The trail is about 5.7 kilometers long and it takes only 25 minutes in a cable car to reach from one end to the other! As you ride along the cable car trail, you will be treated to the fantastic views of the Lantau Island and the South China Sea.While riding in the cable car, you will also get to see the Big Buddha. The Big Buddha, also known as the Tian Tan Buddha is made of bronze and was built in 1993. Devotees and pilgrims come from all over the world to worship here.

➢ Tai O: Situated on the tidal flats of the Lantau Island, Tai O is one the most picturesque places in Hong Kong. Tai O is still home to the quaint cultures of the Tanka people and the restaurants still serve the native seafood delicacies. The local markets bring in fresh seafood like prawns and fishes and the customers are also given a choice of dried and salted fishes or seafood pastes and sauces. Tai O is Rich in heritage and this is reflected in the beauty of the Tin Hau Temple which was first built in 1772. The heritage of Tai O is also preserved in the massive colonial building of the Tai O Heritage hotel. The hotel was previously the Tai O police station and even today it continues to lure visitors with the charming aura of the 19th century.

➢ Lantern Festival: Also known as the Mid Autumn festival, the lantern festival is celebrated between September and October, when the moon is at its fullest. This festival is one of the most vibrant and noisy celebrations where the locals take part in dragon dances and enjoy the traditions of eating mooncakes. Time is spent with families and friends and a number of social events are organized. From Victoria Park, you can view the beautifully crafted lanterns that are released, and also the dragon dance which features a 60 foot long dragon stuffed with more than a thousand incense sticks. The surroundings seem to be throbbing with energy and excitement as the jubilant crowd shifts through the streets during the festival.
