Oregon

It's time to discover the enchanting state of Oregon in the northwest of the United States. Why? Think gorgeous alpine forests, dramatic Pacific Coast beaches, fascinating landscapes and the state's undying passion for food and wine - what's not to love?

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE OUTDOORS Oregon is paradise - especially for those who love the outdoors, as many days can be spent relishing its natural treasures. Take the Oregon Coast, for instance. There is around 584 kilometres of stunning coastline to explore, with vast sand dunes, sheer cliffs and ancient forests. Beautiful coastal towns and fishing villages are also to be visited, such as Cannon Beach, Newport and Garibaldi. The Columbia River Gorge and Crater Lake are some other watery wonders. Dramatic cliffs plunge into the lake, with deep, sapphire blue colouring which has to be seen to be believed. Perfect for hiking, kayaking and all manner of outdoor pursuits.

GET A TASTE OF PORTLAND Oregon’s most populous city, hip and quirky Portland, is laid back with a friendly vibe. The city is nice and flat with attractions close by, so be sure to pack your walking shoes. The culinary scene in the city is fantastic, expect local and organic fresh produce. All the care that’s

gone into its production is evident in the succulent flavours you’ll find around every corner. Beverage wise, you’ve got your artisanal wines, and hops and barley beers which are grown in the state so once again, those local flavours find their way to your tastebuds. Head to Southwest 10th Avenue and Alder Street for a tantalising variety of food carts and pods. Once you’ve had your fill, be sure to explore the city landscape. The Pearl District is a cultural gem, so enjoy its features such as the world’s largest independent bookstore, old loading docks and cobblestones galore, finishing up with a stylish dining experience. Also be sure to lap up the shops, because Oregon is a tax-free state, which means tax-free shopping! You could take our word for it that Oregon is amazing - or just see for yourself.

of New

Orleans

Soak up the SIGHTS and SOUNDS

Home to scores of jazz music, a plethora of history, piles of mouth-watering treats, a true melting pot of cultures and an absolutely enchanting atmosphere, New Orleans is one city you need to experience. INTRODUCING NEW ORLEANS’ NEIGHBOURHOODS One of the best ways to explore the city is to stroll the streets of the various neighbourhoods, all diverse and equally fascinating. The French Quarter, in the heart of New Orleans, exudes charm with its architectural mix of Spanish, French, Creole and American influences. Visit historical buildings, the French Markets and lap up the vibrant café scene. Wander the streets of the Garden District, filled with fountains and Greek-influenced architecture. Check out the oaks of Coliseum Square and soak up the romantic atmosphere through the laneways. Faubourg Marigny and Bywater are home to great music and scrumptious foods. Stop by jazz clubs, art galleries and the quaint restored cottages for a truly authentic experience.

(giant sandwiches), beignets (doughnuts drowned in icing sugar), crawfish etouffee, po boys, king cakes and more. You could even take a New Orleans cooking class!

SAIL THROUGH SWAMPS You wouldn’t know it while you’re wandering the eclectic streets of the town, but New Orleans is surrounded by swamp. Beautiful bayou trees coated in moss drape down over the water, which conceals lurking alligators. Hop aboard a swamp tour and experience this mysterious world.

DELVE INTO DEEP HISTORY You can’t ignore New Orleans’ plantation history. Grand homes and properties that once housed wealthy owners and slaves now act as a look into the past. Take a tour of plantation homes and hear stories of tragedy and triumph from the past.

JIVE TO SOME JAZZ AND DEVOUR THE CUISINE Head to Frenchman Street, just by the French Quarter, for an alternative to New Orleans’ tourist hub, Bourbon Street. This is where the locals tap their toes to jazz, Latin, reggae and blues, in traditional woodensigned venues. Try all the classic New Orleans flavours you can. Munch on some jambalaya (a rice dish), muffulettas

Glaciers, bears &

the Northern Lights:

Alaska is a destination you need to add to your bucket list, stat. This incredibly vast state has a diverse array of scenery like nowhere else in the world. The sights of Alaska will truly take your breath away.

ADVENTURES IN ANCHORAGE AND FAIRBANKS Anchorage is a city that maintains the perfect mix of stunning natural environment and metropolitan buzz. Explore national parks, join a bear-watching expedition, or simply wander the streets for a slice of local life.

THE AMAZING LANDSCAPES OF ALASKA With Alaska being a fifth of the USA's total land area, you’ll want to set aside plenty of time to explore some of the 15 national parks and regions. For starters, head to Glacier Bay National Park where you can cruise through icy waters looking out at massive formations of tidal glaciers and striking silhouettes of icebergs. Then there’s Denali National Park, with Mt McKinley, North America’s highest peak, dominating the skyline. It’s also home to a huge array of animals including the famous four: moose, caribou, wolf and bears. DENALI HIGHLIGHTS TOUR

Fairbanks is also worth a visit. In the summer, the sun is up for almost 24 hours! Pan for gold in the local rivers or check out the Indigenous Inuit history and culture of Alaska in the museums and galleries of art and artefacts.

SIGHT THE ABUNDANCE OF WILDLIFE You can't take a trip to Alaska without capturing its diverse wildlife. Look out for bears trawling the beaches for barnacles or fishing for treats at the riverbank. Explore the wonders -of MAUI

You can't beat the island of Maui for its natural charm and splendid scenery. From strolling the beaches and hiking in the jungle to watching out for whales, it's a nature-lover's paradise. TAKE A STEP BACK IN TIME

PARTY LIKE A HAWAIIAN

DELVE INTO THE UNDERWATER WORLD

Start off in the glorious streets of Lahaina, a historic town that was once Hawaii's capital and a whaling village. Take in the old-worldly feel of this destination by wandering Front Street. Travel the self-guided Lahaina Historic Trail and walk in the footsteps of those from days gone by.

Experience a lua’u, a traditional Hawaiian party and feast with plenty of entertainment. Savour the flavours of food cooked in earth ovens, known as imu. Kalua pig, coconut pudding and Hawaiian taro are all on the menu. Watch hula performances, listen to local songs and settle into the laidback and friendly Hawaiian way of life.

Maui's a great place to take the plunge and explore the underwater world. Snorkel or scuba dive to come face to face with an array of bright coral, friendly sea turtles and tropical fish all colours of the rainbow. Some of the top spots are the northern section of Ka’anapali Beach near Black Rock, or the small island of Molokini, which is just southwest of Maui.

WATCH FOR WHALES Head out for a spot of whale-watching. West and South Maui are famous for their clear water and calm conditions, making it easy to spot humpback whales December through to April. Watch as the creatures playfully blow water spouts up into the air and splash around right before your eyes. Great island vantage points for spotting whales also include McGregor Point lookout, Kihei, Wailea and Ka’anapali.
