“Will I go deaf if I refuse to wear a hearing aid?” Dear Title Description Surname That's a question I’m asked all too often. And the simple answer is no. With or without a hearing aid, it’s unlikely that your hearing loss will lead to actual deafness. But then, that’s not the full story. There may be consequences. You see, for most people hearing loss is irreversible – and it can only get worse over time. The nerves that control your hearing will steadily erode, dulling their ability to channel sounds to the brain. So a small problem today could be more serious further down the line. Then there’s a second issue: auditory deprivation. The longer the delay, the harder it is for the brain to adapt. So over time, without stimulation, it starts to ‘forget’ common sounds...then even if your hearing problem is treated later on, your responses and reactions might not be as sharp as before.
“The test only took an hour or so. And it’s given me another chance to enjoy the things that matter, like “Medical holidays,check-ups family are an essential gatherings, dayspart out a healthyin. andofevenings lifestyle. There’s no doubt at I recommend all in my mindthat – it everyone takes up was time well spent” this opportunity to get their hearing checked NOW!”
As you’d expect, the impact of deprivation is different for everyone. But as a rule, the people who seek help early have the best chance of success.
