FAQ
B
The challenges of competing at a high level for a Division I athletic program continue to grow. Cost of attendance is the new norm across the country, upgrades to athletic facilities continue to push the bar higher, and tuition continues to increase and be the department’s largest budget expense. We strive to provide our student-athletes with a premium intercollegiate athletic experience, but your support is needed today more than ever.
Thank You and Stingers Up!

CLUB
With your financial support, our student-athletes have the opportunity to compete at the highest levels on the field of competition and in the classroom. The Hornet Club is the fundraising arm of the Athletics Department, and with your help, we want to grow our resources to help mold our student-athletes into being EVERY DAY CHAMPIONS.
mission statement The Hornet Club mission is to aid in the recruitment, retention, and development of nearly 500 student-athletes who compete in 21 varsity sports at Sacramento State. Our goal is to provide private financial support for athletic scholarships, facilities, student-athlete programing, team operations and other program needs for Sacramento State Athletics. Your support provides our student-athletes with the resources necessary for them to succeed on the field of play, in the classroom and out in the community. With your support and all of us working together, our success will continue for many years to come.
the hornet club
history Evolving from the Stingers, the tradition and mission of fundraising and raising dollars to support Sacramento State student-athletes can be dated back to the 1970’s. As the Hornet Athletics Department grows, the Hornet Club grows as well. In the past five years, we have nearly tripled our overall membership and are now at an historical high approaching 1,000 Hornet Club Members, but we cannot stop there. Help the Hornet Club and Hornet student-athletes reach new heights in 2017-18 by continuing or upping your support, STINGERS UP!

hornet club annual fund The Hornet Club was founded on the goal and mission to provide private financial support for the Sacramento State Athletics Department. Though the Hornet Club has grown to incorporate other giving opportunities, the foundation still lies in the unrestricted giving to the Hornet Club Annual Fund. The Annual fund’s sole purpose is to create a premium student-athlete experience for all Hornets, by helping fund some of the Athletic Department’s biggest expenses in scholarships, facility upgrades and enhancements, department branding, and student-athlete programming. In 2016-17, the Hornet Club Annual Fund had over 250 donors contribute over $180,000 in unrestricted support of our student-athletes.
WE STILL NEED YOU! Your unrestricted support is more crucial than ever, with the rise in tuition and cost of attendance, a single in-state scholarship for the 2017-18 year will run over $19,000. As we continue to upgrade our facilities, the unrestricted dollars from Hornet Club Members will continue to impact our student-athletes on a daily basis. We encourage all of our Hornet Club Members to make unrestricted giving a priority.

team support A gift directly to an individual program provides that team and its coaches additional resources to compete and recruit on a national level and purchase top of the line equipment. By supporting one or more of our teams, you not only make a difference for that program, but you have a direct impact on the overall success of Hornet Athletics and our student-athletes. Individual team support has allowed our studentathletes to receive a premium international experience via foreign trips. Two years ago, the men’s soccer team took the first foreign trip to Costa Rica. Last summer, the men’s basketball team played oversees in Taiwan, and now this summer the volleyball program competed in China.

power of 1,000 hornets Sacramento State is the hub for many community activities, yet we lack an indoor seating arena to properly accommodate our Hornet Athletics teams as well as other important large-attendance gatherings for our University. The proposed arena will be a modern, multi-use facility that will enhance the fan experience for various athletics events and provide many of our studentathletes with the top-notch home venue they deserve. It will also increase programing and service for activities such as commencement, education sessions, performing arts shows, and speaker presentations.
