eveloped by Aristotle Onassis and completed by Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill architects in 1976, The Olympic Tower is a significant example of the Modernist aesthetic in New York City. Here you will find this stunning home. The apartment provides Northern and Western exposures, allowing spectacular views of Central Park, Radio City Music Hall, The Hudson River, and many of New York’s iconic buildings through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Murray Moss – the American design entrepreneur and founder of the design and art gallery, Moss, in SoHo and the consultancy Moss Bureau – was behind the stunning interiors of this apartment, which he happily calls home. The bright, newly renovated space boasts two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, all of which Moss curated into a contemporary masterpiece. Inspiration stemmed from the obvious defining elements of the Tower, the nine-foot floor-to-ceiling windows, of which there are 16, which wrap the entire corner residence like a movie screen projecting

what are arguably the most unrivalled views of New York City. A collector of photography, Moss likens the buildings that paper the window-walls to museum quality monumental photographs by such masters as Thomas Struth. The focal point of this home is the 1960 Universal shelving system, designed by Professor Dieter Rams, long-time design Director of Braun, Germany, and part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. With advice from his friend Dr. Rams, Moss brings the rooms together with consistent use of both this system, as well as the repeated usage of lighting by the German master Ingo Maurer. “There is a holistic approach achieved, making the experience of entering and exiting rooms a cumulative pleasure,” says Moss. Further, enjoying the famous outdoor Relief sculptures that are world-

acclaimed at Rockefeller Center, Moss felt it was an opportunity to introduce the long-forgotten use of Relief in the Tower space. Commissioning a wrap-around wall sculpture - a white, textured series of panels, which add light and shadow to the foyer and living room, the space pays homage to its locale. Vistas of limestone, bronze, copper and terracotta make up the colour palette, complementing the extravagant surroundings. Couches in the living room are Diesis, designed by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia, 1979, while the black swivel

The Monumental white ceramic vase by noted Dutch artist Hella Jongerius hails from Moss Gallery, while vintage country French worktables are placed as side tables in the bedroom. Time is spent unwinding on the renowned P40 Lounge by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, Italy, which beckons in all its glory and splendour. Fully articulated, the lounge is based on an Alitalia First Class seat of the era - a great conversation starter.

the development of our students, academically, socially, and emotionally. That includes of course robust extracurricular opportunities. For instance, we recently participated in a national Jiu-Jitsu competition for students across the UAE, organised by Aldar Academies. We’ve also participated in the Aldar Academieswide “We’ve Got Talent” performances to allow students to explore their artistic skills and interests, whether music, dance, visual art, or beyond. Al Bateen continues to proactively engage students in this way, augmenting their academics and ultimately leading to a fuller life.
What facilities does the school have to offer ? State-of-the-art facilities are available
to meet the needs of our learners. The school houses an 850-seat auditorium, expansive music, drama and art facilities, and specialist teaching rooms, fully equipped with interactive white boards.
