help Home Instead become the employer of choice, is an anonymous survey which gives staff their chance to give feedback on how we can improve. For every employee who completed the survey locally, their name was entered into a national prize draw to win £1,000 of LOVE2SHOP vouchers, of which Carolyn was one of five lucky winners. Carolyn is hoping to spend her vouchers on organising a trip to New York later in the year. Enjoy!

Linda donates books for CAREGivers to enjoy Earlier this month was #ReadABookDay, and what better day to introduce you to one of our lovely clients who has her very own story to tell. Linda, a client of Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale since 2015, is a published author, compiler, and an editor of children’s books. Here she is with Titus’s Troublesome Tooth, a children’s book written by her in the year 2000! Linda has very kindly donated us some of her books to lend out to our CAREGivers, to read to their children and grandchildren!

The Memory Activity Book – has over 70 brain stimulating activities and practical projects to help those with memory impairment or dementia. The book takes you through step by step instructions, suggests how activities can be adapted and the benefits of each activity. Great for getting your clients motivated and inspired. If you’d like to borrow the book, contact Karen in the office. If you have read something recently that you would like to recommend we add to the resource, let Karen know.

Memory Walk raises over £250 for Alzheimer’s On Saturday 1st September, Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale entered a team to complete the Memory Walk at the York Knavesmire. The aim of the walk was to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society, so they can continue their research into Dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society’s research programme aims to improve care for people with dementia today, and finding a cure for tomorrow. Home Instead have already raised over £250 for the Alzheimer’s Society from the walk, however, it’s not too late to still donate! If you’d be interested in sponsoring, they have set up a Just Giving page here: http://www.justgiving.com/owner-email/ pleasesponsor/HOMEINSTEAD-YORKRYEDALE
