Family Connections Growing Up: Mothers and Daughters Connecting

Girls ages 9-12 & Parent/Caregiver myHealth for Teens & Young Adults staff Join staff from myHealth for Teens & Young Adults for a workshop that will take some of the mystery out of puberty and adolescence. Girls age 9-12, and their mother (or other trusted female), will engage in activities that help them learn about puberty and development — what is normal about growing up, how to have the best parent-child communication possible, and how to strengthen family bonds. Bus will pick up and drop off at main entrance of Eisenhower Community Center at 9:00 am and 3:00 pm respectively. Enjoy horse crafts and other activities such as horseshoe painting, braiding a horse’s mane, bathing horses, playing horse tag, and helping feed and water horses. Already been to one of our camps? Excellent! Each time you come back, you will be able to do more on your horse, including trotting and steering by yourself! Red Cross Babysitting Ages 11-16

Sari Johnson Become the most popular babysitter in your neighborhood! Whether you are experienced or just beginning to care for children, this class is for you. Learn basic child development, first aid, unique care for babies, and how to deal with emergencies. You will receive a Red Cross certification, but you must be 11 years old by the end of class and attend the entire course. Grades 5-9 Corrine Standish Learn to use your camera to its greatest potential and get the best shots possible. Explore composition, how to set up your shot, camera settings, image selection, and basic photo editing using software. We work both individually and as a team to create still lifes, portraits, and landscapes (weather permitting). Digital SLR, mirrorless, point and shoot, and cell phones are welcome, or borrow our equipment if you don’t have a camera. Ages 5-9 TranscenDance Studio Explore the basic movements of tumbling to take your skill to the next level! Using exercises from yoga to gymnastics, this class helps develop motor skills and challenges students physically in a fun setting. Making transitions, taking turns, and working as a group are regular social skills encouraged in this lively class. Hopkins Lacrosse players and coaches will introduce you to this fast-paced game. Learn stick handling, proper positioning, passing, cradling, and team skills. Please wear appropriate clothing, athletic shoes, and bring a water bottle. Equipment is provided. Family Swim Saturdays Join us for a season of fun, open family swimming at Eisenhower Community Center pool. Lifeguards are on duty during all open family swim hours. (This is not a swim lesson.) Swimmers must furnish their own suits and towels. All youth swimmers must be accompanied by an adult 18 years old or older who is dressed to swim. The Eisenhower Observatory is Awesome. Explore the moon, stars, and night sky — to infinity and beyond! The historic Eisenhower Observatory is an awesome experience for kids ages 7+. Parents will love it, too! View the night sky through the Lawrence Sauter Telescope, located in the observatory atop the Eisenhower Community Center in room 347. With the guidance of trained volunteers, discover the moon, planets, stars, and constellations. Viewings are limited to 15 participants. Group reservations available. A $2 donation for adults, $1 for students, and $35 for groups is requested. Must be age 7 or older.
