Successful launch of the Companionship Café The first Home Instead Companionship Café held in The Bothy at Dean’s Garden Centre proved a big hit! Thank you to everyone who attended, it was lovely to meet with you all. The aim of the Café is to encourage older people to get out and socialise, make new friends and get involved with fun activities. We are delighted to get involved and work alongside the team at The Bothy in Dean’s Garden Centre. Everyone who attends will be greeted by our friendly Home Instead staff and CAREGivers and made to feel welcome. It’s a lovely environment and a great place to make new friends! We feel it is important to create an environment where people have a regular meeting place they can visit for companionship as loneliness can be very difficult for the elderly. Simply having a chat over a cuppa can make all the difference and enrich a life! Come along to the next meeting on Monday 14th

October – a couple of attendees from our first meeting are keen artists and have very kindly offered to show some of their art work to the rest of the group. Why not play dominoes and cards, or just have a cuppa and a chat. The choice is yours! The meeting is very informal and there is no cost apart from the refreshments you would like to purchase. Everyone who attends will be given a raffle ticket for a chance to win a drink and a cake of their choice. The next meeting dates are: Monday 14th October, Monday 11th November and Monday 9th December. Meeting time is 10.00am to 11.30am The Bothy, Dean’s Garden Centre, Stockton Lane, Stockton-on-the-Forest, York YO32 9UE. It would be lovely to see some new faces! The Third Stair We have some exciting news which we would like to share with you. On October 1st Home Instead Senior Care’s very first national TV campaign will go live and will help to showcase the importance of helping older people to stay at home where they feel happiest, for longer. At Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale we’re proud to provide care which is completely person-centred and has our clients at the heart of all we do. That’s why we’re excited to be able to showcase Home Instead care through our CAREGiver Christine and client Stanley. The concept of the advert, which will be shown on channels such as ITV, Channel Four, Five and Sky, focuses on what makes a house feel like ‘home’. For our client Stanley, the ‘creaky’ Third Stair in his home is what reminds him of his late wife Margaret and the cherished memories he has there. We’re also proud that another version of the advert will show Christine’s story and what she enjoys about working as a CAREGiver. Please do follow us on social media where you will also be able to see copies of the advert. https://www.facebook.com/homeinsteadyork/ Our ageing population means that more and more older people need support and we’re hopeful that our campaign will reach more people with the message that help is out there.

Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale gets thumbs up from clients Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale has been given the thumbs up by its clients, according to a satisfaction survey. To ensure we are delivering on what we promise at Home Instead Senior Care, we gather feedback through an independent survey of our clients and CAREGivers and we would like to share some of these results with you. More than 5,000 CAREGivers and 5,000 clients across the UK were questioned as part of the independent survey by Work Buzz. Topics ranged from the training and support available to CAREGivers through to how well the client felt matched to their CAREGiver. We understand that home is where the heart is and that, given the choice, people prefer to remain at home surrounded by their cherished memories. We’re passionate about raising awareness of home care services, particularly at a time when hospitals and health services face increasing strain. At Home Instead Senior Care, we want to ensure our clients enjoy living happy and fulfilled lives at home in receipt of the very best home care service there can be. Care is delivered by familiar faces as our CAREGivers are matched to their clients based on shared interests and, as our calls are a minimum of one hour, we have time to care with dignity. You can refer to Home Instead with confidence, knowing that we excel at providing high quality care as part of a reputable, thoughtful and trustworthy company. If you would like more information about Home Instead and the services we provide, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Telephone 01904 690884.

Home Instead York & Ryedale CAREGiver Barbara enjoys gardening in her spare time and spends a lot of time on her allotment. She takes all her clients something that she’s grown and this year was able to take them all an apple.

Facebook group brings a little help The York Access and Mobility Club is a Facebook group whose aim is to bring together everyone in York with a need for a little help in getting out and about in our beautiful city, including those who use, or are thinking about using any type of mobility aid, from a simple walking stick to a wheelchair or mobility scooter. The group offers the chance to share advice, ideas and support on all things mobility, including ideas that may assist around the house as well as out and about. It will also be a place to raise concerns regarding accessibility

issues in York and maybe even create a strong enough voice to effect the changes needed. It will give us the opportunity to share names of accessible shops, cafés and other venues as well as highlighting those that need to improve if they would like to get our custom. If you are aware of someone who might like to be a part of this group, then please tell them to search Facebook for The York Access and Mobility Club. tead Home Ins
