COLOMBIA
The Republic of Colombia is located in northeastern South America, and it’s the continent´s third most populous country. It borders Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Panama by land, and has coasts on the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Crossed by the Andes, Colombia is the world´s second most mega-diverse country due to its distinctive regions, with over 45,000 plant and animal species thriving in its territory. Home to jungles, fertile plains, islands and valleys, Colombia boasts several climate zones that range from the cold of perpetual snows to the year round warmth of the Caribbean Sea. When planning a trip for your clients, bear in mind that Colombian weather varies not only due to the yearly seasons: it also depends on the destination´s altitude. Colombians are proud of their eclectic culture and long history, which dates back to pre-Columbian times. The country´s ethnic melting pot combines indigenous cultures with European, Asiatic, African and Middle Eastern immigration, resulting in a fantastic mix of music, colors and tastes that vary from region to region and will enchant visitors from all over the world. Famous for its beaches, coffee, gemstones and warmth of its people, Colombia welcomes visitors from all countries alike. Keep in mind that the citizens from some countries may need an Entry Visa, and inbound/outbound taxes may apply. Over 1.5 million tourists visit Colombia yearly, and though no vaccinations are mandatory, the local government recommends yellow fever vaccination when travelling to destinations lower than 7 thousand feet below sea level.
From the Amazon forest to the Oriental Plains, from the picture perfect beaches to its modern cities, invite your customers to an unforgettable trip to Colombia!
CARTAGENA
Cartagena de Indias is the capital city of the Department of Bolivar, located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea in northern Colombia, and is one of Colombia´s most important cultural, historical and touristic destinations. Though settlements in the area can be traced back to 4000 BC, the modern city was founded in the first half of the 16th century, and was one of the main ports of the Americas in the colonial era. Its perfect preservation, extensive fortifications and key historical role have helped Cartagena become a UNESCO World Heritage site. The walled city attracts tourists from all over the world with its well preserved colonial architecture mixed with high rise new neighborhoods as Boca Grande; its Caribbean music, tropical flavors and perfect year round climate. Removed from the hurricane alley and with an average temperature of 84°F, it is the ideal destination for tourists who wish to enjoy paradisiac beaches and nearby islands, such as Playa Blanca or Rosario Islands. Melting pot of ethnicities, Cartagena´s culture captivates visitors with unmatched gastronomy, music, warmth and colorful streets, product of centuries of cultural interchange between native inhabitants, Europeans, Africans and Middle Eastern migrants. Home to many cultural centers, museums, international festivals, Cartagena will charm history fans and bon-vivants alike. Visiting Cartagena is easy, given it is well connected by air – through its Rafael Núñez International Airport -, by sea through its famous port where international cruises dock, and by land. Getting around in the city is also relatively easy, for it has several public transportation options. Tourists can visit nearby beaches at Baru Peninsula or Rosario Islands by just hopping on one of the several boat shuttles that depart from the Pegasos Dock in Getsemani (right outside the walled city) and spend a glorious time at Colombia´s pristine Caribbean Sea.
Invite your customers to enjoy an unforgettable destination that offers history, culture, delicious flavors and paradisiac beaches that will please all visitors alike. Invite your clients to Cartagena!
