Dementia-Friendly Screening in York City Screen’s Dementia-Friendly Screening will take place on Monday 25th February showing MAMMA MIA (Sing Along) at 1.15pm. Donna (Meryl Streep), an independent hotelier in the Greek islands, is preparing for her daughter’s wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile Sophie, the spirited bride, has a plan. She secretly invites three men from her mother’s past in hope of meeting her real father and having him escort her down the aisle on her big day. City Screen will serve complimentary tea, filter coffee and biscuits upstairs in the Sky Lounge from 12.45pm. If you would like a wheelchair space, please do inform Cath Sharp at the cinema as spaces are limited. (cath.s@ picturehouses.co.uk) Dementia-Friendly Screenings are open to all but especially suited for people with dementia and their family, friends and carers. Book for Mamma Mia on 0871 902 5726, or online at www.picturehouses.co.uk or in person at City Screen at the Coney Street Box Office.

Home Instead welcomes four new CAREGivers to the team Last month we held our first new CAREGiver Introduction programme of the year. Four fantastic new members of staff joined us for the 3 day course, supplying them with all the training needs required to start providing care to our clients in the near future. Also in attendance was a special guest, Mac, a trainee guide dog who joined us with his trainer, Helen. Mac sat patiently throughout and we think he would make a superb CAREGiver himself!

ÂŁ80 raised for Save the Children The team at Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale took part in the National Christmas Jumper Day in December 2018. The aim of the day was to raise money for the charity, Save the Children. Home Instead York & Ryedale tasked their CAREGivers and office staff to send across pictures of them sporting their finest festive knits. For each picture received, they would donate money to the National Christmas Jumper Day charity, Save the Children. There were some great images sent across, and in total Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale managed to raise ÂŁ80 for the Save the Children charity.
