Food Protection Certificate Program (English and Español)

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Certificate

This 30-hour training and certification course prepares individuals for a career in the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) field as Pest Control Operators. This is a NY State Department of Environmental Conservation required course to become certified for the 7A Structural and Rodent Pest Control License. The IPM field offers flexible hours with full-time and part-time employment opportunities that can eventually lead to self-employment.

Food Protection Certificate Program

This course satisfies the Health Code requiring that supervisors of food service establishments and non-retail food service establishments be certified in food protection. Our program provides information on Food Protection and Safety and prepares students to take the New York City Department of Health’s Food Protection Certificate test.

Also included is 3 hours remedial English vocabulary and math skills. Testing will be held at the City of New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. $24 cash non-refundable State Exam fee.

Programa Certificación de Protección de Alimentos

Este curso cumple con el Código de Salud que requiere que los supervisores de los establecimientos de servicio de alimentos y establecimientos de servicios de alimentos públicos estén certificados en la protección de alimentos.

Nuestro programa provee información sobre Protección de Alimentos y Seguridad y prepara a los estudiantes para tomar el Certificado de Protección de Alimentos del Departamento de Salud de la ciudad de Nueva York. Las pruebas seran impartidas en el City of New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, con un costo adicional de $24.

Students will learn safe, evidence-based environmentally-sensitive approaches to pest management that create healthier environments, especially for young children diagnosed with chronic asthma. In addition to learning the proper techniques of treatment methods, the course prepares you for IPM field work, reading labels, equipment operation and the proper handling, mixing and disposal of products. This course is further enhanced by dedicating 2 hours of class time to improving study skills to ensure overall success in the classroom and in the field.

Prerequisites:

1. High school diploma, GED or HSE Diploma desired but not required.

2. Current or past felony convictions does not disqualify you from this program. To obtain certification, you will need to obtain felony(ies) disposition letter(s), reference letter and a written letter outlining the details of the felony(ies) which is sent to New York State.

3. Valid photo identification (State ID, Passport, etc.)

4. Proof of authorization to work in United States
