MINISTER OF TOURISM ANNUNCES IMPORTANT INVESTMENTS FOR PUERTO PLATA

The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado highlighted that this country has become one of the most important touristic and film productions destinations in the region due to the great effort that the government of Luis Abinader has been doing to manage de Covid crisis and guarantied the security of all visitors. Collado valued the presence of the famous actor and producer Vin Diesel, who is not only a great friend of the Dominican Republic, but also one that is willing to contribute to job creation and help the development of the cinematographic industries in this country. The Minister of Tourism speak in the event in which President Abinader and Vin Diesel "Fast and Furious", sign the agreement for the construction of the biggest film studios in the country, in Bergatin, Puerto Plata, a lot of more than 8 million square meters that will host not only the studio but also a center of technological innovation in this area. The government plan for Puerto Plata includes the

complete restoration of historical buildings in Puerto Plata, the renovation and extension of the cable car to Isabel de Torres mountain, one of the city main attractions. The project also includes the construction of the Amber Highway that will shorten the time between Puerto Plata and Santiago and Santo Domingo, putting the Santiago airport at less than 30 minutes of the north coast. The destinations of Cabarete, Sosúa and Luperón will have important investments in infrastructure projects to make them more attractive to visitors and investors. All part of the new masterplan to enhance the development of the region and increase the potential of the country as the main touristic destination of the Caribbean. Collado express the full commitment of his team, the tourism cabinet led by the president Luis Abinader, and all the government of the Dominican Republic to put the tourism sector fully operational in the country, as soon as possible.

“Fast and Famous” Peninsula Esmeralda supports the new government in its efforts to revitalize and strengthen the luxury tourism industry in Puerto Plata, all the while ensuring the natural beauties that this unique place has to offer are treated with respect.

T h e Pre s id e nt, L u i s A bina d e r, ha s s ig n e d a memorandum of understanding with American film ac tor Vin Diesel ("Fast and Furious"), to initiate an ambitious projec t that will include state-of-the-ar t f ilm studios and modern technology on Bergantín beach in Puerto Plata, on the North coast of the Dominican Republic. The location of the Peninsula Esmeralda in terms of cinema has served as the setting for series such as, “Klinik unter Palmen”, an incredibly well-known TV series in Europe, and has enticed several famous filmmakers and celebrities.

Niki Lauda, a famous Formula 1 World Champion, came to the Dominican Republic and ended up buying several apartments right next to the Peninsula, a testament to its beauty. Niki Lauda was also the owner of Lauda Air, which operated regular leisure and charter flights from Europe to the Caribbean, directly to Puerto Plata. Additionally, his friend Falco, one of the most iconic European rock singers, lived in a Villa only a stone’s throw away from the Peninsula. With his iconic song “Rock Me Amadeus”, along with the accompanying music video, he soared to the top of international charts, and it can be said that Falco definitely became inspired to write some of his songs by enjoying the beauty of the Peninsula.

Península Esmeralda congratulates President Luis Abinader and Vin Diesel for their ambitious project, as we know it will be a great success. Therefore, we hope that very FAST Puerto Plata will become the favorite place of the FAMOUS of cinema and entertainment.

Reactivating! The world is still in the process of vaccination, little by little those affected are decreasing, in the Dominican Republic the government chaired by Luis Abinader, works from sunrise to sunset to eradicate the covid-19 virus, at the same time it is strengthening the country's tourist destinations. The goverment also announced the creation of the Nautical Tourism Directorate, which has the task of presenting an action plan for the provinces of Puerto Plata and Samaná. He revealed other projects like; The Colón Route, a historical corridor that includes the provinces of Santiago, Puerto Plata and Valverde. "It will be a corridor similar to the one in Spain, known as the Santiago Corridor. Abinader pointed out that the plan includes developing a tourist corridor in the north coast of the country, real estate projects, theme and ecological parks, diving, submarines and a 250-kilometer coastal sea route, between Punta Rucia and Río San Juan, investments in new tourist projects in the municipalities of Puerto Plata, Sosúa, Cabarete, Maimón, Luperón and Imbert. Puerto Plata, is on the way to a reactivation of tourism that contemplates recovering its position as a leading destination in the Caribbean, in arrivals of tourists to the Dominican Republic through its airports and cruise ports.

Sosúa

Sosúa, located in the north coast, between the city of Puerto Plata and the village of Cabarete, was founded by order of the dominican dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, in 1938 to host 1000 Jewish refugees as an offer in the Evian Conference. The Jewish community has made an important contribution to the economic growth of Sosua, they introduced the dairy and meat industry, which is still an important economic engine in the area.

It is one of the most emblematic beaches in the region. It is a true gift of nature, as it is conducive to enjoying a pleasant environment but also a true paradise for lovers of marine sports. Samaná (Santa Bárbara de Samaná) in the Dominican Republic. The most emblematic element of the city of Santiago is the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration of the Republic, which towers over the city. Puerta Plata is undoubtedly one of the most impressive tourist poles for visitors, its natural attractions make it continue to be the preferred destination for foreign tourists over time. But I want to pause here, and ask you a question? How has it contributed to the development of Puerto Plata?

Puerto Plata has been able to give us great fruits over time, but what about us? What have we given to her? COLONIAL ZONE The Colonial City (also called Colonial Zone) is the oldest urban nucleus of the city of Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. The Colonial City was the first permanent european settlement in America, founded in 1502 by Spanish colonizers. This area of Santo Domingo has colonial buildings and streets with old cobblestones of great tourist attraction,

such as the Alcázar de Colón (which belonged to Diego Colón, son of Cristóbal Colón), the Museo de las Casas Reales, the First Cathedral of America and the Ozama Fortress. With national hotels (such as the Hotel Conde de Peñalba) and international hotels (such as the Sofitel Nicolás de Ovando in Nicolás de Ovando's house). Most of the hotels are on El Conde street and Las Damas street.

LA ROMANA La Romana is a city in the Dominican Republic, on the Caribbean coast, and is a gateway to nearby tourist areas. On the Chavón River, is the recreated 16th century Mediterranean village Altos de Chavón, which has artists' workshops. In the center of the city, there is an obelisk painted with colorful images of local life. South of the city is Catalina Island, with beaches, coral reefs and the wreck of pirate William Kidd's ship.
