CEO MESSAGE
CRAFTING RESILIENCE
AI and robotics have become much-talked-about topics in 2024, particularly in Taiwan, a nation built on a strong foundation of technology and innovation. With hundreds of thousands of professionals dedicated to the development of AI chips and related industries, Taiwan has experienced impressive economic growth, with a stock market that ranks 14th largest globally and consistently breaks new records. Simply put, Taiwan has become a prosperous nation where people enjoy comfortable and fulfilling lives. With the advancement of technology, concerns arise about its impact and timing on traditional industries that rely heavily on human labor.
Shipbuilding is a typical labor-intensive industry. Surrounded by sea, Taiwan’s unique geography lends itself to the development of a maritime economy. And it’s no surprise that the country’s yacht manufacturing industry has flourished over the past half century. Looking back at the evolution of the industry, the transformation that has taken place is remarkable. From size range, design trends to quality improvements, production management, and marketing strategies, the industry progression has been astounding. Despite the number of yacht manufacturers dwindling from over 100 in its heyday to just a handful today, Taiwan’s yacht industry has adapted and managed to maintain a formidable presence in a fiercely competitive global market, which is a testament to its resilience.
At the heart of this achievement is the understanding that building yachts is a highly complex process that requires a delicate balance of technology and human craftsmanship. I believe that a successful shipyard needs more than just excellent management know-how and sufficient human resources—a strong corporate culture and shared values are also essential. Horizon Yachts has been guided by the principles of employee engagement, continuous improvement, self-assessment, and customer satisfaction for nearly 40 years. As technological advancements and AI continue to shape the future of industries and our lives, I believe that “People” will remain the most valuable asset for any shipyard, and shared values will continue to play a vital role for us to thrive.

Horizon Power Catamarans Embraces Silent Living
An advanced power management package for all new powercat builds brings up to 20 hours of generator-free comfort.
TECHNOLOGY
Horizon Power Catamarans has embraced silent living and environmental considerations with a new power management package for its power catamaran builds. Now offered as a standard feature, each Horizon Powercat model will be equipped with an advanced Victron phosphate battery package paired with a Termodinamica variable speed air-conditioning system for minimal generator usage and maximum efficiency. This system works in tandem to reduce generator usage and maximize onboard comfort. Coupled with the phosphate battery package from Victron, the Termodinamica variable speed, freon-cooled air-conditioning system keeps the interior cool, dry, and quiet for nearly 20 hours on battery power alone. Previously offered as an upgrade, the Victron system has been so successful in PC models that it is now a standard power package in the PC52, PC60, PC68 and larger custom power catamaran models.
For a line that sees the majority of its models and owners enjoying the tranquil waters and protected anchorages of The Bahamas, embracing silent cruising and living is not only welcome, it is environmentally sensible.
“Offering an efficient and silent power package is the logical step for our next-generation power catamarans,” says The Powercat Company Founder and CEO Richard Ford. “With this Victron phosphate package you can run the entire boat, including air-conditioning, refrigeration and freezers, for nearly 20 hours on batteries alone. This, coupled with other areas of energy savings, such as propane-fueled cooking, solar-powered systems and large alternators, goes a long way in mitigating energy consumption while making for an extremely comfortable and enjoyable cruising experience overall.”
The new battery system has been implemented into ten powercat builds over the last three years and has demonstrated an 84% improvement in energy efficiencies while offering many convenient “smart” features such as remote monitoring and auto generator start/stop. Richard Ford goes on to say that Horizon is now able to reduce generator size due to the efficient air-conditioning system coupled with the unique assist mode from the batteries. “Losing power at the dock and ruining food in the fridge or freezers is a thing of the past!” He says.
For more information on the Victron package or available powercat models, please contact The Powercat Company at +1 954 803 8102 or email richard@powercatco.com.

SALUTE TO AN EMBLEM OF ENTERTAINMENT
Horizon FD108 Ocean Lily secures Main Salon category win at the 2024 International Yacht & Aviation Awards.
You’d be forgiven for doing a double-take upon seeing the Ocean Lily name. In its first incarnation, it took the form of an FD75 open flybridge model in 2021. As it turns out, that was only the genesis of the owner’s connection with this tour de force of customized entertainment. Wowed by the yacht's spacious and adaptable living areas, along with an exquisite capacity for entertaining large groups of guests, the owner returned to Horizon with a new vision—bigger, better, bolder. And it is this rejuvenated Ocean Lily in the form of a brandnew 108-feet FD100 Tri-Deck that caught the attention of the judges at the 2024 International Yacht & Aviation Awards. Emerging as the 2024 winner of the Main Salon category, this was a nod to Ocean Lily ’s fusion of youthful panache, Horizon’s craftsmanship, and the renowned vision of Cor D. Rover Design. With the FD108 platform serving as a blank canvas, the owner’s brief was to create a masterpiece that embodies a seamless blend of luxurious
living, unparalleled entertainment options, and exquisite taste to accommodate groups of up to 40 people.
Each of the deck areas gives form to this ethos. The upper deck aft and main salon areas are all about hosting epic shindigs. A generously sized 14-seater table on the boat deck, shaded by sun awnings for maximum comfort, sets the scene for alfresco dining and afternoons passed in a sunny blur.
Large sliding glass doors open onto an enclosed, full-beam skylounge featuring oversized sofas for comfortable socializing and unwinding. Here, guests find themselves in a dedicated KTV room with an 85-inch TV and a top-ofthe-line BMB karaoke sound system. Situated forward in the pilothouse is the Captain’s at-sea cabin, a rare customized feature in the FD series.
ABOVE Sleek and stylish, this winning design has proven to be a successful platform for large-scale entertainment.
On the main deck, the centerpiece of the main salon’s interior is a distinctive rounded seating area comprised of three individual sofas. The overall color palette utilizes neutral tones, accentuated by elegant ash grey wood and subtle brushed brass details interwoven throughout the décor and an impressive showcase of artwork. Expansive, full-height windows grace the entire space, providing uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of the seascape.
The forward dining area offers a large table for group dining and abundant natural light streams through the full-height windows, further enhancing the space’s ambiance. Classic Louis Vuitton trunks add a touch of timeless sophistication, while discreet Bang & Olufsen speakers concealed within the black mirrored bulkhead deliver immersive soundtracks for any occasion.
The on-deck master stateroom provides a haven of tranquility, featuring a thoughtfully designed dressing table, Hästens mattress, and ample natural light from the large windows and overhead skylight. Ensuite features include dual wash basins with separate toilet and shower rooms. Guest accommodations continue on the lower deck and include four ensuite staterooms, each named for a different prominent artist, with mirrored VIPs and two sets of bunk cabins to meet the needs of different guests. Other amenities specified by the owner here include a full gym and a separate laundry room.
Crew quarters for up to six are situated aft of the engine room and feature a spacious open mess with an eight-seater dining table. This versatile space is conveniently accessed via sloped glass hatches on either side of the swim platform. Adjacent to the crew area lies a dedicated storage compartment, housing the owner’s Flitescooter, Seabob, dive tanks, along with a separate freezer room. The extended swim platform area offers ample space for a Williams Jet Tender and Sea Doo jet skis.
Earning recognition from the International Yacht & Aviation Awards, Ocean Lily stands out as a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship. It is a celebration not only of the yacht’s masterful construction but also her meticulously crafted interior. For Horizon, this is a project that seamlessly blends distinct design influences, ultimately achieving a cohesive and inspiring emblem of entertainment that is a testament to the owner’s vision brought to life. TRI-DECK
TITAN
Space is a state of mind brought to life in this FD110 Tri-Deck.
Horizon’s in-house design teams, in collaboration with world-renowned Dutch designer Cor D. Rover, offer exceptional personalized service to bring an owner’s vision for a high-volume superyacht to life. The tri-deck option of the acclaimed Fast Displacement (FD) Series further adds to an already impressive array of hallmark features, including spacious interiors, expansive windows, and the innovative High-Performance Piercing Bow and hull design.
The sixth build of the FD110 model sports a five-stateroom layout with an on-deck master, an enclosed skylounge, and is verified to meet the Hull & Stability standards of the Bureau Veritas Classification, a distinction likely to resonate with American owners.
Window to Exquisite Design
Full-height windows running from bow to stern, a signature element of the FD Series, add a striking motif to the exterior styling, which is further amplified by the yacht’s exterior deck areas and the 25’ 2” beam that inspires a grand presence.
Stepping onto the aft deck, guests find themselves in a large seating area with a set of four plush sofas encircling a Hi-Lo extendable teak table that converts into a dining area. Nearby, a full walk-around bar with barstools and a fold-up LED TV ensure refreshments and entertainment are always on hand.
Through fully opening electric doors, the salon’s inviting design with an emphasis on relaxation and entertainment unfolds. A large U-shaped lounge and two swivel recliners lend themselves to conversation and form a comfortable haven for taking in the scintillating sea views through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
In a subtle nod to deluxe residential design, North American walnut takes center stage in the salon aesthetics, highlighting an understated yet elegant ambiance. Splashes of lively colors add a modern touch with a refined and distinctive texture.
Sliding glass doors on both sides of the dining area just forward of the salon provide an open-air feel for a relaxing dining experience. Creating very distinct lighting above the ten-seater dining table is an Acropolis Linear Chandelier, which combines natural Spanish alabaster to create a simple, floating appearance. A fully equipped, professional galley, replete with beautiful Cambria stone and complemented by Mikado Quartz, adds vibrancy to the interior décor. For privacy in a more formal setting, a Hi-Lo frosted glass partition can be deployed to completely close off the guest areas.

HORIZON LIFE
DREAMS DEFINED. LIFE ON THE WATER.
The 2024 Horizon Yacht USA Owners’ Rendezvous in Key West, Florida, saw 20 owners, 15 yachts, and more than 120 guests gather for three days packed with exciting excursions, socializing and dancing, and, of course, delicious cuisine.
What better way to revel in Rendezvous vibes than to cast the previous year’s Mystic Seaport Owners’ Rendezvous in Connecticut into memory and embrace the flair of Key West, Florida.
Attendees were primed for an extraordinary experience. Steeped in history that inspired Ernest Hemingway and boasting a vibrant present, Key West proved to be the ideal setting for the 2024 Horizon Yacht USA Owners’ Rendezvous. With America's only living coral reef just offshore, the legendary Duval Street pulsating with nightlife, and the promise of unforgettable sunsets, the scene was set for a weekend of forging lasting memories. Forget “get there fast, then take it slow”—this was all about taking celebrations of the yachting lifestyle up a notch.

Key West Vibes: Making Unforgettable Memories
With 14 yachts already docked, the owner of the E98 Do It Now planned a grand, fashionably late arrival. But the Horizon crew had other plans—a signature Key West surprise! As the yacht maneuvered into place to dock stern-to, two flamboyant local drag queens, the event's special “welcoming committee,” materialized dockside. After expertly guiding the yacht in, the dazzling duo turned their attention to the crowd, posing for pictures and amping up the energy. An outrageous entrance it was, and a preview of the upcoming fun-filled days. Guests then enjoyed some free time to explore the Perry Hotel & Marina in Stock Island before the afternoon’s official welcome and the traditional gift bag presentations.
A truly impressive display of Horizon’s presence with all 15 yachts docked together at the Perry Hotel & Marina was a sight to behold. A weekend filled with exciting activities, unforgettable excursions, and delectable food and drinks was in store for the 20 owner groups and over 120 guests.

THESE PHOTOS Guests were greeted with Key West-inspired swag to kick off Friday's welcome party.
The festivities kicked off with a vibrant Key West-themed poolside welcome reception, complete with henna tattoos, locally inspired hors d’oeuvres, refreshing cocktails, and live music. Both new and long-time Horizon owners mingled and shared stories of their adventures on the open waters. It is great to see owners and guests who had never met before becoming fast friends, and as the owner of the FD100 perfectly captured the moment: “You meet these folks (other boat owners) and it’s like you’ve known them for years.” As new relationships formed and others enjoyed catching up, excitement crackled in the air. With the fun just beginning, guests returned to their yachts, eagerly anticipating the evening's events.
A few short hours later, trolleys whisked guests away to the heart of the action—Duval Street in Downtown Key West. Here, live music pulsed through the air, a siren call inviting them to a private rooftop terrace, from which a dazzling panorama of Duval Street unfolded. Enjoying world-class cuisine and taking in the vibrant tapestry of sights and sounds, guests continued the celebration into the night by dancing to the sounds of the Jutt Huffman band. Meanwhile, Horizon’s staff worked behind the scenes, weaving their magic to ensure the next day’s adventures would be just as unforgettable.

THIS PAGE Guests traveled downtown in style aboard the famous and scenic Conch Tour Train to visit the heart of Key West, Duval Street.
Guests were treated to an array of activities on Day 2, presented with the choice of visiting the Dry Tortugas by seaplane, enjoying a jet ski tour, a Paint and Sip at the hotel, or journeying to Duval Street to explore the local sights. Those traveling to the Dry Tortugas, one of America’s most treasured National Parks, boarded one of four seaplanes scheduled throughout the day, to land at Fort Jefferson. During the ride, the pilot pointed out wildlife such as pods of wild dolphins, sea turtles, schools of tarpon, and even a giant manta ray. Other attractions included Mel Fisher’s Sunken Ship, the Marquesas, and several other islands and channels along the way. As the seaplane glided to land, passengers gingerly stepped directly onto the captivating shoreline. Now, the island itself had become their playground. Whether they chose to explore the historic surroundings, participate in a snorkel, or simply relax on the beach soaking up the sun and the island’s serenity, the day was theirs to shape. And as Megan Johnson, Horizon Yachts Interior Design Project Lead, who joined the Dry Tortugas excursion observed, it was an opportunity to recharge her creative talents as she relished observing sea life up close.
THESE PHOTOS Guests also had the opportunity to Sip & Paint at the hotel or explore the islands on jet skis.
THESE PHOTOS Guests were flown to the Dry Tortugas Islands for fun and exploration.
For those with a more thrill-seeking disposition, the jet ski tour did not disappoint, with the winds kicking up a slight chop and everyone returning feeling invigorated of body and mind, as if they’d just finished a serious workout while really enjoying the educational aspects of the tour. Many of the guests visiting the Rendezvous this year had been to Key West before, and these adventurous tours allowed them to explore different areas they had not seen previously. Seeking a calmer pace, some opted for the hotel’s Paint and Sip, leaving with a gallery of impressive and inspiring artworks. After an eventful day that exceeded expectations, it was back to the hotel to prepare for the evening events.
Island vibes took hold as the iconic Key West sunset dipped below the horizon. Owners, decked out in island chic, made a beeline for Matt’s Stock Island Bar & Grille, a short hop from the hotel. This is when the Horizon owners and guests who are new to the Rendezvous really start to feel like part of the family, and that is a wonderful thing to see. The bonds that were formed reminiscing about the day’s adventures and what is yet to come will be long-lasting and sincere. Exquisite local dishes fueled the conversations, and even as dinner wound down, the party spirit lingered. For many, the festivities continued on their yachts. One of several parties taking place into the wee hours of the morning was aboard Skyline, a Horizon FD87, where a sizable group reveled late into the night. Stories, jokes, and toasts flowed freely, making full use of the versatility and functionality of the FD Series design.
THESE PHOTOS Guests relaxed and enjoyed the festivities after a full day of excursions and activities.

The final day of the Key West Owners’ Rendezvous dawned with a buzz. Today was Yacht Hop! This is when aft decks transform into themed wonderlands, each with incredibly well-thought out and detailed decorations, signature cocktails, and a favorite appetizer. All in friendly competition, of course. With a marvelous display of variety, the job of judging this year's entries by Johnny Vance, the Concierge of the Perry Hotel & Marina, was made that much more challenging. Owners had spent countless hours prepping, bragging rights on the line. But beyond the competition, the true joy was in connecting with fellow yacht enthusiasts. Although the competitive part was fun and enjoyable, the opportunity to visit other owners and guests and foster friendships was what most participants enjoyed the most. It’s a recipe for cherished memories.
THESE PHOTOS Key West Vibes themed Yacht Hop and Aft Deck Decor Contest brought creativity and friendly competition between the participating yachts.

Key West's history and charm combined with an array of exciting excursions and events for our guests made this year's Rendezvous one of the most favorite yet.
Sara, owner of Horizon V68 Monaco, remarked, “Everyone does something interesting, and when you visit the various boats, you’re really meeting people.” Her husband John added, “You generally have about 10-15 minutes to go onboard, see the décor, try the signature food and drinks that they created for their yacht, and share what we devised for ours. You build relationships that turn into friendships.” As the final judging came to an end, most guests took time to rest and relax, while others carried on the aft deck parties and felt the need to “retry” some of the signature cocktails.

The competition was tight for best hors d'oeuvres and each owner's chef brought their A game.
As guests unwound after a fun-rocking day, the Horizon team was busy transforming the space for “Havana Nights.” Key West’s Cuban soul set the stage for a perfect send-off. Guests hopped out of their yacht-hopping mindset and into Havana mode, snapping photos with a gleaming 1957 Chevy, along with a custom Horizon Yachts photo wall adorned with Cuban-inspired décor and fedoras.
The pool deck morphed into a mini-Havana, complete with a hand-rolled cigar bar, a Pilar Rum tasting, appetizers followed by a culturally inspired dinner, and desserts. The irresistible dance floor beckoned, and attendees grooved to the delight of the Horizon family and the camaraderie of the night.
Rounding off the festivities, Horizon Yacht USA Director Roger Sowerbutts took the stage. He expressed his deepest gratitude to the Horizon owners for their unwavering loyalty and acknowledged the significant logistical undertaking required to orchestrate such a successful event. His sincere appreciation was extended to the dedicated Horizon staff for their tireless efforts, as well as to the Perry Hotel & Marina for their exceptional hospitality. And then the much-anticipated moment arrived: the announcement of the Yacht Hop category winners:

Best Décor: The judge and the committee were torn between Monaco, a Horizon V68, and Sherri Lynn, a Horizon FD80. Both received a prize. Pilot Lounge E84 scooped up the honorable mention.
As the final echoes of applause faded, celebrations continued well into the night as guests lingered and basked in the afterglow of a spectacular event. With the island slowly lulled into a peaceful quiet, a sense of satisfaction settled over everyone as they retired to their accommodations. Another successful Horizon Yacht USA Owners’ Rendezvous had come to an end, but the memories and the sweet anticipation of next year’s gathering would remain etched in the minds of all who attended.

It Wasn’t a Sprint… It was a Marathon!
After eight years of Horizon Power Catamarans Owners’ Rendezvous, there was only one thing left to improve this epic event: Make it longer!
This year, the Horizon Powercat family gathered in the Abaco Islands in the northern Bahamas for six days to make new connections and memories. Twelve Horizon power catamarans (PCs) and 75 owners and guests enjoyed the near weeklong celebrations, delicious food, and, of course, the lighthearted camaraderie that defines this annual event throughout the scenic anchorages and marinas of the Abacos. →

For six epic days, Horizon Power Catamarans owners, new and existing, rallied throughout the Abaco Islands.
Day 1
After the lines were thrown and all 12 PCs were cozily settled onto the dock at Hope Town Inn & Marina, the welcome dinner party awaited all those dressed in their finest island attire. A dinner filled with laughs and smiles gave way to the sandy dance floor, where the night was carried away to the lively tunes of the local band.
THESE PHOTOS Festivities began with a warm welcome by the staff of Hope Town Inn & Marina.
Day 2
With the first full day of this year’s Rendezvous landing on Cinco de Mayo, the group celebrated accordingly, and the day began with a delicious and refreshing Richie’s Ritas margarita class. After all coolers and dinghies were prepared, guests set out for the first stop of the day: a scenic lunch at the Abaco Inn. Everyone enjoyed Mexican-style food and drinks while taking in the views of the Atlantic waves crashing on white sands below. It was then back in the dinghies and off again to end the day relaxing on the beautiful sandbars of Tahiti Beach.

Day 3
A charity cornhole tournament around the resort-style pool at Hope Town Inn & Marina made for a competitive and fun start to Day 3. After the PC60 Synergy was awarded bragging rights for the cornhole tournament, everyone retreated back to their respective boats to start prepping for the infamous Pimp Your Ride competition. The creative juices were flowing in the attempt to claim one of the three elusive prizes; Most Creative, Most Unique, and Funniest. Faced with detailed themes like Despicable Me, Star Wars, and El Día de los Muertos, the judges had their work cut out for them, but in the end, the PC60 High Option won Most Creative; the PC68 Omakase won Funniest, and the PC60s Brokedown Palace and Oasis jointly claimed the title of Most Unique. After peeling off the costumes, wigs, and face paint, everyone met back on the dock for the signature Rendezvous potluck dinner with fresh stone crab and South African sausages.

From swimming pigs to Minions and Yoda, all the owners brought their A-game to claim a trophy for the Pimp Your Ride contest.
Day 4
With all the boats getting a bit of dock cabin fever, today was the perfect day for the highly anticipated Raft Up. Heading out of Hope Town Inn & Marina, the herd of cats collected again to tie up together just off the beautiful beaches of the Tilloo Cay National Reserve. Once all 12 PCs were gracefully and skillfully rafted together, the Captain’s Cocktail Competition got underway. With every boat crafting up something both beautiful and delicious, it was a near impossible task for the judges. The PC60 Fruition won the coveted prize for Best Presentation, and the combined efforts of the PC60s Brokedown Palace and Kairos garnered the award for Best Taste.

Day 5
After the commotion of the Raft Up, today was a day of relaxation—and there was no better way to relax than with lunch at the famous Pete’s Pub. Gathering at the iconic bar and grill on Little Harbour was the perfect setting to win some great prizes and raise more money for the children of Hope Town Primary School.

Day 6
The final day of the 2024 Rendezvous began bright and early with the annual fishing competition. The radios were buzzing with the cheers of fish being caught by hungry powercats. Some even thought they had the competition won, until the PC60 Brokedown Palace ended all speculation by landing their first-ever white marlin, easily claiming the Longest Fish trophy. The PC60 Synergy beat out the fishing enthusiasts aboard the PC52 My Best Life by one pound to take home the Heaviest Fish trophy. Being the final night, it had to end in style. With beautiful Hope Town as the backdrop, owners arrived at the private island of Johnny’s Cay and enjoyed a final dinner together with live music and dancing in the sand.
The 2024 Horizon Power Catamarans Owners’ Rendezvous was yet another fun-filled gathering of longtime and first-time Horizon Powercat owners. It may have been a marathon event, but one certainly worth attending!

Exploring Open Waters
Christine owners enjoy their time with family and friends by exploring the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay down to the warmer waters of The Bahamas on their Horizon FD100.
From the Chesapeake Bay in the mid-Atlantic during the summer to the warm waters and sunny weather of South Florida, Jim and Janice Loomis love to explore the open waters on their current Horizon, an FD100 named Christine
Jim’s love for boating started when he was nine years old with his parents on Chesapeake Bay near Pennsylvania. “In my early years, my parents were boaters and we traveled to northeast Maryland during the summers where my love for boating started,” recalls Jim.
Jim has owned numerous vessels throughout the years and four of those vessels have been customized Horizon Yachts. Jim’s first Horizon was an E88 and he has since owned three other Horizons, including an FD85 and an FD92.
Jim excitedly shared that he was one of the first owners of the renowned FD Series with the FD85 and he enjoyed the process of building that vessel. The anticipation about how the FD Series would run on the water was an exciting part of the build. “It ran great!” he exclaimed. Jim also mentioned that his favorite features of the FD Series include the wide-open spaces, large glass windows, the on-deck master and the fully enclosed skylounge.
YACHT NAME: Christine
MODEL: FD100
OWNERS: American
Jim said that because he buys and sells his boats quickly, he prefers to leave most of the design details up to the Horizon Team. He has enjoyed personalizing features like opening the skylounge to allow more space and adding a captain’s chair. “Overall, I like the Horizon Team to do what they do best,” expressed Jim.
During the summer, Jim and Janice venture north from South Florida toward the Chesapeake Bay, Newport, Montauk, Nantucket, and back to Chesapeake Bay before returning to Ocean Reef in the Florida Keys, where they dock their boat behind their house during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Their well-loved labradoodle, Annabelle, also joins them on their adventures.
Jim and Janice enjoy spending time on the water and making memories with their family and friends. Jim has taken up a few hobbies over the years and during his down time, you can find him fishing from his HCB Center Counsel and cruising the Abacos, the boating capital of The Bahamas. He also enjoys piloting jets and is even known to captain his own vessels, including his FD100 Christine
The couple are frequent guests of the Horizon Yacht USA Rendezvous and Jim mentioned that this past Horizon Rendezvous in Key West, Florida was his favorite yet.
Jim is currently considering the purchase of a new FD110 and the Horizon Yacht USA Team is working on the details for the next Rendezvous so more memories and fun times are in the future for Horizon Yacht USA and Jim and Janice Loomis.

OWNER EXPERIENCE
OFF THE GRID: DR. A AND HIS NEW
“GAME CHANGER,” THE PC60 SYNERGY
The New York Times’ best-selling author and health and lifestyle medicine advocate, Dr. Wayne Andersen, finds the perfect harmony between his wellness philosophy and his love of adventure on the open water, courtesy of his Horizon Powercat.
Sitting in the semi-enclosed flybridge of his PC60 Synergy, Dr. Wayne Andersen, aka Dr. A, is right at home surrounded by the brilliant turquoise of the crystalline waters reflected in his sunglasses. His love for The Bahamas is palpable, and he is grateful to have shared it with his family.
“My kids grew up here; every free moment we had, we would be sailing through the Abacos and Exumas. It is the most special place to be together with family and friends,” he says, echoing the sentiments of Jimmy Buffett’s classic song, First Look, which describes not being prepared for one’s first glimpse of the Caribbean and Bahamas. “Amor a primeira vista.” Indeed, this lyrically captures Dr. A’s voyages and is the first of two Buffett quotes that reflect his experiences in these idyllic waters.
The peaceful solitude aboard the Synergy is interrupted only by the gentle lapping of the water against the hulls below. This next-generation Horizon power catamaran is the perfect blend of style, comfort, and sustainability. Delivered this past spring with an advanced Victron power package paired with a Termodinamica variable-speed A/C system (Read more about the system in this issue on page 10.), Synergy is the embodiment of silent and efficient cruising.
Augmented by solar power, alternators charge the boat’s battery package, which necessitates generator use for one or two periods per day in hot climates and about one hour per day on cooler days. This innovative system not only reduces fuel consumption and noise but also allows for interior comfort as well as peace of mind while cruising “off-grid,” something Dr. A put to the test soon after taking delivery.
OFF THE BEATEN PATH
The Bahamas is a special destination for Dr. A, who is captivated by its secluded hideaways. To recapture the sense of solitude discovered years ago in places like Staniel Cay and the lower Exumas, he was keen to venture to the lone Ragged Island chain in the Jumento Cays.
“They warned me, ‘Don’t go down there unless you are fully self-sustainable, because there is nothing there,’” he says of this idyllic yet remote area in the southwestern region of The Bahamas. “In that environment, we make our own water and our own power. We brought plenty of provisions in the freezer, and there were lots of fresh fish and other sea creatures to catch every day. We spent eight days and saw but two other people the entire time.
Then, as if he’d just caught himself letting slip a treasured confidence, he laughs and adds, “In fact, I don’t even know if I want you mentioning this because we need to keep people out of the Jumentos!”
WIND CATCHERS
The former critical care physician-turned-lifestyle-medicine advocate’s connection with sailing began during his fellowship at the University of Miami in the Surgical Critical Care facility at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. A single sailing lesson ignited a lifelong passion. “I took my first sailing course at the Coconut Grove Sail Club and loved it so much I rented a 19-foot sailboat and headed straight to the Keys—after just one lesson!”
After his fellowship, the allure deepened. The Miami International Boat Show marked a turning point when Dr. A purchased his very first boat: a 35-foot Allmand. “I remember being so excited that we left the marina at three o’clock in the morning and headed for The Bahamas. The only equipment I had was a compass and an RDF! [Radio Direction Finder]”
Soon, marriage brought on a pivotal decision. Having asked his wife, “Do you want to buy a house or a sailboat?” there was no contest. So, with a purchased 44-foot F&C, they sailed along the U.S. eastern seaboard from Long Island to Newfoundland.
Later, to accommodate their daughters and friends, they chartered sailing catamarans from time to time in Providence Island, but Dr. A was unimpressed. “Sailing cats, however, don’t sail worth a crap,” he says. “You’re not going anywhere on them.”
THESE PHOTOS
Dr. A enjoys the flexibility and comfort of the Synergy 's flybridge, which serves as his private, air-conditioned office with incredible views.

ENTER THE POWERCAT
One day, while moored in Warderick Wells in the Exumas aboard his 54-foot Moody Cutter, Dr. A noticed a Horizon PC60 cruising past. Drawn to the idea of getting to his favorite destinations quickly, “I could instantly tell that this boat was made for serious cruising.”
A shared passion for sailing brought Dr. A and Horizon Power Catamarans Founder & CEO, Richard Ford, together. They bonded over their shared sailing backgrounds and enjoyed long discussions about how sailing influences the style and usability of the power catamaran.
“Richard is a proper sailor; he knows what a proper yacht should have.”—Dr. A.
SYNERGY WRITTEN IN THE STARS
With copious storage capacity and room to house a large tender with a 100hp engine, Dr. A says the PC60 is a game-changing step-up from the PC52. “It changes the dynamic of where we can base the PC60, just about anywhere, then take day trips on the big tender,” he says.
“The flybridge is my favorite space. It’s like my own private office, fully air-conditioned and with all of the comforts of home, but with such an incredible view.”
Off the beaten path and off-grid doesn’t mean offline. “Still being in business and being able to communicate daily without having to go to certain places for a signal is essential,” he says.
“I’m currently preparing for an international conference and had Zoom calls this morning with the team in England, all thanks to the Starlink capabilities on this boat. Even down in the remote areas where we like to cruise, we are able to communicate like we are next door.”
This led to Dr. A commissioning a Horizon PC52, which he says he loved for its shallow draft, the ease of watersports, and the flexibility to host family and friends. Confident that the power catamaran was the right fit for his family, he partnered with Richard Ford to build a PC60.
“It was the perfect partnership,” he says. “I worked with Richard on the options and the design of the exterior spaces and the helm, and then worked with Leigh on the interior layout and finishes.” Dr. A says he particularly loves the double STIDD helm chair and the flexibility of the flybridge to be enclosed during inclement weather.
Life aboard the PC60 is a seamless blend of creature comforts and fun. Dr. A says he loves how the mood of each space changes throughout the day. “At night, it’s party time,” he says. “We go up on the foredeck, turn off the onboard lights, and play a game with the sky—one point for a plane, three points for a satellite, and five points for a shooting star. The first person to fifty wins! Every night is magical, filled with laughter and memories.
“Then, when daytime rolls back around, being surrounded by beautiful blue water allows the exterior of the boat to shine.”
Which brings us to the second quote from a Buffett, this one from the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett, who said, “If at first you do succeed, quit trying.” Sounds about right when paradise is found.

Horizon Yachts Seattle Office Grand Opening Open House and Roche Harbor Events Introduce West Coast Team and Debut V77 CMY
In June, Horizon Yacht USA inaugurated its brand-new Seattle office at the Salmon Bay Marine Center and the city’s yachting community gathered for an unforgettable Open House extravaganza.
The Horizon Yacht USA team welcomed brokers, clients, owners, and local neighbors from the Salmon Bay Marine Center for a tour of their new office and the grand unveiling of the Horizon V77 CMY, elegantly poised in her splendor for guests to explore and marvel at up close.
Austin Lin, President of Horizon Group’s Vision Shipyard, flew in from Taiwan to share his expertise and insights on this Cockpit Motoryacht. Renowned American superyacht designer and fellow Seattle resident Jonathan Quinn Barnett, the creative behind the V77 CMY, was on hand to regale attendees with the story behind this unique and versatile design.

V77 CMY
With gorgeous sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s throughout the afternoon, guests mingled and savored hors d’oeuvres while enjoying live tunes from local musicians Annie J and RL Heyer.
After the Open House, the Horizon Yacht USA team took the V77 CMY for a scenic excursion around the popular Ballard Locks and sailed Lake Union and Puget Sound, showcasing the vessel’s prowess and the breathtaking beauty of the Pacific Northwest. All in all, the V77 CMY's appearance at the Seattle Open House was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who were there to experience it.
About a month later, the V77 CMY was spotted again journeying north through the Puget Sound toward the San Juan Islands, a world-renowned haven for wildlife, whale watching, hiking, and water sports. At the helm was Horizon Yachts West Coast Sales Associate and Captain, Eli Arvidson, who docked the boat at the Roche Harbor Marina. From July 17–21, guests explored the V77 CMY’s customizations and features, praising her open salon with its double-door entrance and spacious deck layout. The hydraulic fold-down transom, which expanded the aft-deck entertainment area, garnered particular attention. Overall, the favorable feedback received on the V77 CMY distinguished Horizon Yachts’ competitive offering and established Roche Harbor as a key location for future summer showcases.

2024 Sydney International Boat Show
FD80's Craftsmanship and AMSA 2C Certification Draws Crowds
In an encore to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May, the 2024 Sydney International Boat Show was abuzz with excitement as nearly 42,000 visitors gathered from August 1–4 at the picturesque Darling Harbour for a celebration of superyachts, boats, and cutting-edge marine technology.
At the heart of the action, Horizon’s eye-catching display at the Cockle Bay Marina entrance featured the stunning FD80 Hull 12, a true showstopper that wowed many attendees. Guests were enchanted by the yacht’s impeccable layout and the luxurious quality of its finishes. Built to meet the rigorous standards of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA 2C), this vessel exemplifies Horizon’s dedication to crafting yachts that are not only beautiful but also tailored to meet specific maritime requirements.
Onboard, this FD80’s interior offers a warm, inviting ambiance, accentuated by floor-to-ceiling windows that usher in natural light. With generous areas thoughtfully planned for socializing, dark koto wood and rich-textured accents speak to the artistry of the design. Accommodating up to eight guests in four cabins—including an on-deck full-beam master stateroom—the yacht features a split-use skylounge and a heated Jacuzzi complete with its own bar counter. And for those with a taste for adventure, the design includes a hydraulic folding radar mast and a one-ton helicopter landing pad.
The FD80 was a major drawcard, but it was just one part of a broader wave of interest in Horizon Yachts at the show. Attendees were keen to explore Horizon’s capabilities in building AMSA 2C-certified yachts, which offer owners a unique opportunity to own a charter-ready vessel. The event also led to an offer on a brokerage vessel, with negotiations currently in full swing. Build-wise, particular interest in the FD80 and FD90 in the form of numerous leads was received, with secondary inspections scheduled at Horizon Yacht Australia’s headquarters.
Horizon Yacht Australia’s Director, Mark Western, expressed his delight with the show’s outcome, citing the FD80’s well-received showcase as a key highlight. The event reinforced the demand for high-volume models, with the FD80’s Survey compliance and charter-ready amenities making it a standout offering. Additionally, bespoke and brokerage options also generated significant interest, further solidifying Horizon’s position in the Australian market.

The PC68 is notable also for its innovative flybridge deck layout and its Portuguese Deck forward. The latest PC68 features a semi-enclosed flybridge with twin helm chairs, covered dining and seating areas and a dayhead. The tender is stowed on the boat deck aft, which is fitted with a bar and grill station and the aforementioned Portuguese Deck offers convertible lounging, seating or dining. Equipped with twin MAN i6 850hp engines, the PC68 enjoys a 1,850nm range at 9 knots.

Also on display will be the latest PC60, which was commissioned for experienced owners who thoroughly enjoyed their previous PC60 with an Open Salon layout. This new PC60 features an On-Deck Master configuration and, similar to the PC68, sees the VIP and twin cabins in the starboard hull with an additional twin and the master stateroom’s large ensuite in the port hull.
This powercat features an open flybridge with a helm chair bookended by raised settees forward, a wet bar aft to port and a raised dinette and wraparound settee to starboard. The spacious boat deck houses the tender when underway and provides plentiful space for entertainment or relaxation in the sun when the tender is launched.
Both of these new powercat models are also equipped with Horizon’s latest power package system, which marries a Victron phosphate battery with a Termodinamica variable speed air conditioning system for minimal generator usage and maximum efficiency. (Read more about the system in this issue on page 10.) This system works in tandem to keep the interior cool, dry, and quiet for nearly 20 hours on battery power alone. Now offered as standard on all Horizon Power Catamarans builds, the new battery system has demonstrated an 84% improvement in energy efficiencies while offering many convenient “smart” features such as remote monitoring and auto generator start/stop.
