While music and dance had to take a back seat at the lockdown wedding receptions, we learned the importance of great food and drink! Here are some of our best tips.

Embrace intimate meals
With the pandemic still looming in our minds, there are still some things to thiink about when it comes to those tasty treats. It’s probably best to avoid buffets and sharing platters for a while longer but a more traditional meal doesn’t mean you have to stick with classic food options. The past year has been stressful for everyone, so your wedding day is the perfect occasion to fully embrace comfort foods. Create a fun menu of all your favourites for you and your guests to enjoy.

Your theme is a great starting point for creating your menu. If you're local, a traditional Scottish meal could feel special but you could also look at cuisines from places that mean something to you - proposal country, perhaps?

Talk to your venue about their catering options. Hotels will have their own kitchens, while some castles and stately homes will have suppliers they work with often. But do remember that outside caterers and staff will be included in your attendee list.
With perhaps less mouths to feed, the chef may be more adventurous, so talk to them about what they can do. Premade individual food hampers for each guest would reduce sharing (and be so cute!) but remember to ask about any dietary requirements. Pre-wedding tastings may not always be possible but some caterers are sending out tasting boxes you can enjoy at home – definitely worth asking about! ♥
