Many riding glove styles cr oss over into the ‘work’ category, so don’t ignore this important sector too. • Riders always like to try on gloves. Of fer a sales aid rein so they can test the fit and grip. • Women’s sizes usually range from 6 to 8 including half sizes. But be sur e to stock the larger sizes for men too. Their size range tends to be 8 to 11 with some manufacturers going to a 13. • When it comes to children’s gloves, they need warmth, comfort and grip on the reins – just like adults. The childr en’s showing market, in particular, demands good quality and fit. Offer some fun, bright colors too, however, for the best of both worlds. • Technical, synthetic fabrics have br ought many benefits to gloves. Get product information from your suppliers so you can explain their attributes such as durability , longevity, colorfastness and washability to your customers. Some examples ar e: Synthetic Aquasuede (soft, colorfast, sweat absorbing, breathable and washable), Lycra (used for glove backs for a close fit and omni-dir ectional support with ventilation), Neopr ene (soft, flexible, tough and r etains body heat), Spandex (elastic, lightweight, flexible and durable) and Aquatack (breathable palm with precise grip). • Leather gloves remain popular. Deerskin is durable, breathable and hard wearing; Kid Leather (goatskin) is high in lanolin ther efore soft and har d wearing; Cowhide offers texture and is fir m yet easy to ‘br eak-in’; S and Pigskin are durable, supple and breathable. • Linings come in man-made and traditional fabrics too. It has been pr oven, from independent testing, that goat skin is nature’s softest leather after deerskin. It is also the softest leather due to the presence of lanolin. Sheep Skin Leather: Incredibly comfortable sheepskin gloves pr ovide an excellent feel of the r eins. Several of many advantages include comfort, durability, chafe resistance, and breathability. Insulators Silk: Silk fibers are the lightest of all natural fibers. Silk is both lightweight and incredibly warm.
