Greetings! Can you believe November is upon us? Just yesterday we were feeling the warm sun while dining al fresco in the Old Market. Now, it won’t be long before the holiday lights are gracing Village Pointe and we’re making sure our snow blowers are in working order. As if we already didn’t know this, time truly flies. Perhaps another reason it feels like time has moved so quickly is that we have been working diligently on launching our first-ever issue of “Home Life Style Magazine.” Finally, it is ready -- and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce it to you. HLS Magazine is Omaha’s new lifestyle direct mail advertising publication with a fun “twist”, giving you an insider’s look on many of Omaha’s premiere businesses, a who’s who of The Heartland, and so much more. In this first issue, we’re getting to know Omaha Symphony’s Music Director, Thomas Wilkinson, on a more personal basis. We also go behind the scenes in Benson to feature one of Omaha’s hottest new restaurants, Lot 2. Whether you use it as a resource for remodeling, entertaining, dining out, you’ll get your HLS issue every month in the mail so you can stay up on the latest. What’s more is that you have the opportunity to help shape each issue. If you have an interest in advertising or have tips about people, places, or products that we should know about, feel free to drop me a line: Stacey@ Omahamarketingsolutions.com.
Welcome to our first issue and stay warm!

Q: What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
A: I’m a big fan of the eating! The seasonal food and drink like eggnog, cranberry sauces, and, of course, ham and turkey is always a big plus.
Q: What is your favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving?
A: Turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayo and cranberry on wheat bread (hours after the traditional dinner is done).
Q: What are some holiday traditions that your family has?
A: We always have a live tree for starters. And, especially when the kids were younger, we’d spend time at the dinner table, after the meal reading through the Christmas story in the Bible, each taking a few verses to read aloud.
Q:
What’s your favorite Christmas song that would make the holidays incomplete if you didn’t hear it? A: “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”
Q:What is your favorite holiday memory?
A: It was early in our marriage, and Sheri-Lee and I were living in Richmond, Va. My wife was a physical therapist at a local rehab hospital. New to the staff, she was required to work on Christmas Day. This would have been her first Christmas away from family in Chicago. I managed, somehow, to convince her colleagues to give her a few days off, secretly bought plane tickets, and got her to the airport, making her think we were there to pick up an old friend. The combined look of shock and glee on her face sitting on the plane still brings joy to my heart all these years later. Perhaps the best part was the fact that her colleagues kept her name on the “rotation” board at the hospital, and also enjoyed being a part of the surprise!
