Weekend One - April 11th - 13th Weekend Two - April 18th - 20th Empire Polo Club 81-800 Avenue 51 I n d i o CA 92201

The Coachella Vibe It’s here. You can almost smell it in the air; the fresh daisy headbands, crocheted dresses, denim shorts and cowboy boots. Spring has arrived, and in just enough time for us to jet over to Cali for some pre-summer loving!

well, who doesn’t need a good blow dry mid fest? With pie eating contests, Ping pong, dodge ball and even massages on offer, Coachella is known for doing it all with a wide variation of music Coachella attracts people from all walks of the earth, but that’s enough boring factual talk; lets talk fashion!

Coachella is the festival of all festivals if you want guaranteed sun, beaut fashion and heck there’s even music!

When I think festival fashion, I think coachellafest, it’s not your average ‘covered in mud with only one wellie left on’ kind of festival. Its white lace and tassels, vintage tan leather boots and oversized flower head bands, it’s drinking Kopparberg with the sun on your delicately painted cheeks, wearing as many friendship bracelets and anklets as you can find and the most complementing clashing prints this side of Africa has ever seen!

Ok perhaps that was a litle mean, but Coachella isn’t for you hardcore music fans, it’s more… well, more of an overall festival experience… there’s a beauty bar because

The Forget-me-nots! Festivals you’d simply be crazy to miss this summer!

The Great Escape (Brighton)

Parklife (Manchester)

Wireless Festival (London/Birmingham)

Beautiful Days (Devon)

One of the earlier festivals this season, The Great Escape in Brighton runs from the 8th - 10th of May. And with prices starting from just £54 for a three day ticket, this is an incredibly cheap gig. With names such as Example, Ella Eyre and Wildbeasts it really does seem too good to be true! There’s also plenty to see and do in Brighton, such as the Lanes shopping, the pier and the lovely (but cold) pebble beach.

Manchester’s favourite festival is back and promises to be even bigger and better, with the best in the business showing up for the occasion. Having upgraded from Platt Fields park, the festival this year will be entertaining Manchester’s huge student population from the legendary Heaton Park. The weekend of 7th – 8th of June features a top drawer line up with acts like Snoop Dogg, Foals, Bastille and Rudimental.

Cost: £210 Date: 4th – 6th July So, this one will set you back a few bob, but Wireless really is one of the giants of the festival scene. Back for its 9th year, Wireless will take place both at Finsbury Park in London and Perry Park in Birmingham. We’re not going to lie, the names on this list are HUGE. If you go you can expect to catch Drake, Bruno Mars, Pharrell, Kayne West and more. Phew.

Cost: £130 Date: 15th – 17th August Set up in 2003 by the Levellers,Beautiful Days prides itself on having no sponsorship or advertising and a very chilled out vibe. This year it’s headlined by Steve Earl and the Dukes,Seasick Steve and The Levellers themselves and promises to be a laid back weekend of great music.

LoveBox (London)

Lamer Tree Festival (Dorset)

Shambala (Northampton)

Oktoberfest (Munich)

Cost: £80 Date: 18th – 19th July Another big festival held in London (they get all the luck), this time in Victoria Park. LoveBox has a great line up this year including Chase and Status, MIA and Annie Mac.If you don’t feel like splashing out too much you can always just come for one day.

Cost: £220 Date: 16th – 20th July Billed as the “happiest, friendliest and quirkiest” festival in the land, you’ll find Tom Jones, Frank Turner and Tom Odell at this fantastic festival in Dorset. Not only is it great fun, it’s like a whole mini holiday in itself as you can sign up for up to five days of festival madness. Yep you heard us right, FIVE DAYS.

Cost: £135 Date: 21st- 24th August If you’re looking for something a little bit different from your festival experience, then it’s well worth checking out Shambala in Northampton. The whole thing is organised without any paid advertisements, using only word of mouth and social networking sites and you can even get involved. They’ve got a whole range of events going on as well as the music too, from brain food and art installations to wellbeing.

Cost: £100 Date: 21st September- 5th October Last but not least it’s the world-famed Oktoberfest in Munich,Germany, now in its 181st year. While you will have to shell out for a flight to Germany for this one, the festival itself is free, the oldest in the world and totally worth it, proven by the fact more than 16 million people visit each year.Oh, did we mention it’s a beer festival?

GlastoNews Will we see the World Cup?

Kasabian on their first G l a s tonbury

Should England’s football team qualify from the group stages to the knock out rounds of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, their match in the Last 16 is scheduled to either take place at 9pm UK time on the Saturday of Glastonbury (if they finish second in their group) or 9pm UK time on the Sunday of Glastonbury (if they win their group). In previous years, we have endeavoured to show England’s matches on big screens where possible (other nations’ matches have not been shown). However, with the potential England matches clashing with the headline sets at this year’s Festival, the decision has been made that should England qualify from their group - their last 16 match will not be shown at Glastonbury 2014. As England’s final group game takes place at 5pm UK time on Tuesday, June 24th (the evening before Glastonbury 2014 begins), it won’t be known until then whether or not England will actually play a match during the Festival. But, as we are already being asked about our plans, we wanted to let everyone know well in advance that the decision has been made not to screen the potential match. We’d also like to take this opportunity to wish Roy Hodgson’s side all the best in Brazil. And we very much hope that we’ll all be able to watch England playing a Quarter Final match on the 4th or 5th of July.

Glastonbury’s hall of fame bin! We’re pleased to report that a bin packed with Glastonbury memorabilia has travelled from Worthy Farm to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Ohio, where it will feature in the new Common Ground: The Music Festival Experience exhibition, which opens on Friday, April 25, 2014.

“We first played Glastonbury in 2004 when we were first on the Other Stage on the Friday. We did a gig at Hammersmith Apollo the night before, playing before Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and we had a minibus waiting to take us down. We all jumped in and everyone was going: ‘We can’t do any gear, can we?’, and everyone was saying, ‘No, we’ll save it, we’ll save it,’ and then suddenly, an hour in, it’s like, ‘Oh, go on then’, bang, suitcase open, and everyone is filling their boots and before you know it you’re watching Trisha at 10.30am, going: ‘Fucking hell, I’m going to Glastonbury in a minute.’ “Because you’re first on, you think no one’s going to be there, so it’s like: ‘Well, what would Keef [Richards] do?’ ‘Yeah, carry on!’ And then you get there, and you open the curtain and it’s … full. That was the first indication we’d really had that we were connecting with people, so that will always remain one of my favourite gigs of all time. “Were we nervous? I was just watching the clock, going: ‘Come on, just fucking finish.’ I was absolutely d y i n g ! ”

Alexa’s choppy ‘lob’ is supersimple, but super-effective. Perfect for that too-cool-to-care air you want to ooze. This is one of the few cool, mid length, low maintenance styles. A hassle-free style that is a must for all those girls who want to rock the night away to your favourite band!

GET THE LOOK:

-To begin apply Shockwaves Curls and Waves Mousse into damp hair -Once all the hair is dry use some straightening irons and put waves into the hair, twisting sections of hair going backwards with the irons -After this is dry, use Wellaflex Silvikrin Flexible Hold Hairspray by scrunching it into the hair and create a centre parting, the hair look loose and lazy

Vintage up-’do

Ri Ri’s retro style is perfect for funking up a day look and disguising greasy locks. A simple, but really effective weekend festival do. With this style both you and your hair will be able to stand the test of time at any festival.

GET THE LOOK:

-Apply Shockwaves Volume Mousse into damp hair and scrunch dry 1980s style – do this with your head upside down to get loads of body into it -Once dry backcomb all the roots and twist the back and pin into a messy French plait -Next wrap a rolled up head scarf behind the ears, over the crown and tie off to one side - leaving your fringe out -To finish, spray with Wellaflex Silvikrin Maximum Hold Hairspray And if you’re staying all weekend make it last by sleeping on it then just re-doing steps two and three. Easy!

how to do DENIM THE DO’S AND DONT’S OF DENIM SHORTS Don’t… Wear white shorts without a tan White shorts on pale legs make for a pasty nightmare. With an arsenal of fake tans on the market there really is no excuse. Don’t… Shorten your legs with boots Unlessed blessed with lithe model limbs that make any boot length look fabulous with denim shorts. Us mere mortals should be wary of cutting off legs with booties. Flat pumps and sandals are often best for leg-lengthening. Do… Pair with a modest top If you’re going skimpy on the bottom half, a modest top is a good bet. Rolled up shirts make for particularly cool summer companions. Do… Keep your shorts for daytime No matter how much you jazz up a pair of denim hot pants they never translate into a chic evening look. Keep them for the beach. Don’t… Leave your pockets hanging We should all know better than to leave fabric pockets flapping about. There’s something a bit unsavoury about having shorts so short the pockets stick out. Don’t… Over distress your denim A rip here and a bit of fraying there, yes; but don’t massacre your denim. No one wants to look like your shorts have been attacked by a shredder. Do… Pair with a classic trainer Denim shorts and Converse make for a classic American cool vibe. Clichéd maybe, but it works every time. Don’t… Show some cheek No matter how perky one’s bum is it’s fair to say the world won’t appreciate you showing your cheeks off.

dungarees Go for a tapered leg Bored with skinny jeans? This is an edgy alternative. The cropped length and dark color makes this pair impeccably stylish and on-trend, especially when worn with booties or high heels. Fashion Click blogger Zoe S (right). goes for extra cool points by leaving one of the straps unbuckled.

Wear with a cropped blouse The midriff baring top is another trend of yesteryear that has recently resurfaced. In theory, wearing one with overalls should seem retro, but somehow it looks totally fresh. Fashion Click blogger Faith P.’s look (left) is in-season with cool wedges, a white lacy blouse, and, of course, her matching floral hairpiece.

Go for a pretty pinafore An overalls-dress is the perfect compromise of trendy and girly. The front patch pockets are a cute, unexpected touch! Fashion Click blogger Kim T (right). accessorizes her denim dress with black tights, pink sunnies, and cool Chelsea boots for a downtown edge.

Pair with different textures Try wearing ultra-girly pieces, like a form-fitting top in black lace, underneath a classic pair of boxy overalls for a cool juxtaposition of feminine and utilitarian. Fashion Click blogger Apneet K.’s lace top and cuffed overalls are a winning combo.(left)

reading festival Who Are You? Reading is one of the more rockier festivals on the circuit, mostly because of its progressive rock, blues and heavy metal roots in the 1970s. There are 8 stages at the festival, with most of the big names on the Main Stage and the NME/Radio 1 Stage and cooler, up and coming bands on other stages like BBC Introducing Stage. There is also now an electronic side to the line up, with a Dance Stage providing a bill of hot DJs and some of the bigger dance acts also appearing on the main stages. For most people, Reading is about one thing only: music. Unlike other festivals, there is no spiritual journey to go on here, there are no arts tents and the setting won’t take your breath away. At Reading it’s all about the bands. At a festival like this you tend to find several types of revellers: HIGHLY ORGANISED READING FESTIVAL FAN: often seen with a print out of a personal programme they have compiled themselves that takes into account the distance between stages and the exact times at which it will be best to travel to a certain stage to get themselves in the right position for a certain band. If you want to take this approach, you will need lashings of energy and some sharp elbows as the crush between stages at Reading when people are trying to get from one big name band to another can be too much for even the most ardent fan. SINGLE STAGE READING FESTIVAL FAN: has normally decided in advance which stage is for them – is perhaps a long term Reading fan and has had the best ‘hands in the air’ moments at a particular stage, maybe the Festival Republic Stage or the Lock Up Stage. If this is you then research is required in advance to make sure you know which stage you want to set up camp at and exactly which spot in the audience will provide you with maximum enjoyment of said stage. CASUAL READING FESTIVAL FAN: may possibly have a wristband for the hospitality area, certainly doesn’t consult a festival programme during the duration of the event. This type of fan tends to wander from stage to stage, depending on the weather, which way the crowds go, where the beer queues are the shortest and whether they can be bothered to move from a comfortable spot. If this is you then all you really need to do is equip yourself with beer money, waterproof, sun cream and a few similarly minded mates and you can drift around to your heart’s content. IN ALL CASES - BRING WELLIES.

Come rain or shine they’re perfect for a quick and easy look that will garentee to throw a few good looks your way! Check out our tutorials here but also, dont forget to come along to our tent and any uk festival to make your own!

Keeping It Real Using real flowers creates a very beautiful but short living headband, great for a summer bbqs, weddings or a day festival. But not so handy for a summer of

fes-

tivals!

Supplies Needed: Floral tape, floral wire, fresh flowers, and scissors.

1. Cut your flowers so the stems are 1 1/2 inches long.

3. Place one of your center flowers on your wire loop and use the floral tape to attach the stem to the wire.

2. Measure the circumference of your head and cut your wire twice the length needed. Create your wire loop to the size of your head and use the extra length to wrap around the loop again for stability. 4. Place another flower behind your first flower and tape that stem to the wire as well. Continue this process until you have that side completed. Repeat the process for the other side by placing a flower next to your center flower (the heads of the flowers should be facing each other) and working your way down that side of the wire. Cover the exposed wire in the back with the floral tape, and you’re done!

F a k e B a k e Using fake flowers is a great way to ensure your headbands last, they have a very different look to them but still look fab! 1. First, remove the fake flower from its stem. The shorter the stick, the easier it will be so cut the stem with a pair of scissors if its too long. And figure out where you’re going to place your flowers, 2. Take a thumbtack and pierce the elastic headband. It should pierce with relative ease. 3. Take your glue gun and squeeze a small amount of hot glue, enough so that the pointed end of the thumbtack is coated all around with hot glue. 4. Fit the small hole over the pointed end of the thumbtack and press the flower down until it lies flat against the headband. Hold it there until you know the flower is secure.

5. Repeat this step with your flowers, leaving some space in between your flowers for when you place your leaves. Try to keep your flowers evenly spaced, but it doesn’t have to be exact. 6. After you have glued all of your flowers to the headband, now it’s time to add the leaves. You can place the leaves wherever you wish, whether you want it to be evenly distributed or random. I alternated mine in between the flowers. Repeat the steps that you did with the flowers, using a hot glue and thumbtack to secure the leaves. Ta-da! Finished!

BESTIVAL 101 Outkast

Outkast have announced the first UK date of their reunion tour. André 3000 and Big Boi will headline this year’s Bestival on the Isle of Wight, it has been revealed. Taking place from 4-7 September at Robin Hill Country Park, the event will play host to only one of two UK festival performances by the hip-hop duo. According to organisers, there will be three more headliners added to the bill, and the festival theme will be Desert Island Disco. “Hey ya! By the power invested in me as chief Bestival booker, I’m pretty darn excited to announce that Outkast are headlining Bestival this year!” Rob da Bank said in a statement. “We’ve fought hard to

Swim2Bestival

Last year, bestival was a scorcher, and my betting is it’s not goin gto be much different this year! So what better way to cool down for the weekend ahead than to ditch the ferry and swim! Yep you read correct... swim. “Welcome to Swim2Bestival, quite simply the best way to get Bestival on the Isle of Wight. Swim2Bestival is a charity

get the recently reunited legendary hiphop duo on to the ferry … and it’s no ordinary ferry this year, as Bestival goes Desert Island Disco for 2014 … Palm trees, grass skirts and mirrorballs are the order of the day. It truly is gonna be the Bestival yet!” Returning after a hiatus of seven years, Outkast will spend this summer celebrating their 20th anniversary by appearing as a marquee act at a series of events, four of which have now been announced: Bestival; the two weekends of Coachella on 11 and 18 April; and New York’s Governors Ball in June. Their schedule still seems open for Glastonbury, hmm...

event that takes place the day before the festival begins and allows festival goers crazy enough to take on the challenge the opportunity to don their Speedos in a ‘managainst-the-elements’ test of strength and stamina, swimming the 1.3 mile stretch of cold and choppy water that is the Solent.” Crazy bunch of people thats what I say!

Bestival goes back to its roots A NEW stage will bring some of the biggest stars of reggae to the Isle of Wight for Bestival this year. Rob da Bank said the new Reggae Roots stage would bring together top names from ska, rock steady, ragga, dub, dancehall and jungle. He said: “It’s no secret that many of us at Bestival HQ are well into dub, reggae, roots and bass music. Having hosted many of the legends of the genre from Lee Scratch Perry to Gregory Isaacs and the Twinkle

Brothers it seemed about time we had a stage just for the skankers and the low-end lovers. “The soundsystem is going to be off the scale, the stage is going to look like a backyard Jamaican dance and you guys are going to make it all happen, in the sunshine, in love with the bass.” Acts already announced for the new stage include Toddla T, Prince Fatty, Trojan Sound System, Robbo Ranx, Natty and the Island’s own reggae stars The Ohmz.
