Nice veg Roisheen! Roisheen, our green fingered Community Development Officer, has been busy in her allotment recently. She currently grows a wide range of vegetables, including marrows and cucumbers, which she brought in for us, and just look at the size of them! Why not encourage your clients to get into the garden to sow some seeds and plants, after all, it’s a great way of keeping active!

A big thank you A big thank you to everyone who was able to help out with extra calls over the last few months to cover the summer holidays. We do appreciate everyone’s willingness to pick up calls when we are facing our busiest times, we couldn’t get through it without your support. We do hope that you all had a super summer. Many thanks, Carol & Charlene x

What did you do at the weekend? Our recruiter, Karen, entered her Weimaraner Shadow into her local Scrufts Competition and not only did he get a gold medal for Handsome Lad (and very handsome he is too) but more of a surprise was his performance in the Best Trick category when he got silver with his high five trick! Well done Shadow. Got a story to tell us for next month’s issue? Just contact Jack.

Friday ring around Just to make you all aware after much consideration we will be stopping with the Friday ring around. We feel now there are enough methods available to you to access schedules, so the time has come to stop this. The main method of accessing schedules should be through the online portal. If anyone is still struggling to access theirs, please contact Andy ASAP. You will all still continue to get your daily text and weekly email alerts, but If for some reason these are not working correctly please also make us aware. If anyone is still unsure of their schedule over the weekend we will be happy to still run through it with you, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Silver Sunday Silver Sunday is a national celebration of older people and their contribution to communities. Through a variety of free activities, Silver Sunday offers people over 65 a chance to keep active in body and spirit, try new things, meet their neighbours and, ultimately, overcome loneliness. Silver Sunday was launched in 2012 by The Sir Simon Milton Foundation and Councillor Christabel Flight, after a report discovered more than a third of people over 75 said they were lonely. Silver Sunday 2016 is on Sunday 2nd October and set to be even bigger and better with events happening right across the UK. From concerts to museum tours, cycle rides to chocolate tastings, there will be something for everyone. Events will be posted on the website at www.silversunday.org.uk
