A Diversity of Knowledge

hoopla and your library - Reflecting the world The role your library plays in everyday learning and discovery brings people together. Looking through the lens of each other’s stories builds a better understanding of one another. Through collections that reflect a diversity of people and ideas, libraries can provide access to multiple expressions through which a kaleidoscope of perspectives can be explored. With this Look Book, we aim to share a depth of content that supports your library’s important daily mission to better serve everyone through titles that reflect the wide array of stories, experiences, and viewpoints of the patrons in your community, as well as communities everywhere.

INDIGENOUS VOICES

More Representation and Access The CBC recently has recognized the “surge” in Indigenous materials being checked out all across Canada. There is a demand by library patrons for more work that honours and expresses the Indigenous experience, particularly created by Indigenous people themselves. Indigenous people want to see themselves reflected in the resources libraries have to offer, and people outside Indigenous communities should be made more aware of Indigenous issues and be able to learn from incredible Indigenous content. Here at hoopla we have curated collections to help support these imperatives.

From one of Canada’s most exciting voices comes an awardwinning book about Aboriginal adoption, loss and abandonment, and the complexities of identity.

“Lisa Bird-Wilson is a talented writer whose stories are deep and difficult, darkly amusing and always touching. Just Pretending is a collection that is not to be missed.” - PRISM

To participate in this community of reading, borrow Just Pretending now on hoopla and join the discussion. You can borrow it on hoopla instantly, with no holds or waiting!
