The components of STEAM—science, technology, engineering, art, and math—are the backbone of an education that encourages learning by doing, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and the creative process. By putting a large collection of STEAM titles at your patrons’ fingertips, hoopla can be a powerful tool for your library’s STEAM campaigns and programming. We know the vital role your library plays in your community. This year it’s more crucial than ever with educational plans still very much up in the air due to COVID-19. With parents, caregivers, and educators looking for new ways to reach students at all levels, hoopla is pleased to offer this year’s STEAM campaign as part of a number of homeschooling resources that can help bridge the gaps necessitated by social distancing. Speaking of COVID-19, we have been so inspired to see all the creative ways our library partners have found to reach out and continue providing service to their patrons. This year we’ve included a spotlight on how one library has incorporated materials from hoopla into their own STEAM programming to provide some ideas you might find useful.
