Summer Rocks at Camp Royal! For youth K-6 Hopkins Camp Royal Summer 2017 fun!
At Hopkins Community Education, we are pleased to bring to you our exciting Camp Royal summer youth programming. Designed to work around your schedule, our summer programming offers: • Flexibility: Our Monday-Thursday camps are designed around half-day blocks, with drop-off times starting at 8:00 am, and pick-up by 5:00 pm. Sign up for a full- or half-day, and lunch is included! • Variety: Our classes run the gamut of interests — from art, pottery, sports, science and technology (STEM), to Legos, cooking, and drama. We’re sure to have something for every child. • Affordability: We’ve priced our camps at an affordable price-point for families. • And most important – our camps are FUN! Join us this summer!

Frequently asked questions Who are our Camp Royal Staff?
Dedicated professionals with an interest and/or hands-on experience in fields directly related to youth. Our Camp Royal Staff is comprised of district staff, college students, and local community professionals, with a broad range of knowledge and appropriate experience working with youth.
Where and when do I drop-off and pick up?
Youth need to be signed in and out of Camp Royal every day by a parent/guardian between 8-9 am; and 4-5 pm in the Eisenhower Community Center Entrance Lobby area (Door B). Students attending morning-only camps must be picked up at 12 pm unless they are staying for lunch — then pick-up time is by 12:30 pm. Drop-off for students attending afternoon-only camps begins at 12:30 pm unless they are coming for lunch — then drop-off time is 12:00 pm.
What about lunch?
Lunch is free, and is from 12:00-12:30 pm for Camp Royal participants. Lunch supervision is part of your Camp Royal fee and is supervised by Camp Royal staff. Your student may bring a bag lunch if they wish, and eat during the scheduled Camp Royal lunch time.
How are kids supervised from 8-9 am, 4-5 pm, and during lunch?
Our Camp Royal staff will supervise drop-off, lunch, and pick-up time periods outside of the regular camp programming time. During this time, youth have the option to participate in gym games and other small group activities.
What is your ratio of staff to kids?
Camp Royal follows state guidelines for Out-Of-School Time ratios, which are 15 to 1. Some class offerings will be below this ratio.
What do I do if bad weather is reported?
Call the Hopkins Public School Weather Hotline at 952-988-4019. This number will have the latest information about weather and cancellations.
Do you allow electronic devices to be brought to classes?
Camp Royal youth will be very busy during programming time. Please leave electronic devices at home. Cell phones are welcome, but need to remain in the backpacks while participating in programming. Hopkins Community Education is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken devices.
Who do I call if I need to talk to Camp Royal staff during programming time?
The Camp Royal cell phone number will be provided to Camp Royal parents when the program begins. This phone number will be attended during programming times.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We realize many families will be signing up for multiple weeks, and would like a payment plan option. If you are enrolling for multiple weeks, and would like to set up a payment plan, contact us at 952-988-4070 for registration and payment plan information.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
We will gladly refund your class registration fee if you cancel and request a refund 5 business days prior to the first class. We reserve the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment. In that case, we will call and make arrangements to refund your class fee.

Youth Horse Camp
Ages 6+ Andrea Keacher Come ride and learn about horses! Lessons include learning how to work with the horse, and balance and control in the saddle. Learn how to groom, tack-up, lead, and do in-hand work with horses. We’ll make horse crafts and do other horse-related activities such as horseshoe painting, mane and tail braiding, bathing horses, play horse tag, and helping feed, water, and care for the horses. Proper attire includes sneakers or boots (closed toe with a heel), long pants, and layers depending on weather. Bring bug spray, sunscreen, nut-free snacks, water bottle; and nut-free bag lunch. Fun Family Opportunities! Mighty Mudders Mud Run! Ages 6-13
Join us for the 1st Annual Mighty Mudders Mud Run! Arrive between 9:40-10:00 a.m. and kids will run in waves as the course clears. Run, jump, climb, and slide your way through obstacles around Glen Lake Elementary school grounds. The course is approximately ½ mile (run it twice if you’d like) and includes fun and challenging obstacles with a mud pit at the finish line. All participants will receive a T-shirt.
