The Periwinkle Monthly July/August 2011
Sister Anne presenting the class with a certificate for being the class who sold the most number of coupons in the whole school!
Dear Parents I would like to congratulate everyone of you - PERIWINKLE came in tops in ticket sales competition for our Family Day Carnival 2011. A very big THANK YOU! once again for your generous support ... special thanks also go out to Max, Larissa, Robert James, Yun Khai, Michael, Eli, Ashley Tan, Linus and all from Periwinkle for your hard work in ticket sales, contributions and donations of food and cash and most of all for being there, also thank you to Jeina, Francisco and Bhumi for helping out at the Periwinkle stall. There was 100% attendance from Periwinkle - not just the children - but you, the parents as well - came out in full force - for the love of your kids! ... It was amazing and I am so proud of all of you. Congratulations also to our MSK Talent competitors, who did so well. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart. We are now in Term 3 and it has been an extremely exciting term with excursions to New Town Primary School and visit to the The Alexandra Fire Station. Our theme for this term is Occupations and Nocturnal Animals. This edition of the newsletter will feature lots of photographs of the children's visit to the primary school. In preparation of going to Primary One, they experienced buying food from the canteen and some stationery from the book shop. Some were very confident with their purchases whilst others needed some prompting. As you know, we have a 'snack-shop' in class, called 'Cuddles and Kisses' where the children are given the opportunity to practice buying things and even helping out as 'cashier' to familiarize themselves with the different denominations of coins and its value. We also would like to take this opportunity to say that "You'll be missed, Sybil." Sybil has left Maris Stella to be enrolled in a Kindergarten closer to home. The class of Periwinkle misses your singing and laughter and we would like you come back and visit us soon. We love you! Look out for our next newsletter ... it would feature our interview with some interesting professions. Page 1
Lots of love and loads of hugs, Ms Chrishirl
Excursion to New Town Primary School July 20 2011 In preparation for Primary 1, all the K2s got to experience primary school for a day during their excursion to New Town Primary School. The children bought their own food at the canteen, went to the library, visited the fish pond and even went to the gym and climbed the rock climbing wall!

Ah Kong’s Clock (continued from last issue)
I peered at the clock hands and found number ʻ3ʼ hanging upside down!
“Ah Kong, Ah Kong!” I exclaimed. “Come quick! Thereʼs something wrong with the clock!”
Ah Kong rushed over and gazed fondly at his old grandfather clock. He smiled and took a key out from a box.
First, he fixed the ʻ3ʼ back into position. Next, he wound the clock. Slowly, Mister Time started to marchTick-tock! Tick-tock! I was happy to see the smile back on its face!
Then Ah Kong said tenderly, “Time is precious, you can tell.” “And so are you, my little one. Live well.” Can you hear Ah Kongʼs clock singing again? Are you looking forward to what tomorrow brings?
Sybil We miss you!
Fun stuff we do in school
