There’s no need to travel to France to experience authentic French cuisine, not when New Caledonia is on the doorstep. Noumea, the capital, is replete with French delicacies - simply step away from your hotel and find an endless array of culinary sensations. From the Escoffier cooking school to roadside food trucks called ‘roulottes’, this is a gourmet city.

Focusing on all that is perfect, Ile des Pins is a 20 minute flight from Noumea and your one way ticket to an untouched paradise. This is where crystal clear lagoons meet platinum white sand and exotic palm trees stand aside towering pine trees. Rent a bike and explore this tiny island at leisure.

Niue is a fantastic destination for getting out and about, whether that’s on land or under the sea. With extensive walking tracks that weave in and around the island, you can easily explore the terrain on foot.

A picnic in the park or on the beach is only half the fun; stopping en route at Municipal Market in Port Moselle is a pleasure in itself. Purchase just baked baguettes and wedges of cheese, and if you’re feeling adventurous, la confiture de banane – vanilla infused banana jam, it’s an island speciality. Head out of the city centre and find restaurants along the beaches of Anse Vata or Baie des Citrons.

For a cultural fix, the Loyalty Islands boast three unique islands that cater for visitors: Ouvéa, Lifou and Maré Island. Offering village stays, fishing trips, sculptors, weavers and friendly Kanak locals, it’s believed the Loyalty Islands were named after its inhabitants, for their obvious friendliness. Make sure you take cash and enough snacks to keep you sustained, each island only has one ATM and a limited amount of food stores.

Caves, chasms, tunnels and sink holes also litter the landscape. Anapala chasm is found at the bottom of a formidable 155 steps, while Matapa chasm provides sheltered swimming and Palaha is famed for its limestone formations and small snorkelling pools. If you want to get under the water, Niue always impresses divers with its clarity and up to 80 metres of visibility. Get in and swim with dolphins and sea turtles or for something more sedate, golf courses and fishing excursions are readily available across the island.

Tonga’s Vava’u Island has everything you want from a tropical hideout; emerald lagoons, champagne sand and beautiful blue water. Enjoy the island’s shimmering coastline, and get in the sea for surfing, diving and swimming with whales. Gentle Humpbacks frequent the warm waters between June and November. It’s also known as a yachting playground, so sit back and admire the luxury vessels slicing their way through the waves.

Throw away the smart phones and step back in time – Norfolk Island is history come to life. As one of Captain Cook’s many discoveries, the island was first sighted on 29 February 1774. Named after the Duchess of Norfolk, Cook promptly claimed the land as British. From convict settlements and bounty mutineers to WWII airbases, Norfolk has played an important role over the centuries.

Albeit different, cultural traditions across all the Pacific Islands have a certain fluidity that connects them all. Notably, the islands have a strong connection to art, craft and celebration.

For total isolation, Tonga’s Ha’apai group of islands will be more your bag. With reefs, white beaches, one or two volcanoes and not much else, it’s impossible not to relax here. Climb onboard a kayak and start paddling, stopping along the way for a picnic lunch on a deserted island. This is what the word ‘perfection’ was coined for.

Discover more at the Norfolk Island Museum, with its rich collection of exhibitions, restored houses and fascinating artefacts. Or watch descendants of the mutineers bring the famed ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ story to life with an outdoor show performed in an amphitheatre.

In New Caledonia storytelling retains its importance for the exchange of myths and legend from one generation to the next, whereas in Niue, annual village festivals unite the community and provide the perfect excuse for dance, food, sport and art. Norfolk Island is renowned for its woodturning, which visitors are welcome to watch, and in Tonga, authentic culture abounds. From Sunday church to ceremonial kava drinking, little has changed here. The customs are resolutely traditional and modernity has yet to make much of an impact.

The capital, Noumea, occupies the southern tip of the main island, Grande Terre, with beautiful bays on both sides. It’s sophisticated yet casual and you won’t find anywhere else on earth quite so similar to the French Riviera. The atmosphere in this little city is pure Gallic, with boutiques, patisseries, cheese shops and restaurants lining quaint streets and squares. Explore the Latin Quarter and the old districts of the Vallee du Tir and Vallee des Colons – and you could be in France.

So, for the ideal New Caledonian experience… give yourself time to explore the chic town of Noumea, time to enjoy the resort life of Anse Vata and round it off with time all to yourself on a magical outer island. Noumea The Place des Cocotiers is a perfect place to begin an exploration of the Paris of the Pacific. While the ornate bandstand and cafés could be straight from France, towering flame trees and tropical produce at the market add an exotic South Seas touch. The temptations of boutiques offering fashion straight from Paris will keep shoppers engrossed but the beaches of Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata are also irresistible. Getting around is easy, especially if you have all of the hot spots covered on a city orientation tour. One of Noumea’s star attractions is the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, a masterpiece inspired by Kanak architecture. Evenings entice with a host of restaurants, bars and casinos. For a change of pace take a lagoon boat trip to the 140-year-old Amedee Lighthouse. The island’s underwater world waits beyond its beaches.

Our favourite things to see and do Tjibaou Cultural Centre – Discover the unique architecture of the Tjibaou Centre. These bold, modern yet elegant buildings have been designed from the inspiration of traditional Kanak architecture. View fantastic art and artefacts from all over the South Pacific. Amedee Lighthouse – Take an excursion further afield to the Amedee Lighthouse located within a natural marine reserve and home to a large variety of coloured tropical fish. This trip is a must-do for those who like snorkelling. Your excursion includes return catamaran transfers from Noumea, buffet lunch, cultural dancing and a glass bottom boat ride.

Anse Vata Bay – This is the main area for sea activities. It’s also pleasant for a walk along the beach fringed by coconut trees. Numerous hotels, shops, restaurants and night clubs are also located at Anse Vata Bay. Dine at Baie des Citrons – Head to Baie des Citrons where you’ll find restaurants and bars jostling for space with indoor and outdoor seating and all manner of cuisine on offer. From fine French fare to seafood, burgers or pizzas, there’s something for everyone.

are a mecca for passionate foodies - so stock up on gooey (and affordable) French cheeses, foie gras and paté, and get your freshly baked baguettes, croissants or delicious pain au chocolat from the bakeries that are dotted everywhere.

Visit Port Moselle Market – Get down to Port Moselle Market which is open daily from 8am-11am (except Mondays). It’s where fishermen tie up and drop off their catches of fresh tuna. You can also get veges, fruit, olives and breads and have fun perusing the handcrafts, hats, sarongs and jewellery.

Right on the promenade of Anse Vata, this 300 room hotel complex is a great base to explore Noumea. There’s a vast range of amenities on offer, not least of which are the large swimming pool, tropical gardens and an outdoor restaurant/bar. With three properties under one umbrella, there are plenty of room types on offer, from comfortable standard to premium. The hotels are grouped around the pool and sun deck area, are in proximity to numerous restaurants, bars, shops and cafés and a short distance from a water activities centre. Anse Vata Beach is just across the road from the hotel and it’s an easy 10 minute trip to central Noumea and other main attractions.

Hotel Beaurivage is great value for money. It’s chic, contemporary and right on the promenade of the lovely Baie des Citrons – a top location, with excellent swimming across the road. The area is one of the most popular dining destinations for Noumean locals, and there’s good shopping here too, including some of Europe’s best known brands. Central Noumea is a short bus-ride away, and the hotel itself has a beach restaurant. All rooms here have free WiFi and are fully air-conditioned, with ample amenities. With the clear lagoon across the road you’ll have the biggest pool in the South Pacific to enjoy. Boats and windsurfers are not allowed close to this beach, so you’ll have a peaceful time in the water.

With its bungalows and picture-postcard setting, this resort more than lives up to its name. Standing on the shores of a tiny, palm-fringed island, surrounded by a 200 hectare marine reserve, it offers total relaxation. Here, the hardest thing you’ll have to do all day is decide when to reapply the sunblock, or when to take your next swim. There are three types of accommodation, but for maximum romance choose a thatched, overwater bungalow. These spacious bungalows have balconies that face the setting sun, and a flight of steps leading straight into the blue waters of the lagoon. If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, there are garden and beachside bungalows offering excellent amenities in a beautiful setting. Less than 30 minutes by boat from Noumea, Escapade really is a world apart. Facilities include a restaurant, swim-up bar, pool, massage, boutique and water activities centre.

After a busy day, the ‘Le Rendez-Vous’ sports bar located on-site is a fun place to unwind with a drink in hand while sampling the pub style menu. Set in four acres of gorgeous tropical gardens on Pointe Magnin, the Chateau Royal Beach Resort & Spa opens straight onto a superb stretch of beach ideal for swimming and has views right across the lagoon. This latest addition to New Caledonia’s luxury scene was designed to take your breath away – and it will. If you’re in the market for something really special, this is it. Opened in August 2014, it offers top quality accommodation in a choice of spacious rooms, suites with kitchens and Melanesian-style bungalows, with an excellent range of guest facilities. There are water and beach sports equipment available, including snorkelling gear, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Guided City Orientation Tour This tour is entertaining, fun and educational. It will give you an overview of the touristic, cultural and shopping hot spots of the city of Noumea. Starting at the Ouen Toro Hill look out, you’ll drive along the city’s famous bays Anse Vata Bay and Baie des Citron with their lovely beaches.

Take an excursion further afield to the Amedee Lighthouse, located 24 kilometres out from Noumea and within a natural marine reserve - home to a large variety of coloured tropical fish. This trip is a must for those who like snorkelling. Your excursion includes return catamaran transfers from Noumea, a delicious buffet lunch, a traditional dance show and a glass bottom boat ride.

Aquarium and Duck Island Explore the Aquarium on Anse Vata featuring turtles, sharks, tropical fish, sea snakes and more. Then out to Duck Island, where you can snorkel along the 500 metre underwater walkway and come face to face with a myriad of tropical fish and coral.

Gourmet Tour Be introduced to the city and its surrounds and immerse yourself in French influence and island culture. Soak up the atmosphere at the colourful markets, a perfect spot for some shopping and wander along the Promenade.

Ile des Pins

Tropical island fantasies meet reality on the Ile des Pins, a 20 minute flight from Noumea. Crystal lagoons lap white sand beaches, which in turn are fringed with the island’s unique combination of flora, palms and stately Araucaria pines. Both Kanumera and Kuto Bays are well known in the Ile des Pins. Kanumera is great for snorkelling especially around the Sacred Island as the bay is rich with sea life. Kuto Bay is your more idyllic, postcard perfect beach where the water is clear and shallow and the sand is a soft as powder. While the beaches are almost irresistible, Ile des Pins also has other nooks and crannies to explore. Like the ever intriguing caves. Don’t miss the Oumagne Grotto, better known as the Cave of Queen Hortense, steeped in myth and legend. Or take your camera and visit the remains of a 19th century convict settlement at Ouro where you can freely walk around the crumbling walls of the old gaol. Ile des Pins is only 18 kilometres by 14 kilometres so exploring is easy – rent a car, bike or scooter and discover your own piece of paradise. We recommend you plan a stay of at least three days to get the most out of your holiday.

Built among century-old coconut palms by beautiful Oro Bay, it offers a superb standard of accommodation and an idyllic setting for self-indulgent relaxation. The resort blends so perfectly into its tropical surroundings that you’ll find it hard to distinguish its magnificent swimming pool from the extraordinary turquoise waters of the bay. Loyalty Islands

There may be no better places than the Loyalty Islands for combining quintessential tropical island activities (or no activity at all!) with encounters with the friendly Kanak locals and their unique culture. The three islands that cater for visitors are, Ouvéa, Lifou and Maré. Lifou is the largest island, with small coves, limestone caves, grottos and cliffs sheltering secluded beaches. Check out Jinek Bay Marine Reserve, one of the Pacific’s most pristine spots, with some of the biggest varieties of coral and more than 2000 fish species. Uga Tour The uga or coconut crab is said to be the largest hermit crab in the world. While it spends all its adult life on land, it must return to the sea to release its eggs. The second part takes place at night when the crab comes out to feed on the bait.

There is no shortage of deserted beaches and pristine anchorages here, and the swimming, snorkelling and diving are exceptional. The main island, Tongatapu, is home to the capital Nuku’alofa, and to most of the kingdom’s resorts. Many of these are familyowned and personal, because Tonga likes to welcome its visitors in low-key style - this is a place for simpler living and genuine encounters with the local people. With about a third of all Tonga’s population living here, Nuku’alofa can be a surprisingly bustling place but its size also means there’s a great array of restaurants, nightclubs and dynamic cultural shows. If you’re in search of empty white sands and brilliant blue waters, Vava’u is your perfect choice. This tropical archipelago has one large island and a host of smaller ones, all with shimmering lagoons, hidden coves and superb diving sites. Neiafu, the main centre, lies on the shores of the Port of Refuge, a magnificent deep-water harbour. It’s the prettiest town in Tonga, and has a Saturday market, plus shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. Ha’apai, on the other hand, has no towns at all. It’s a faraway world of atolls, lagoons and white sand – an untouched slice of pure Polynesia, where most islands are tiny and uninhabited. The main centre is the friendly village of Pangai on Lifuka, with a lone bank and a few small stores. Ha’apai is way off the beaten track, and if you’re looking for somewhere untouched by time, you’ll love it here. Whale watching, swimming with whales and kite-surfing are on offer and there’s history too: it was in these islands that the Bounty Mutiny took place.

Friendly Islands Kayak Company The lush tropical islands of Vava’u and Ha’apai are home to Friendly Islands Kayak Company. Whilst the islands are separated by reefs or open water, they are not great paddling distances apart so there’s plenty of time to kayak the warm waters, snorkel amidst colourful coral and inside legendary marine caves, and observe the traditional way of life of the Tongan people. Your most difficult choice will be deciding on which kayak tour to do. Vava’u’s hilly terrain is perhaps more interesting and scenic but if it’s white sand beaches you’re after, there’s no shortage of these in Ha’apai. Snorkelling’s superb in both island groups, but soft corals and sizeable fish are more abundant in Ha’apai waters. On the other hand, Vava’u’s relatively sheltered waters are conducive to more reliable whale sightings between July and October.

OUR SERVICES AND OBLIGATIONS 1.1 House of Travel Ltd (‘we” or “us” as the case may be) supply services consisting of arranging and co-ordinating travel facilities and services, and making bookings and issuing vouchers to be redeemed by suppliers of travel, entertainment, and accommodation facilities or services (“Suppliers”). House of Travel Ltd is part of the House of Travel group. 1.2 We undertake to perform these services with reasonable care and skill. We will not be liable for any loss or damage which results from the act, default or omission of any person other than ourselves, our employees or agents, or any cause independent of human control. This includes (but is not limited to), loss or damage which arises directly or indirectly from any act of God, weather disruptions, dangers incidental to the sea, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Governments or other authorities de jure or de facto, wars whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, deaths, pilferage, epidemics, quarantines or medical or customs regulations. 1.3 We are not able to exercise control over services we do not supply directly, therefore we will not be responsible for any loss or damage arising from: • Any booking made directly with a service Supplier by your travel agent, or • Any services which are not directly provided by us and which are additional to those recorded in clause 1.1 above. 1.4 We will endeavour to provide the most suitable travel arrangements to meet the particular requirements you make known to us. SUPPLY OF TRAVEL, ENTERTAINMENT AND ACCOMMODATION SERVICES AND FACILITIES

Requests for specific bedding arrangements must be made at the time of booking but can not be guaranteed. For example, twin share may consist of single beds or a shared double bed. 4.6 Rental Cars: We cannot guarantee to provide a particular model or colour within the car category. Availability of car categories is subject to confirmation at the time of booking. We reserve the right to substitute different models. If a vehicle is returned prior to the end of the reserved rental period or if the vehicle is picked up later than the reserved date, NO REFUND will be made for unused rental days.

INSURANCE We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against cancellation, loss of luggage and personal property, and medical expenses. ITEMS NOT COVERED Unless otherwise specified, the cost of airfares, meals, drinks, laundry, insurance, sightseeing, transfers, local taxes, airport departure taxes, Airline imposed insurance levies, passenger service charges and Passport or Visa application fees are not included. 12. VISAS/PASSPORTS For all holidays in this brochure you will require a valid passport. You are responsible for arranging your own passport, visa and health requirements including inoculation. You should check with your travel agent who will be able to provide you with the necessary information.

13. NON-USE OF SERVICES OR FACILITIES

5.1 The price indicator is provided as a guide only. It is based on low season, per adult share twin pricing and is correct at the time of printing. The actual price may differ to that indicated due to currency fluctuations, special events, trade shows or peak periods.

If, of your own choice, you decide not to use part or parts of the arranged services or facilities, you will not be entitled to a refund from us (provided we have carried out our service with reasonable skill and care and to your requirements) and you may not be entitled to a refund from any Supplier.

5.2 We will guarantee the price of the portion of the booking as processed by us, against currency fluctuation for a period of seven (7) days from the time of confirmation of the booking; note: special conditions apply for cruise bookings. It is the responsibility of your travel agent to advise you of the date of confirmation. If your booking remains unpaid after the seven (7) day guarantee period it will be subject to currency fluctuation, up to the time full payment is received by us. 5.3 Events beyond our control, such as changes to the prices of aviation fuel or changes to the cost of services or facilities may result in the prices charged to you being different from those shown in the brochure. You should check all prices with your travel agent before making reservations, and before ticketing.

14. HEALTH OR DISABILITY Some Suppliers may reserve the right to refuse to carry or accommodate people who because of a health condition or disability may require services or facilities to be provided in a special manner. You should check this with your travel agent. 15. SERVICE SATISFACTION

2.2 All travel, entertainment, and accommodation facilities or services are supplied directly to you by the Suppliers. We have no control over the facilities or services themselves, or the manner in which they are provided by the Suppliers. Therefore you should be aware of the following conditions:

During your holiday, if you encounter any situation where the service supplied to you does not meet your satisfaction, please take the matter up with the Supplier immediately. Your contract for each service is with the Supplier. If this is not possible immediately, or if you are still dissatisfied, please contact your travel agent. Both we and your travel agent will endeavour to investigate on your behalf and to negotiate with the Supplier to resolve the matter as soon as possible, so that you continue to enjoy your journey.

• We will not be liable for any loss or damage of any kind which may arise from your use or consumption of, or inability to use or consume those facilities or services.

To assist you with the selection of your accommodation, we have created our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. Please note that these gradings are to be used as a guide only and may alter throughout the year due to a change of circumstances. Please check with your House of Travel consultant to ensure you get the property that best suits your needs.

Any claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our services to you will be governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any claim or legal action against the Suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms of your contract with them, and may be governed by the laws of other countries.

2.1 When we make bookings with Suppliers, we are acting as a booking agent for such Supplier.

• The provision of those facilities or services is subject to the terms and conditions of your contract with each Supplier. • Where for any reason, a Supplier is unable to provide particular facilities or services, then that Supplier may be entitled, under its contract with you, to substitute those services or facilities with comparable or equivalent facilities or services without incurring any liability to you. You should check your contract with each Supplier. • All facilities or services described by us are subject to availability from the Supplier. • We will not be liable or responsible for any loss or damage relating to your baggage, personal possessions, health or welfare, or delays or travel disruptions unless these arise directly from the service we provide to you. 3. BUSINESS PURPOSES You agree that where our services are acquired for business purposes, or where you hold yourself out as acquiring our services for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 will not apply to any supply of goods or services made under these conditions, and we will not be liable or responsible for any loss or damage of any kind to you, including any consequential loss or damage however it may be caused. 4. INFORMATION IN THIS BROCHURE 4.1 While we attempt to ensure that the contents of this brochure are correct, accurate, and up to date at the time of printing, the contents of this brochure are drawn from information supplied to us by Suppliers. We do not have, and cannot be reasonably expected to have, personal knowledge about all of the facilities or services provided by each Supplier. 4.2 Facilities or services may change after the date of printing. We endeavour to keep travel agents informed of any changes to information in this brochure which are brought to our attention. Prior to completing your booking, you should ask your travel agent whether they are aware of any changes to the published information. You should also make sure that if

7. PAYMENT 7.1 A non-refundable deposit will be required by your travel agent and must be paid at the time of booking. This is in addition to any deposits imposed by Suppliers. 7.2 A communication charge may be made for bookings requested less than 72 hours prior to departure. 7.3 Final payment must be made in full before we can release travel documents (including tickets). 8. CANCELLATION 8.1 If you wish to cancel your booking for any reason, you must advise us in writing through your travel agent as soon as possible. 8.2 If you cancel your booking or any part of your booking, we will impose a cancellation fee in respect of each person travelling under that booking. You must also pay all cancellation fees imposed by Suppliers and your travel agent. These cancellation fees are required to offset booking, communication, and administrative charges which have already been incurred by us, Suppliers and your travel agent. Cancellation fees imposed by Suppliers and travel agents are beyond our control and you should check with your travel agent regarding what cancellation fees may be applicable. 8.3 We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. See Section 10. 9. RESERVATION AMENDMENTS We are happy to incorporate any reasonable amendments you request. An amendment constitutes a change to an existing booking and will attract a
