Textures and warm neutral tones mix with natural materials to create a space that’s as serene as it is stylish. A custom king bed with a plinth-base frame and built-in leather paneled headboard adds architectural interest. A pair of freestanding nightstands correspond with the bed frame, headboard surround, and oak soffit. In the bathroom, floating vanity cabinets are suspended in quartz waterfallend consoles; grid-like oak cabinets are stained ebony to contrast with white stone surrounds. Custom mirrors add visual interest.

Designing this pantry, located underneath the existing staircase, presented many challenges, but the result is a dreamy space that’s perfectly tucked away. In the corner, the height of the window made it difficult to continue the base cabinets and countertops, so they were pulled away from the window and designed to be “floating,” allowing light to pass beneath them. A Parisian aesthetic inspired the soft blue cabinetry, fluted nickel hardware, brass faucet, and handmade mirror backsplash.

This 1920s house was in poor shape and required a complete renovation. Walls were taken down to the studs, damaged trim and built-ins were replaced, and a new fireplace featuring custom tiles from a local artist was built. Metalwork details were refined to ensure the final product would be perfect; a local metalsmith developed a design that fits the renovated space. Custom gates were the finishing touch on a renovation showcasing the work of local craftspeople.

Opening up the existing mudroom and laundry room into a large L-shaped space alleviated a tight walkway, and moving the washer and dryer to the back of the room made it much more inviting and user-friendly. The rooms flow together with a galley-style entry that incorporates lockers and a desk, message center, and built-in crates for the family’s dogs. The rear section has a large desk where the mom can plan, craft, and wrap.

Here’s a fully functioning entertainment venue with a wow factor that surprises guests. Raised lounge/stage areas, moveable furniture, well-planned service areas, and rolling tables are key elements. A handsome collection of masculine materials were chosen to create this elevated gentleman’s bar. Dark crocodile leather, walnut, darkened steel, and Greystone marble-like porcelain work together to create depth, intrigue, character, and mood. Accent lighting via concealed LED light channels in the cabinetry and porcelain shelves further enhance the deep mood of the space. The dark, polished porcelain strongly emulates the look of Greystone marble, while maintaining the durability required for entertaining. Cheers!

For a newborn, the parents insisted on avoiding the routine tropes of cute and dainty, preferring bold measures and bright colors to inspire. The custom-scaled wallpaper was made to measure. Floral designs climb riotously up the wall and onto the ceiling. Hand-blown Murano glass sconces provide gentle nighttime lighting, and extend from the wall like an outgrowth from the paper pattern. Whimsy can be strong, bright, and bold, and inspire youthful wonder and delight.

When choosing a monochromatic scheme for a small space, balance is imperative. This powder room is the perfect balance of clean lines and bold patterns. The custom vanity console is punctuated with brass fixtures and a honed neromarble top. These elements alone could easily overtake a space, but when paired with a visually exciting wallcovering, something magical happens. The random and broken lines of the wallcovering create an unusually graphic interior.

The concept was to make the bathroom an indoor/outdoor room that would function as a full bathroom for guests but would also serve as a powder room that can be accessed from the outdoor patio. To bring greenery into the space, a deep, rich hunter green was used on the cabinets and wainscoting. The diamond layout in the pavers outside was carried through on the floor, using marble mosaics for a seamless, curbless roll-in shower.

The heart of this home is the large central island that acts as both a traditional kitchen island and an informal dining area. To meet the storage needs, an asymmetrical cabinetry design was created. Custom concrete countertops, integrated with the existing windows, became the perfect place for a custom bar cart. The concrete countertops and backsplash have a meticulously crafted inlaid black metal banding with gold rivets that mimics the design of the chandeliers.

An opening from the kitchen to the dining room strengthens the connection between the spaces and allows more circulation while entertaining. The island was extended to accommodate additional storage and casual seating. The homeowner wanted everything tucked away, including her built-in microwave, now hidden behind black, raised-panel cabinetry. With the increased storage in the double-sided island, she no longer needed wall cabinets. In the butler’s pantry, a walk-in pantry is hidden behind antique mirrored cabinet doors.

This is a classic dining room with modern, fresh elements. A tone-on-tone look pulls Mediterranean olive from the wallpaper for the trim and crown, as well as the velvet drapes. Finding the right shade of green for this Michigan State University-inspired home was a concern. The clients wanted soft gold details, and the green needed to complement that and achieve the look they wanted.
