DD CUSTOM’S OVER-THE-TOP LOWRIDER ROAD KING
The difference between being subtle and over the top can be measured in inches and not miles. For some, the lessis-more route is often taken when building a bike, where a discerning eye is needed to notice all the small intricacies of a thousand subtle touches that make the whole of the look. For others, it’s the in your face, loud and proud, success in excess that runs supreme.
There’s no doubt the lowrider look is starting to gain a more mainstream acceptance across the custom crowd. With more and more builders taking on these types of builds and adding their own spin, it wasn’t going to be long before someone held the throttle wide open. Enter this 2007 Road King build by DD Custom Cycle.

This has to be one of the wildest lowrider-inspired bikes to be put in the pages of Hot Bike. Typically made for spotto-spot cruising, most lowrider bikes tend to focus on the style first and performance second. Not so here with a big old ProCharger huffer pushing out cool air on the 96-inch motor. Like a blown LS rolling on 5.20s, there’s no slow and low going on with this setup. But when excess runs first, why stop there with both the blower and the heads getting a little bit of style added with engraving and diamond cut for that extra metal sparkle?

At first glance, the Ride Wright Fat 50 26-inch front wheel doesn’t have that scream-at-me big-wheel appearance. This is partially due to the custom DD front air setup and the 38-degree Misfit Short Neck that only added 2 inches of stretch. The combination kept both the wheel sitting high and tight like a boot-camp haircut.
The most obvious thing that was done has to be the engraving by Hernan of Engrave It Inc. Let’s make a list of all the things that were not engraved: the exhaust tips. End of list. Ha! Seriously, when we say tip to tail, this bike truly wears the metal sculpting on anything that could be removed and shipped across the country. This did pose one bit of a challenge according to builder Dave Dupor. When asked
Revolution Performance Bolt-On Big Bore Kits are custom made, all aluminum cylinders with nickel silicon carbide plating for less friction, better oil retention, incredible reliability, and more horsepower.

This dyno proven kit comes complete with custom made forged aluminum Wiseco pistons with ArmorGlide® skirt coating, enhanced 2016 ring technology, tool steel wrist pins, clips and complete gasket set. This powerful combination is simply the most reliable way you can add big power to your American V-Twin!
Distributed by: what was the most difficult part of the build, he said: “The bike was shipped to me in a crate with hundreds of loose and engraved parts. It was all disassembled, and putting it all back together was just a nightmare. But the finished product is amazing.”
With the spectrum of customs running as wide as it is varied, this Road King motors far to the right. Whether it’s running down the highway at full speed or posted up at the local show, there’s little chance of blending in with the crowd. HB
