Culinary Arts Certificate Program

The Culinary Arts Certificate Program is an introductory course designed to give students the skills and practical working knowledge to enter the Food Service Industry. Course content is comprised of 18 hours of classroom instruction in Food Protection, along with 88 hours of hands-on training. Included in the course is 1 hour remedial math.

This course focuses on the tiers of food preparation including:

• Fundamental cooking & baking techniques

• Seasonal produce provided by local community garden

• Knife skills & butchering of meat, poultry & seafood

• Knowledge of food production & recipe creation

• International cuisine education

Upon completion, students will earn up to 1 to 3 college credits that can be applied toward an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts/Food Studies Attendance at one orientation is mandatory.

Students will build on the fundamental skills covered in Culinary Arts I and expand on international cuisine concepts.
