Imagine standing on the deck of a custom luxury yacht that embodies the ideal harmony of comfort, safety, and performance for every journey on the sea. This is the reality that Horizon Yachts, an industry leader in composite yacht building, brings to life. Leveraging advanced technology to craft high-strength, lightweight, and high-quality yacht components, Horizon continues to build on its multi-decade legacy of pushing the boundaries of yacht manufacturing.
What exactly goes into creating these stunning yachts? The secret sauce lies in Atech, Horizon’s dedicated composite manufacturing facility. Atech’s immersive showroom is an invitation to step into the world of yacht building and experience firsthand how the company works its magic to create cutting-edge components.
One visitor aptly described the Atech showroom as a “mini museum of yacht manufacturing.” As you enter this exhibition space, you embark on a sensory journey that includes interactive visuals, sounds, hands-on activities, and engaging guided tours that take you through the entire process of creating a luxury yacht. From the advantages of composite materials to precision molds and patented vacuum infusion technology, all aspects of the manufacturing process are on display.
Your journey begins with the “Why Composites?” and “Composites = Infinite Possibilities” areas, where you will discover the advantages of composites over traditional metals and learn how these materials are used throughout a yacht, from the hull to the deck, and how they contribute to a safer, more comfortable, and high-performance cruising experience.
Next, the “3D Profile Measurement” area highlights the importance of precision molds in creating composite components. This section showcases how Horizon verifies precise mold dimensions for accuracy by using 3D Optical Coordinate Measuring System and Reality Capture technologies. This meticulous attention to detail is crucial for high-quality production that meets the company’s exacting standards. Additionally, Reality Capture is applied not only prior to production to assess mold dimensions but also during the manufacturing process to ensure proper structural positioning and post-production to confirm that the finished product aligns with the design specifications.
BELOW Each detail on a yacht harmonizes composites for safety, form, and function.
Moving on to the production process, the “Vacuum Infusion” and “6D Infusion” areas present Horizon’s patented vacuum infusion technology for hull manufacturing. A scaled-down version of the process demonstrates how lightweight, high-strength hulls are created. Here, you get an up-close look at hulls covered with vacuum materials, see how a vacuum is formed within the bag, observe resin flowing through laminates, and examine the quality of hulls infused with longitudinal girders and transverse frames in a single process.
At this stage, you may be wondering how resin gets evenly distributed throughout the hull, particularly in the typically thick laminates at the bottom. The answer lies in the use of 3D glass fabrics in targeted areas. These fabrics allow resin to flow in three directions, promoting uniform distribution. Central to this process is Horizon’s 6D Infusion technology, which produces lighter, stronger, and ultra-high-quality hulls. You can easily compare the superior quality of products made with 3D glass to those made with standard 2D glass fabrics by examining the specimens on display.
Once production wraps up, the focus shifts to quality assurance—a crucial step in the journey of every yacht. Enter the “Non-Destructive Testing” area, where aerospace-grade inspection technologies such as Active Infrared Thermography and Shearography come into the spotlight. Each yacht component’s internal quality and structural integrity are inspected using these advanced techniques to maintain the company’s strict quality controls. Since 2012, Horizon has championed non-destructive testing to verify that every yacht meets rigorous quality standards before delivery. In fact, it stands out as the only shipyard in the global yacht-building industry equipped with such advanced inspection technology. This commitment to excellence not only perserves the craftsmanship but also guarantees that each yacht is ready to navigate the open waters with confidence.

A gamut of structural integrity tests is conducted with specimens.
Give it a try and see the difference in materials by examining specimens on display.
The tour doesn’t stop there. Additional showroom topics, such as “Why Materials Testing Matters?”, “Cosmetic Materials,” “Resin,” “Fabrics,” and “Core & Sandwich Structure,” invite you to delve into the unique characteristics of each material. Interactive experiences abound, illustrating the importance of selecting the right materials for yacht construction. For instance, you can step onto three different composite panels laid out on the showroom floor, simulating the sensation of walking on a yacht deck. As you traverse these panels, you will immediately notice the differences in stiffness and stability offered by various material combinations. This hands-on experience vividly contrasts single-layer composites with sandwich structures, a key technology in reducing hull weight.
If you have the chance to visit Horizon Yachts in Taiwan, don’t miss the opportunity to explore yacht-building technology at Atech’s showroom. This is more than just an outing—it’s an invitation to witness firsthand how innovative engineering and design come together to create the yacht of your dreams. Engage with interactive displays, experience the latest innovations, and gain insights into the craftsmanship that defines each Horizon masterpiece.

16th Award, One Distinctive Yacht. AWARDS
In a world where accolades often blend into a crowded field of recognition, there are distinctions that transcend mere trophies and certificates. For Horizon Yachts, winning consecutive Taiwan Excellence Award is the culmination of sustained momentum and a testament to the hard work, determination, and expertise that underpin outstanding achievement.
This year, Horizon was once again the sole yacht manufacturer to have received this honor, with the highly versatile V77 CMY (Cockpit Motoryacht) receiving the nod. The win aligns with the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs’ goals of establishing the awards in 1993 to recognize innovation and excellence across a variety of industries. Presented to nominees who meet a rigorous selection process to identify innovative value based on four major factors—R&D, design, quality, and marketing—Taiwan Excellence is the benchmark for distinctive Made in Taiwan products celebrated globally.
Demonstrating this spirit of innovation, the V77 CMY brings superyacht amenities to life within a more compact build. Onboard comfort is optimized through both
innovative layout design and performance enhancements. The yacht, conceived on the drawing boards of the acclaimed Jonathan Quinn Barnett (JQB) design studio, is a beautiful harmony of aesthetics and functionality. A signature element is the versatile cockpit, which can be equipped just as easily with an array of outdoor lounging amenities as with all the tools for reeling in the big catch, including rod holders, electric reel outlets, dual live-bait transom wells, and ample storage capacity.
Another hallmark of the V77 CMY is its plumb bow, which showcases Stimson Yachts’ groundbreaking hull design that extends the waterline length while reducing drag at lower speeds, resulting in improved maneuverability and responsiveness.
The main deck aft flows into a cozy salon with a seating arrangement that maximizes vantage points for taking in the seascape through large windows. Amidship, a well-appointed galley with a central island serves as a hub for socializing, connecting the salon aft to the forward dining area while providing ample storage and essentials for hosting large gatherings.
Below deck, the four-stateroom layout, including a full-beam ensuite master stateroom, offers a tranquil setting, complete with a flowing walkway that evokes a grand lobby-like ambience. Crew quarters located aft ensure guests’ privacy and have direct access to the cockpit.
The bridge deck provides a commanding view to enjoy breathtaking vistas and exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. Two helm chairs are positioned forward, while the enclosed skylounge with a plush L-shaped sofa serves as a secondary salon, ideal for conversations between guests and the captain. For the ultimate alfresco entertainment experience, a U-shaped bar on the boat deck is the perfect destination.
With an adaptable layout, the V77 CMY caters to owner-operators’ desire for maximized outdoor living spaces and an ingeniously fitted framework for easy operation. Intelligently designed use of space brings together impeccable luxury and functionality, transforming every voyage into an unforgettable experience. Judging by the experience of Horizon’s showcasing of the V77 CMY at boat shows and during the Seattle Open House in 2024 (Read the full news in Vol. 65, page 60), the U.S. market reception has been overwhelmingly positive.
Committed to excellence in craftsmanship, Horizon Yachts continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in yacht building, and the V77 CMY’s award recognition is a shining tribute to this dedication.
Ingeniously fitted for ease of operation, the V77 CMY features a hydraulic fold-down transom for multi-use purposes, spacious lounges, and a full-beam master stateroom.
Receiving this award underscores Horizon's commitment to excellence and innovation in every aspect of yacht building.
Sleek design and personalized features come together for grand luxury living at its finest.
Creative endeavors transcend mere functionality. They are more than just beauty that’s in the eye of the beholder. They embody a harmonious blend of engineering prowess and exquisite design that delights the senses.
Such is the story of Miss Michelle, the latest addition to Horizon’s Raised Pilothouse (RP) Series. This RP122 Hull 9 exemplifies sleek lines and inviting interior living spaces and stands as a masterpiece of maritime craftsmanship. Compliant with the Hull & Stability standards set by Bureau Veritas and building on the achievements of other Horizon models, she incorporates design cues from the acclaimed FD (Fast Displacement) Series, such as a High-Performance Piercing Bow for a smooth and efficient ride on the water. An easy-flowing interior, generous accommodations, and an ingenious fold-out beach club platform round off a truly compelling package.
First impressions aboard Miss Michelle are a showcase of discreet refinement. Meticulously crafted with a contemporary aesthetic, a liberating layout effortlessly accommodates a wide range of events, from lavish soirées to more intimate occasions. On the expansive aft deck, a sprawling U-shaped sofa beckons as it wraps around a teak coffee table, its surface gleaming with a high-gloss starburst design. Here, the aroma of freshly brewed java, conveniently accessed thanks to a Hi-Lo coffee machine stowed away to starboard at the owner‘s request, mingles with the crisp sea salt air. For a complete entertainment experience, a 43-inch fold-up LED TV and subwoofers provide the backdrop and soundscape for social gatherings.
From large-group events to intimate occasions, the spacious layout united by a light-toned color palette offers a convivial backdrop.
Transitioning to the main salon, guests are greeted by a sumptuous, L-shaped sofa in a serene and refreshing environment, courtesy of the pure, white base tone paired with rich tones of ebony and walnut. This palette establishes an understated elegant setting, as seen in the carefully selected Thassos-white marble flooring, unique rugs, and the “MM” initials in the welcome Angora pearl marble slab. Further enhancing this exquisite ambience is a fully custom Lutron lighting system. Overhead, dynamic RGB ceiling lights infuse the room with life, transforming the environment as needed. Other amenities that complement the visual appeal of the salon are easily within reach, including the owner-specified, state-ofthe-art entertainment system beneath the 75-inch fold-up TV to starboard, along with a wet bar neatly concealed.
Onboard dining is an experience in itself. The custom formal dining table, designed to seat ten, can be conveniently
separated from the main lounge by an electric partition. The table, comprised mainly of walnut and accented with sycamore, maple, and ebony, is bookended by two bespoke armchairs that add an owner-personalized quality to the dining experience. Overhead, a beautifully carved glass light fixture, encased in a sleek stainless-steel frame finished in brushed carbon, casts a soft glow, elevating every meal into a truly special occasion. This level of refined detail continues throughout the main deck. A large 85-inch Frame TV is mounted on the wall between the dining room and the galley, furnishing the space with dynamic artistic décor. Inside the galley, configured to the owner’s preferences, beautiful Cambria stone adds a bright touch while ample capacity for storage and functionality caters to culinary creativity. A quaint foyer, separated from the dining area by an electric pocket door and complete with a wardrobe, provides a smooth transition to the other decks.
In keeping with the eloquent design aesthetic, the on-deck master stateroom, featuring a king-sized bed, walk-in closets, and a vanity, enjoys a tranquil setting enhanced by rich ebony and

AMSA 1E & 2C certified, exquisitely crafted with subtle nods to the Australian landscape.
An ethereal Australian landscape-inspired statement resides in every detail.
With a multitude of launches since the Cor D. Rover Fast Displacement (FD) Series concept was first unveiled almost a decade ago, one might think that there is a straightforward template to execute each new build. That’s not quite the case. While many technological innovations have been brought to bear to refine the strengths of earlier models, each new vessel is finessed to fulfill owner specifications, resulting in unique creations that align with individual tastes and visions.
That is abundant in every way in the brand new Orraia, a fast-cruising yacht that is a statement of luxury and performance for the discerning Australian clientele. As the most popular in the FD Series, the FD90 bridges the gap between the mid-sized FD75 and FD80 models on the one end and the larger FD100, FD110, and FD125 superyachts on the other. With a balance of plenty of onboard living space and superyacht amenities in a streamlined framework, this latest FD90 addition to the lineup is also noteworthy for its Australian AMSA 1E & 2C Certifications, making it an ideal choice for owners seeking a charter-ready vessel.
Australian Artisanal and thoughtfully conceived deck spaces complement the FD Series’ impressive overall interior volume. The main deck aft showcases a curated arrangement of a Hi-Lo teak coffee/dining table with convertible functionality, a six- to eight-seat sofa set, a wet bar, and a 43-inch fold-down TV. Side decks to port and starboard lead to a dining/galley entrance and to stairs up to the foredeck. Continuing the FD Series’ reputation for maximizing guest enjoyment, the foredeck offers a U-shaped dinette perfect for alfresco dining, plus fold-up sun pads for basking in the sun’s embrace. This area comes equipped with its own sun awning for adjustable shade. Through sliding glass doors, the main salon is revealed as a captivating tribute to the natural wonders of the Australian landscape—a kaleidoscope of coastal hues, greens and browns of eucalypt forest, coppers of the Red Centre, and misty greys of the High Country. Warm tones of silver oak cabinetry, bronze accents, and dark koto wood lend a sense of modern sophistication, while the L-shaped sofa and bronze-edged coffee table invite guests to sink in and immerse themselves in the serene ambience.
This design narrative continues forward in the multifunctional dining area, with prominence given to a ten-seater table which can be closed off to the galley by a Hi-Lo partition for privacy. Ample counter space and natural lighting in the well-equipped galley enhance the sense of openness, while the rich hues of koto wood, brushed copper finish metal, and Royal Peacock marble-like stonework add depth and character to the culinary hub.
Woven throughout the five staterooms is the koto wood motif, which imparts distinct textures. The FD Series’ hallmark full-beam master stateroom is secluded forward on the main deck and comprises a king-sized bed with a custom amber mirror headboard, plentiful closets for storage, and a large his-and-hers ensuite positioned forward. Expansive windows to port and starboard invite beautiful vistas as a backdrop to the start of each day.
Accessed via the starboard-side foyer on the main deck, the stairwell leads to the bridge deck above and to the guest staterooms belowdecks. Cadorin-gray sand stairs and a faux marble wall create a luxurious feel when transitioning to the lower deck. Four deluxe ensuite staterooms offer tranquil retreats for guests and comprise mirrored VIPs amidships, a twin cabin to port, and a versatile queen cabin in the bow with a bed that separates and rotates outward to form two V-shaped twins.
The engine room houses twin CAT C18A engines of 1,136hp each and fuel storage for the yacht’s sea-trialed range of up to 1,540nm at 10 knots. Aft of the engine room, crew quarters for up to four and a crew mess provide comfortable accommodations, while the adjacent garage is equipped with a washer/dryer and abundant storage space for watersports toys.
Offering a new twist on the concept of—to use somewhat whimsical wording—“business in the front, party in the back,” this FD90’s upper-deck layout is both dynamic and adaptable. The wheelhouse with three black leather helm chairs is set against a full-panel suite of Garmin navigation instruments. This is complemented by a CZONE monitoring system, which allows the captain to remotely monitor the vessel using an iPad. Completing this fully enclosed area is a raised L-shaped dinette with a convertible sofa bed and a dayhead to starboard.
Large glass doors glide open to reveal the split-use skylounge. Here, a plush U-shaped sofa with an extendable Hi-Lo table is situated to port, while four bar stools are positioned at a full bar to starboard, which also vaunts a mesmerizing blue agate façade. Further aft, the scene is set for unforgettable outdoor entertainment and relaxation, with the Jacuzzi tub taking center stage, accompanied by a full complement of BBQ equipment for sublime grilling.
A first for the FD Series, this FD90 accommodates an Oceanbridge mood-setting lighting system that is sure to amplify the entertainment experience. The patented multi-zone lighting controller is designed for a bespoke ambience at the click of a button from a smartphone, tablet, or similar device.
Offering the quintessential Australian experience, onboard the Orraia is where every moment is a chance to savor the journey, from the marina to the open sea.

From the get-go, the sixteenth build of Horizon’s FD80 sports features not typically found in the acclaimed Fast Displacement (FD) Series. Protruding like spires on a skyscraper, specially fitted outriggers hint at a fishing system that takes center stage in this yacht’s design. And there’s more to it than what appears at first glance. Indeed, Amethyst marks a significant milestone as the inaugural FD Series yacht to include a fishing cockpit tailored to the needs of avid anglers.
As the first Horizon commission by a passionate boater, Amethyst embodies the perfect blend of style, sophistication, and adventure in a four-stateroomplus-crew layout with copious entertaining spaces. The yacht’s styling pays homage to its namesake. The owners, both born in the month of February and united in a passion for fishing, chose their shared birthstone as a symbol of good fortune and personal significance. This thoughtful touch is beautifully echoed throughout the yacht’s interior, where rich purple accents are harmoniously paired with water-bleached walnut finishes.
Mark Western, director of Horizon Yacht Australia, noted that the team’s collaboration with the owners was instrumental in bringing a unique design vision to life beyond the expectations of the category. The result is a refined vessel crafted for the sheer enjoyment of reeling in a large catch, along with a host of lavish entertainment options to enhance the experience.
Catch of a lifetime: the ultimate fusion of fishing and fine living.
Powered by twin MTU 1,600hp engines and twin Onan 27kW generators, Amethyst delivers superior performance and an unforgettable angling experience. Custom-built for anglers to feel right at home, every detail in the fishing cockpit has been carefully considered to be ready for reeling. The starboard side is a hub ready for when the fishing action begins, featuring a Reelax Game Fighting Chair, a teppanyaki grill, and a helm station, while ample storage space keeps everything within easy reach.
On the port side, a portable induction cooktop offers a convenient spot to prepare meals, while a one-meter bait transom well, two tuna tubes, and storage space are well-located aft. Discreetly positioned beneath the wooden floor is an icebox with an Eskimo Ice machine and storage compartments.
The fishing tool room is a treasure trove of storage solutions, with a fridge and freezer on the port side and a fishing rod locker to starboard, ensuring that all the necessary gear is neatly stowed away and easily accessible.
For a masterclass in blending form and function, look no further than the main deck aft. This is where a custom dining table featuring an anchor motif with an amethyst inlay sets the tone for a nautical-inspired space. Flanking the built-in sofa, top-loading refrigerator-freezers ensure that chilled refreshments are within easy reach, while a portside drawer refrigerator discreetly integrated near the entrance to the salon and accessible via a pocket door that slides open provides additional storage.
Upon entering the salon, guests are greeted by the calming undertone of water-bleached walnut juxtaposed with the flourish of the purple lounge chair, while a rug with a flowing fish pattern in different purple shading adds a touch of whimsy to the space. An L-shaped sofa with concealed under-storage and a bespoke Michelangelo quartzite coffee table occupy the port side. To starboard, a 65-inch TV folds away when not in use, revealing more of the sea view. Demarcating the lounge from the galley forward are full-height custom mullion panels with RGBW backlighting. Inspired by the enchanting undersea world, these translucent panels evoke the vibrant beauty of ocean life.
Moving forward, the open-style galley presents a cohesive design, with Michelangelo quartzite unifying the large island, which features three bar stools, countertops and the heated flooring. The cabinetry includes a custom vacuum-sealing drawer, added at the owner’s request, which enhances the space’s usability and storage capacity.
In the main deck foyer, the glass façade of the wine cooler is mirrored on the dropped ceiling, amplifying the sense of heightened expanse. A black metal-rimmed partition in clear glass frames the stairwell, highlighting a padded wall with a wavy pattern that resembles a captivating piece of art.

After a full day’s outdoor activities, nothing compares to the cozy comfort of the cabins. On Amethyst, the master stateroom is a true gem. Spanning the full beam of the forwardmost section of the main deck, this is a spacious and comfortable retreat that combines modern design with high-end amenities. The custom mattress and bed frame with storage drawer are set against a full-height, backlit headboard upholstered in Texdecor vinyl wallcovering. Facing the bed, a dash of color is introduced by a 55-inch TV nestled within a bespoke Affresco art feature wall that creates a striking visual contrast while echoing the subtle amethyst hues that permeate the yacht.
In the ensuite, Brazil Jade tiles harmonize beautifully with black metal fixtures, creating a fusion of organic elegance and contemporary style. Heated flooring adds a luxurious touch, while a full-height mirror on the sliding door facing the bow amplifies a sense of depth.
Belowdecks, a trio of VIP ensuite staterooms awaits, each marked by metal nameplates and with its own distinct charm. Ruby, the VIP in the bow, dazzles with its red accents and features a V-berth with rotating beds that can be joined or separated as two twins depending on guest needs. To starboard, Sapphire offers a serene sanctuary in soft blue tones that foster a calming and inviting atmosphere. The portside VIP, Emerald, lives up to its name with refreshing green hues with a rejuvenating vibe. Both the mirrored VIPs amidships offer panoramic windows,
inviting breathtaking views that elevate the luxurious experience of these remarkable spaces.
Sharing the multifunctional layout of the lower deck, the laundry room includes handy accessories such as the owner-requested hanging rod for air-drying delicate items or organizing clothing. Enhancing these thoughtful features are extensive storage options, a compact stacked washer and dryer, a handy pull-out ironing board, and a wash basin, all designed to maximize functionality and convenience.

Debbie Lou owners share how their lifelong love for boating and the cherished family memories from their journeys on the water led them to build their dream yacht, a Horizon P105.
From a young age, life on the water has always been an integral part of family life for Louis Chenevert. Spending summer weekends on a lake north of Montreal instilled in Louis a love for the water, boating and the memories that were created with his loved ones, sharing meals and stories together on the water.
Later in life, Louis’ younger brother bought a Bayliner 29’ and used it on the same lake that they both frequented with their family as children. Louis loved the sound and torque of the Chevy small-block engine and appreciated how fast and quiet it was. He and his wife, Debra, cherished their time on the boat with his brother and all the special memories they created. Once their two daughters were born and they were able to share with them their love of boating, they knew that they wanted to create the same memories and experiences with their daughters on their own vessel.
The family's connection with Horizon began with an 82-foot build (top right), which became their favorite place for memorable gatherings.
While Louis was working as President of Pratt & Whitney and living in Farmington, Connecticut, his busy schedule limited his time with his family, and he wanted to be able to create lasting memories with his wife, daughters, extended family and friends with the time they did share together. Living only 40 minutes from Long Island Sound, Louis decided that it was time to purchase his first family boat and was soon the owner of a Hatteras RPH 63.
“I marveled at all the machinery, technology and new places to discover from Westbrook, Connecticut to the New York Statue of Liberty, Port Washington, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and the list goes on,” stated Louis. “The new opportunity with this boat was that it could be in Florida or the Bahamas, so we would be looking forward to special moments with our daughters and friends from high school year-round.”
Once Louis and Debra completed the basic boating class that is required in the state of Connecticut, Louis discovered his love for driving the boat and especially docking. He also hired a full-time captain to maintain the boat and systems as his goal was to improve the boat whenever something needed attention.

Finding their sea legs (paws?) just fine. The entourage of fur babies settling into life on the water.
After a family trip to the Bahamas in 2005, and encountering rough sea conditions, Louis and Debra decided that they needed a boat with stabilizers and more room for their family. They began the search to find the perfect boat, with hopes of having features like a spacious sun pad for their daughters to spend time with their friends, a day head on the closed bridge and a swim platform. After looking at a few different brands, and then meeting with Horizon Yachts Director, Roger Sowerbutts, Horizon Yachts quickly became the preferred manufacturer because of the design team’s willingness to adjust layouts and features to meet their needs. They soon began building an 82’ Horizon model that became an 85’ Horizon with an enclosed skybridge, stabilizers and bigger CAT engines.
While building the 85’ Horizon, Roger Sowerbutts suggested that Louis connect with current Horizon owners and Louis stated that his exchanges with the owners were always positive.
After his first visit to Taiwan, Louis was introduced to John Lu and the team of engineers, and he quickly recognized their capabilities and passion to meet his design and building needs. In late 2006, Debbie Lou was delivered, and they began to create wonderful memories with their daughters, and soon husbands, on their travels. They began welcoming grandchildren and some trips to the British Virgin Islands and other special trips throughout the year allowed the family to gather together on the boat and it soon became their favorite gathering place.
In 2013, with the family growing and more grandchildren joining them on their excursions, Louis and Debra decided it was time to build a larger boat, and they set their sights on the Horizon P105 Tri-deck, which allowed for the addition of special rooms for the grandchildren and upgraded safety features, like a triple rail and Lexan on the upper deck rails. They also envisioned a large country kitchen to seat 10 people to accommodate for cooler mornings in New England.
Once the design and details were finalized, Louis and Debra knew that their new Horizon P105 Tri-Deck, which they named Debbie Lou, would be their last boat and because of the ability of the Horizon Yachts Team to accommodate their requests, they knew that they could design and build this boat to be the boat of their dreams.
Their favorite places to journey on Debbie Lou include Newport, Rhode Island, Martha’s Vineyard, Maine, Sag Harbor, Greenport, and Port Jefferson in New York. The summer months are spent at their home port in Westbrook, Connecticut and during the winter months, they head south to St. Petersburg, Florida, where Debbie Lou is docked at the historical Vinoy Marina at the private Pasadena Yacht & Country Club. Her grand presence quickly caught the attention of the locals who marvel at her exquisite design and details, and she soon became a popular landmark on the dock. It’s common for Louis and Debra to be asked about Debbie Lou’s whereabouts while she’s away for the summer months.
Upon meeting John Lu and the engineering team at Horizon's shipyard, Louis immediately recognized their capability and dedication to fulfilling his design and construction requirements.
Every year, on their daughter Sophie’s birthday, they journey on Debbie Lou to Newport, Rhode Island, which was the site where Sophie met her husband at a Hatteras Rendezvous years earlier. They reminisce about their wedding at the historic Rosecliff Mansion. Their other daughter Lisa was married at the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut and they also enjoy visiting and exploring the quaint town.
Their family loves to tube and wakeboard behind their 18’ diesel tender and the grandkids love to paddle board, kayak, and enjoy taking the wheel and running the boat. The family always looks forward to their time aboard Debbie Lou and traveling to their favorite places, while enjoying that special feeling of having a home away from home.
Louis is often asked what he would change on Debbie Lou if he ever decided to build a new boat, and his answer is always “Nothing!”
From the tri-deck design to the OctoPlex Digital Switching system, Autronica Fire and Security AS, and classic interior, Louis believes that Horizon truly delivered on all expectations. He believes that his relationship with Roger and the dedication and attention to detail from the Horizon Team in the U.S. and Taiwan, were the perfect combination to start building his dream yacht. Louis and Debra are confident that their Horizon P105 Debbie Lou is the “retirement yacht of their dreams,” and they envision many more great years aboard with their family.

In the grand scheme of things, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is a Super Bowl-sized event in the boating community. And this year’s 65th edition was nothing short of extraordinary—five exhilarating days, more than 100,000 attendees, over 1,000 exhibitors from 52 countries, and a fleet upwards of 1,300 boats on display.
From October 30 to November 3, Team Horizon Yacht USA was at the forefront of this extravaganza, the largest in-water boat show in the world, with an impressive lineup featuring the debut of the FD100 Tri-Deck, a new FD80, and FD75 and E90 models. Guests were invited aboard to experience firsthand the customized features and exceptional craftsmanship that define Horizon’s masterpieces. Up close, it was easy for many attendees to envision their yachting adventures, with particular excitement around the larger FD100 Tri-Deck and news of the soon-to-arrive FD110 Tri-Deck.
A standout moment during the event was the VIP Cocktail Reception, where Horizon owners, their guests, and members of the media mingled in a lively atmosphere. With hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a strong sense of community, the evening transformed into a celebration of shared passions and connections for all things yachting.
Throughout the show, the Horizon Yacht USA team was delighted to facilitate new ownership opportunities for several showcased vessels while also laying the groundwork for future builds. They engaged with both prospective buyers and loyal Horizon owners, with each conversation an opportunity to turn aspirations into reality.
For the Horizon Yacht USA team, boat shows are more than just exhibitions—they are bustling gatherings that foster connections and inspire creativity. Engaging with fellow yacht enthusiasts ignites fresh ideas and fuels excitement for future innovations in the Horizon line.
Until next year, we look forward to reuniting at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, taking place from October 29 to November 2, 2025.

“It’s like nothing we’ve seen before.” The 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) turned out to be extraordinary, with the sale of the PC60 and PC68 inventory boats on display and contracts signed for two new PC60 builds.
“We’ve been exhibiting at boat shows for the last 15 years,” says Horizon Powercat Founder and CEO Richard Ford. “Oftentimes someone who has expressed interest might sign a deal at the show, or a lead at the show signs weeks or months afterwards. But this time it was different. Here, first-time customers walked in off the dock and signed a contract the next day. Informed as they are, customers recognize and appreciate the quality workmanship and superior equipment found on a Horizon Power Catamaran.”
Since Horizon Power Catamarans’ inception in 2009, the PC60 has consistently been its most popular model, with recent orders bringing the hull count up to 35. A design engineered by seasoned yachtsmen, the four-stateroom layout perfectly suits the needs of Caribbean cruisers. Every aspect, down to dedicated storage for cleaning supplies, has been thoughtfully considered, positioning this mid-sized cruiser as a leader in the powercat market.
More than just experienced craftsmanship, owners can also take comfort in the array of customizable layouts available in the PC60—and indeed in all Horizon Powercat models. The PC60 is offered with either an on-deck master cabin or an open salon, which sees a large lounge, galley, and raised salon area on the main deck with the staterooms in the hulls. The flybridge can be enclosed or semi-enclosed and fitted with a dayhead as desired. All new-build PC60s will be configured with an on-deck master layout. With its meticulous design and versatility, the PC60 continues to set the standard for luxury and performance in the powercat segment.
Introduced as a new model in the powercat lineup in 2022, the PC68 made its FLIBS debut at this year’s show with Hull Number 3 showcased as a spec build. It quickly found a new home with first-time powercat owners who plan to cruise around Florida and The Bahamas.
Measuring a generous 68ft x 24ft 6in, the PC68 is all about freedom of movement and comfort. Its four-stateroom layout and expansive flybridge deck create a welcoming vibe that rivals even the larger 80ft+ monohulls. Flexible configurations allow owners to customize the yacht to suit their specific preferences, making for one-of-a-kind cruising experiences.
A feature of note is the Portuguese Deck just forward of the flybridge helm, which takes outdoor living up a level with flexible alfresco configurations for dining and sunbathing. An enclosed or semi-enclosed flybridge area features space for dining and relaxation with a large dayhead and a spacious boat deck aft for tender and toy storage or entertainment.
In yet another nod to an inherent understanding of owners’ lifestyles and preferences, Horizon Power Catamarans implemented an efficient power management package as a standard feature. Each of the yachts sold at the show come equipped with Horizon’s “Silent Living” package as well as MAN 850hp engines. This smart setup pairs a phosphate battery package with a Termodinamica variable speed air conditioning system, enabling minimal generator usage and maximum efficiency. Coupled with the phosphate battery package from Victron, the Termodinamica variable speed, freon-cooled air conditioning system keeps the interior cool, dry, and quiet for nearly 20 hours on battery power alone.
“One thing is for certain, power catamarans, with their shallow draft, interior volume, and cruising comfort, are attracting monohull owners in record numbers. We simply offer more real estate on the water!”
Watch this space. Horizon Power Catamarans plans to debut an exciting new design at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March 2025.
The 2024 Taiwan International Boat Show concluded on a high note on December 1st, marking a historic milestone with an unprecedented number of yachts showcased.
With 77 boats from 12 countries on display, the exhibition was held for the first time ever in an all-outdoor format across four major dock areas along the Kaohsiung Harbor waterfront—namely, Argo Marina, Basin No. 3, Horizon City Marina, and KhaShing Pier 22 Marina. The diverse range of exhibits, including marina management systems, spare parts, and a variety of design-related tools and services, brought an exciting flair to the event. This impressive lineup underscored Taiwan’s strength and innovation as a premier hub for luxury yacht manufacturing.
Over the four-day event, more than 351 international buyers from 42 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and Brazil, attended, along with nearly 14,000 industry professionals. Adding to the eclectic atmosphere was the presence of key executives from prominent organizations, such as the Italian Yacht Association, Singapore’s ONE°15 Marina Club, the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association, Japan’s JSP, and the Philippines’ ALS Marine Center.
Visitors gained insights into Taiwan’s recent advancements in yacht building, reinforcing the sector’s influence in the global market. The exhibition also serves as a platform for Taiwanese manufacturers to tap into international markets, discover new business prospects, and build their global reputation while fostering partnerships and collaboration.
For the occasion, Horizon presented the CC Series yacht, developed together with acclaimed Canadian yacht designer Gregory C. Marshall. Well-suited for both leisurely cruises and expedition voyages, this 105-foot Tri-Deck with a 26-foot beam is powered by two CAT C18A 600hp engines sporting excellent range and fuel efficiency. She boasts a spacious layout, featuring a full-beam ensuite master stateroom on the main deck as well as a private passage to the foredeck. Comfortably accommodating ten guests, the main salon and dining area are made for memorable entertaining, with a variety of seating areas and a wet bar. This is complemented by an enclosed skylounge with its own wet bar and L-shaped sofa, while the open flybridge offers alfresco dining, BBQ facilities, and a Jacuzzi for taking in the surroundings.
The exhibition was a lively hub of activity, highlighting an array of events that brought together key industry players. From the grand opening ceremony to the exclusive networking dinner, yacht test rides, sunset parties, shipyard visits, and buyer negotiations, every moment was an opportunity for connection and collaboration. Behind-the-scenes tours of Taiwan's leading shipyards, including at Horizon Yachts, were also on offer, giving international media representatives from esteemed publications like IBI, Powerboat, and Yacht Style, as well as distinguished foreign guests, a firsthand look at the country’s exceptional yacht manufacturing capabilities. These interactions shine a spotlight on the industry’s mastery of craftsmanship and technology while also bolstering global confidence and recognition of its achievements.
Horizon Yachts made a prominent appearance at boot Düsseldorf 2025, the world’s largest yacht and watersports show held from January 18–26, and revealed the much-anticipated details of its first FD100 Tri-Deck built to RINA classification standards for the European market.
Generating significant excitement in anticipation of its 2025 launch, visitors and industry professionals alike were drawn to the Horizon stand to learn more about the FD100 Hull 12, the latest addition to the popular Fast Displacement (FD) Series created in collaboration with renowned Dutch designer Cor D. Rover.
Horizon Yacht Europe’s director, Ron Boogaard, was delighted to discuss customization opportunities and broader FD series concepts with interested clients. “The popularity of high-volume yacht builds speaks for itself,” he noted. “No surprise that with
over 65 FD Series yachts spanning eight models completed or in development across Europe, America, Australia, and Asia since its launch in 2016, this is the fastest-growing yacht series globally.”
Celebrating its 38th year, Horizon Yachts is recognized as one of the Top 10 yacht builders worldwide and offers multiple models, with its popular E, V, and FD Series of motoryachts winning clients globally. The introduction of the FD100 Hull 12 brings a luxurious interior featuring five staterooms, including a full-beam, on-deck master stateroom; full-height windows in the main salon and dining area; an enclosed skylounge; as well as expansive deck areas for superb alfresco living. The yacht’s contemporary interior is characterized by oak woodwork with a satin finish and given weight by black metallic detailing and clean lines.
Having showcased a 3D rendering of the FD100 at the exhibition for a more comprehensive visual experience, continued discussions about customizations suited to the lifestyles of European buyers are in progress.
