THE VERSATILE SHOE FOR LEISURE AND SPORT

THE VERSATILE SHOE FOR LEISURE AND SPORT

The Mustad LiBero is a 3/4 fullered all-round horseshoe based on feedback received on our very successful LB range. We like to think of it as an upgrade on our base range making it suitable for most leisure and sport purposes with a wide variety of sizes and sections.

Shoeing more safely and easily with LiBero The new LiBero shoe has been designed thanks to the collaboration of an extended farriers team, formed by eminent specialists from France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland. The main objective of our team of experts has been to respect as much as possible the natural shape of the hoof, providing the best support and protection for the horse, while making farriers life easier when shoeing. Our new LiBero shoe allows the farrier maximum flexibility in choice of modification or application.

Unique features for the better of the horse Featuring the Mustad ABCŠ technology (Anatomical Branch Concept), LiBero is more comfortable for the horse as it follows the anatomical foot shape. Both front and hind shoes have a definite left and right shape and are all fitted with flush clips. The heels of all front shoes are sloped while the hind shoes are left with upright heels. The design of the new LiBero features a sole relief on the hoof surface, in order to prevent any bruising of the sole in the toe area. All edges of the shoe are broken or boxed to prevent losing the shoe a horse overreaches and other possibilities of self injury that the shoe may cause.

Even if some models give a somewhat symmetrical feel, the LiBero range features, as traditionally with Mustad, left and right models. The outside branch of LiBero is clearly marked in the fuller as shown in the picture and is always slightly longer, with the nail holes punched a fraction coarser for optimum fitting and nailing on. The bents of the inside and outside branches follow the physiological shape of most European breeds.

Steel quality Special attention has gone into sourcing our steel. This choice of steel grade gives you the right balance between shape-ability on the anvil and durability underneath the hoof. With very low content of Carbon and Manganese, we are able to retain our shape-ability even after cooling down in water.

Sole relief A moderate form of sole relief now starts 1mm after the white line. This ensures that no part of the sole will be weight bearing without increasing the risk of a stone lodging between the shoe and the sole. Concave

Unique Nail Hole & Fuller Design We have learned from experience that as much as 50% of the shoe can be worn away during one shoeing cycle. The consequence of this is that the top half of the nail hole should not be relied upon for shoe retention. We have therefore redesigned the crease and the nail hole in order to guarantee that the nail will always fully seat at the bottom half of the nail hole in combination with Mustad nails.

Ideal matching for easier nailing The V-fuller fits seamlessly with most European style standard and long neck nails. Nevertheless we strongly recommend to use it with our Concave or EXL nails, for which the shoe has been specifically machine-punched. The crease run-out has been kept as short as possible in order to leave ample freedom for stud placement in the heels.

The Front Side Clip shoe does not have the same shape or nail hole position as the toe clip model. It has a European style with a flat toe bringing the point of break over further under the hoof. This has been done without loosing the much needed support to the hoof wall in the toe area. Fitted correctly, this shoe will provide sufficient support in combination with an optimal break over point in the toe. To complete the fit of the shoe the branches are slightly shortened. The first nail holes have been moved back and consequently placed correctly above the white line when setting back the shoe. Clip position has been defined in order to open up a wide array of therapeutic modification from this shoe.

Denis Leveiilard

The Hind Side Clip shoe has retained a stronger left and right feel to it in order to prevent the horse from stepping onto his own shoes, so often the case in hind feet. The branches have been formed to follow the perimeter of the hoof and have been left wide enough in the heels in order to provide proper support for the hoof mechanism. The overall shape meets the modern demand of most European Farriers and can easily be adapted to any hoof.

The Front Toe Clip shoe has been updated to the latest trends in the horseshoe industry. The new model has a subtle flatness in the toe area that flows over into branches which have been left slightly longer. This has been done without loosing the distinctive roundness of a typical European front shoe. The inside branch has been tucked in underneath the hoof by less than 1 mm in order to retain a somewhat symmetrical feel when shaping the shoe on the anvil.

The Hind Toe Clip shoe does not have the same shape and nail hole placing as the side clip shoe. It takes inspiration from traditional hind shoes. It offers full support to the hoof wall and optimum traction in the toe. Nail holes are spaced slightly more towards the toe area giving the opportunity to nail correctly in the white line. This shoe offers interesting options to a variety of horses and different sports.
