DATE WITH COLOR

They say the color red is for love Looking the streets for red, I do not see love. I see the red of a cup which means someone is having regrets today. I see the red of thrown out fast food boxes The red of caution, danger and warning signs I see the red of tags, frames and doors The red of signs that try to pull an emotion out of you Fear, hunger, excitement, hate I see the red that no one sees The mark on the pavement, the trash in the

RED grate, the paint over there

No one could be more aware of the color red right now, no one but me.

LOGO CREATION

LOGO

Art Nouveou Style

Pencils Organic lines and florals were the inspiration for this piece. The original idea was to incorporate a flower with my name in the petals.

Computer

I chose to draw a peony because it is my favorite flower. Instead of putting my name on single petals, I delicately placed it in the right hand corner.

Finals It was clear that my name needed to be bigger so I enlarged it. I also added black in the color flower to fit my personal aesthetic more. It also gives it more depth.

Pencils

Computer

I wanted to keep this design simple and be font based. I also wanted to include lines of some sort.

The roughs were very clean and too simple. The splash across the bottom came off as creepy so it needed to be altered.

Finals

Adding dashed lines on the left and at the bottom gives this logo a modernism feel with some depth. The yellow circle was added for a pop of color and to make it stand out when smaller. 14

Computer

From the beginning I knew I wanted to incorporate a crown to represent the dramatic style of my personality.

The pink was added because I am not normally a color person, but I wanted to show that I can be fun! 15

Finals The words were enlarged and put in the center for better readability. The color palette was based on that of the time during Post Modernism.

Digital Age Style

Pencils

Computer

I wanted to focus on hand drawn elements in this logo to show what I believe the digital age is.

This is my own hand within illustrator. The letters are too thick to make a good logo. 17

Finals To make this logo really pop and refine it, I made the text thinner and the moon larger. It curves and frames the words. Overall it is easier to read as well.

Pencils

Computer

I was amazed at this sketch I drew. It seemed so original I felt compelled to use it.

I did not end up tracing my actual sketch but was inspired by it instead. She was hand drawn through illustrator.

Support Post-Modernism Inspired

SUPPORT for others through the willingness to take and give criticism, acceptance and love

Pencils

Computer

An umbrella was the original idea. I wanted to show that support can mean many things.

To follow the theme of post-modernism, the umbrella was made in an abstract form. The yellow resembles the sunlight.

S U P P O R T for others through the willingness to take and give criticism, acceptance and love.

Final It was clear that the typography needed adjusted. Support was transformed to look as one flowing object while the main text was centered. The yellow was toned down to be less distracting. 23

Christmas Card

Pencils

Computer

I wanted to compose an ornament by hand to refine my skills.

The sketch was scanned in and traced. Red and green were chosen to stick withthe original colors of Christmas

25

PROJECT TWO

J Y Rough Draft This card was too distracting. The border took away from the original design of the ornament. 26

Packaging Finals Once the ornament was refined even more, it was easy to come up with these three concepts for packaging tags.

Final Originally, the back of the card was white. Based on client intake I changed it to green. I also refined even further the ornament. The logo was added in white to go along with the text.

This is the original poster turned in for critique.

This is the poster with changes made. Although it was a slight move, sensitivity has been adjusted to curve with the oval better. The text in the bottom right corner was also changed to gray.

Rough Notecard

Final

This note card had major technical issues. The white lines and box came in with the design and could not be eliminated.

I had to trouble shoot to get rid of the lines and box. Afterwards, it was clear to see that a vertical note card with another frame around would be more pleasing to the eye.

Rough Slider

Final

The line and box problem carried over here as well. The girl all the way to the left also drew the eye away from the message.

I repositioned the girl so she is looking into the poster. The type was also turned to blue to reflect the butterfly.

32

PROJECT THREE

Rough Box

Final

Originally, the box was too plain. There was nothing to make it pop.

Butterflies were added on the top and bottom of this design to add more color and to make it pop. The lines on the top and bottom were also refined as well.
