This turtle shaped island is located 8 kilometres west of mainland Malaysia and accessible by road over two bridges, ferry or plane. Often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, Penang is well known for its easy going kampungs (villages), sandy beaches, sightseeing and food.

Due to the diverse culture, foodies are spoilt for choice here, as each culture with their unique cooking styles have dared to create dishes that are a blend of tastes and spices. Famed throughout the country for specialties such as Laksa and Nasi Kandar which are found everywhere around the island. Venture out at night in search of a restaurant full of Penang locals, because where there’s locals, there’s good food. For the best Char Kway Teow (a popular noodle dish) take a walk along Lorong Selamat in Georgetown. One of the main attractions of Penang are the beaches. Batu Ferringhi along the north of the island, is by far the best and most visited beach area. With plenty of luxury hotels and restaurants, it’s a favourite with both locals and visitors. For more secluded, unspoilt beaches head to the northwestern coast. Here you’ll find Monkey Beach, Muka Head, Pantai Kerachut and Teluk Kampi which are all part of the Penang National Park. Georgetown is the second largest city in Malaysia and a favourite spot for visitors. Featuring one of the largest collections of 19th and early 20th century churches, temples, mosques and colonial buildings you can see why it’s classed as a UNESCO World Heritage-site. Visit between June to July for the Georgetown Festival and you’ll be treated to a month long celebration featuring art, music, dance, opera and film.

Penang Hawker Food – As Penang is the food capital of Malaysia, visit Gurney Drive. It’s the best of Penang on a plate! Hawkers fire up their woks and dish out street food fit for a king. The popular seafront promenade exemplifies the colours and atmosphere of Penang – fun, lively and vibrant. Penang Hill – Take a short ride up the funicular or a 2-3 hour hike, where you’ll be spoilt with a fantastic view of Georgetown and the Penang Bridge at the summit. Visit at night time for the best views of Georgetown lit up. Kek Lok Si Temple – The largest Buddhist Temple in Malaysia, located hillside and dating back to the early 20th century. Reach the top by a mini-funicular train where you’ll be greeted by a giant statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Over Chinese New Year the temple is covered with hundreds of lanterns which makes for an even more spectacular photo. Shopping – On Gurney Drive you’ll find an array of hawker stalls to choose from in the evening as well as Gurney Plaza, featuring a good selection of international brands. The Street of Harmony – A famous street featuring many different places of worship including Masjid Kapitan Keling Mosque, Kuan Yin and Sri Mahamariamman Temples, St George’s Church, Cathedral of Assumption and Khoo Kongsi. Snake Temple – Famous for its pit vipers living within the temple grounds. If you’re brave enough you can even touch them. Legend has it that a healer gave shelter to the snakes of the jungle and once the temple was complete the snakes appeared on their own accord. Get around by Trishaw – Hire one of these three wheeled, human powered vehicles and hear the history of this island from a local, it’s like your own private city tour. Make sure you negotiate the fare beforehand. Penang Museum & Art Gallery – Built in 1821 and previously called the Penang Free School. Now showcasing old photographs, maps, historical relics and paintings of early Penang. A great insight to Penang’s history. Water sports – Hit Batu Ferringhi for water activities such as banana boat riding, jet ski, parasailing and catamaran sailing to name a few.

Langkawi’s main island is accessible by plane or ferry from the mainland or Penang and surrounded by beautiful beaches, paddy rice fields, lush tropical rainforest and incredible wildlife. Settle in for the perfect beach getaway and let the sand warm your toes with a walk along Tanjung Rhu Beach. Located in the north and lined with tall casuarina trees, limestone caves, and mangroves it’s a nature lover’s paradise. You’ll find plenty of resorts and restaurants all scattered along the beach. Located at the south-western tip of the island is Cenang Beach, one of the more lively beach areas and home to some of the most beautiful resorts. Langkawi Cable Car and Sky Bridge – A 15 minute journey by cable car will see you to the top of Mt. Mat Cincang. Admire the lush rainforests and the minuscule islands from the 708 metre peak. Head to the observatory deck or make your way to the 125 metre long curved sky bridge. This bridge suspends by cable, so it’s not for the faint-hearted. Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls – Also known as the Seven Wells, this is a group of seven pools connected by a series of waterfalls flowing down the side of Mat Cincang Mountain. Head to the foot of the mountain and walk up the steps to the lowest pool or hike to an upper pool. The locals believe the area is a favourite haunt for mountain fairies. Underwater World – Housing more than 500 species of sea creatures including penguins, flamingos and harbour seals. Take a walk through the underwater tunnel for up close and personal views of giant stingrays, green turtles and sharks. Mangroves – Take a mangrove tour of the beach area at Tanjung Rhu. Venture through limestone caves, mangrove swamps and further inland, to dense forest. Island hopping – Take a boat to a nearby island. One of our favourites is the island of the Pregnant Maiden, only 15 minutes from Langkawi. With a huge limestone hill in the middle of the island rising high above a dense rainforest. Make sure you take a dip in the refreshing Pregnant Maiden Lake to cool down. Canopy Trekking – Gunung Raya is Langkawi’s tallest mountain and home to 400 different tree species and an array of wildlife. Here you can abseil, climb, rappel and glide over treetops on a cable system 100 feet above the ground. Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) – Featuring a striking 12 metre tall sculpture of an eagle ready to take flight. Set in the township of Kuah, this area also features miniature fountains, terraces and great sea views. Gunung Raya – The highest peak in Langkawi at a height of 881 metres. Legend has it the mountain is the cursed giant called Mat Raya who once lived there. With lush rainforest it’s a great place to go hiking in search of local wildlife.

Sir Mahamariamman Temple – Incorporating Spanish and Italian tiles, precious stones and gold in its design, KL’s main Hindu temple is an incongruous sight situated between two Buddhist temples at the edge of Chinatown. Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion – Which stands defiantly as a symbol of Penang’s past while modern buildings go up around it. Malaysian Borneo makes up the northern half of the island of Borneo, with the southern region being part of Indonesia. Split into two Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, both offer unique experiences. Sabah is the perfect place to start in this land of eco treasures. Untouched and unspoilt, Sabah’s heart is Mt. Kinabalu, an impressive granite peak stretching 4100 metres. Any trip to Sabah is not complete with at least a walk round the base of this famous mountain. Witness the ‘wild man of Borneo’ – the orangutan, at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, the largest sanctuary in the world or offshore head out to the Turtle Islands where environmental projects are underway to help the ancient sea turtles. The heart of Sarawak is its rainforests and the large rivers that feed in and out of it. With a vast network of national parks, it is a great place to explore the jungle, cave systems, wildlife and amazing flora and fauna found in these parts. It is also home to many unique and fascinating tribal cultures, including the infamous headhunters. There are numerous ethnic groups found throughout both states, the people are warm and friendly and enjoy many colourful festivals and traditions that will take you back centuries. Experience Borneo Our favourite things to see and do The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre – Located in Sandakan, this rehabilitation centre was set up in 1964 to rehabilitate orphaned orangutan. Watch the orangutan up close in their natural habitat. A boardwalk leads to a viewing gallery and feeding platform where the orangutan are fed milk and bananas twice a day. While rehabilitation is the main goal here, the creation of the reserve also minimises the impact of deforestation.

Sipadan – If you are a keen diver, this is the place to go. Formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct volcano, this area is now rated by many dive journalists as one of the top diving destinations in the world. It is located in the Celebes Sea off the east coast of Sabah.

Gaya Street Fair – Every Sunday in Kota Kinabalu, Gaya Street is closed off to traffic so traders can set up their stalls. Shop for anything, from batik sarongs, fruits and flowers, arts and crafts, to footwear, antiques and souvenirs. If you like coffee, pick up some local Tenom coffee.

Mulu Caves – This spectacular cave system, deep in Sarawak’s Gunung Mulu National Park near Miri, has over 200 kilometres of cave passages. Over millennia the flow of water has cut deep gorges through the Park’s limestone mountains and within the rock itself, creating a network of vast caves. The main underground attractions of the Mulu Caves include Clearwater Cave, the longest cave in South East Asia, and Deer Cave.

Selingan Island – On the east coast of Sabah, stay overnight at the lodge so you can see turtles come ashore to lay eggs 365 nights of the year. It is one of the most important turtle breeding spots in South East Asia.

Kota Kinabalu Sabah’s main city is Kota Kinabalu. Razed to the ground by the British and occupying Japanese, the city was effectively rebuilt in the late 1940s. Many of Sabah’s main attractions are within an easy day trip from the city, making it ideal for exploring. The city itself is based on the coast, overlooking a cluster of islands in the South China Sea. To the other side it is backdropped by the towering Crocker Mountain Range with Mt. Kinabalu in the far distance.

Head to Selingan Turtle Island on this overnight tour and witness the turtles laying their eggs on the beach before heading back to the mainland for a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Centre where the orphaned orangutans are fed.

Immerse yourself in this lowland tropical rainforest, home to many birds and mammals. It is the only place where the enigmatic Spectacled Flowerpecker has been recorded. Orangutans, gibbons, and other primates may be seen.

Day 1: Sandakan – Selingan Turtle Island Located 40 kilometres north of Sandakan, the island is an important turtle breeding area. A safe haven for endangered green and hawksbill turtles, this marine park is visited almost every night by turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. Transfer by boat to Selingan to enjoy an afternoon swim or stroll around the island. After dinner, visit the Exhibition Centre while the park ranger locates turtles coming ashore. If you are lucky, you may get the opportunity to release little turtle hatchlings from the hatchery to the sea.

Day 1: Lahad Datu – Danum Valley Conservation Area Transfer overland to Danum Valley Conservation area, Sabah’s largest protected area of lowland dipterocarp forest, preserved for conservation and research. Trek through trails for an opportunity to observe species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds living in this fascinating world of tropical rainforest. Search for nocturnal animals in an open air Jeep, weather permitting.

Day 2: Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary Depart for Sandakan to visit one of the world’s largest orangutan sanctuaries. Known as Pongo Pymaeus, this ape shares up to 96.4% of the human genetic makeup. In the state of Sarawak, Kuching lies on the banks of the Sarawak River on the north western part of the island of Borneo. Although it has a slower pace than some other Malaysian cities, there are still markets and restaurants in abundance.

Day 1: Tawau Upon arrival at Tawau Airport, transfer by coach to Semporna and then by boat to your chosen dive resort.

Day 1: Kuching On arrival at Kuching Airport you will be swept away to discover the charms of this riverine city. Stop by the Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple, Kuching’s oldest temple. Proceed to Sarawak Museum for a tour of the Ethnology section housed in a colonial building reminiscent of a French château. Stop at Kuching’s riverfront, overlooking the historic Astana, the former residence of the White Rajahs.

Day 2-3: Diving at Sipadan Borneo falls within the ‘Coral Triangle’, and Sipadan is located at the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin, bringing more than 500 species of reef building corals, a global epi-centre of marine biodiversity. With more than 3000 species of fish, the whole area is classified as one of the richest ecosystems in the world. Day 4: Transfer back to Tawau Transfer by boat to Semporna and then by land to Tawau Airport where your arrangements now end.

Day 2: Batang Ai Embark on a 225 kilometre overland journey through countryside dotted with paddy fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations. Visit Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, to view semi-wild orangutans, who have been rescued from captivity and trained to survive in the forest reserves. Stop off at the Serian farmers market for a local lunch before arriving at Batang Ai boat jetty. Transfer to Batang Ai Hilton Resort for your overnight stay. Day 3: Longhouse visit After breakfast, depart for Lemanak jetty for a longboat ride up the Lemanak River to visit a longhouse. The actual price may differ to that indicated due to currency fluctuations, special events, trade shows or peak periods. Prices for tours are based on per adult per tour for share twin based on low season travel. Prices for hotels are per person per night for share twin in a standard room (except for villas if specified). 5.2 We will guarantee the price of the portion of the booking as processed by us, against currency fluctuation for a period of seven (7) days from the time of confirmation of the booking; note: special conditions apply for cruise bookings. It is the responsibility of your travel agent to advise you of the date of confirmation. If your booking remains unpaid after the seven (7) day guarantee period it will be subject to currency fluctuation, up to the time full payment is received by us. 5.3 Events beyond our control, such as changes to the prices of aviation fuel or changes to the cost of services or facilities may result in the prices charged to you being different from those shown in the brochure. You should check all prices with your travel agent before making reservations, and before ticketing. 5.4 Prices may also be liable to variation between the time of booking and the date of departure due to events beyond our control. Due to unforeseen events we reserve the right to vary the price up to the time of your departure.

To assist you with the selection of your accommodation, we have created our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. PAYMENT 7.1 A non-refundable deposit will be required by your travel agent and must be paid at the time of booking. This is in addition to any deposits imposed by Suppliers. 7.2 A communication charge may be made for bookings requested less than 72 hours prior to departure.

These fees are to cover administration and communication costs. You may also be required to pay any Supplier imposed fees. 10. INSURANCE We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against cancellation, loss of luggage and personal property, and medical expenses. ITEMS NOT COVERED Unless otherwise specified, the cost of airfares, meals, drinks, laundry, insurance, sightseeing, transfers, local taxes, airport departure taxes, Airline imposed insurance levies, passenger service charges and Passport or Visa application fees are not included. 12. VISAS/PASSPORTS For all holidays in this brochure you will require a valid passport. You are responsible for arranging your own passport, visa and health requirements including inoculation. You should check with your travel agent who will be able to provide you with the necessary information. 13. NON-USE OF SERVICES OR FACILITIES If, of your own choice, you decide not to use part or parts of the arranged services or facilities, you will not be entitled to a refund from us (provided we have carried out our service with reasonable skill and care and to your requirements) and you may not be entitled to a refund from any Supplier. 14. HEALTH OR DISABILITY Some Suppliers may reserve the right to refuse to carry or accommodate people who because of a health condition or disability may require services or facilities to be provided in a special manner. You should check this with your travel agent. 15. SERVICE SATISFACTION During your holiday, if you encounter any situation where the service supplied to you does not meet your satisfaction, please take the matter up with the Supplier immediately. Your contract for each service is with the Supplier. If this is not possible immediately, or if you are still dissatisfied, please contact your travel agent. Both we and your travel agent will endeavour to investigate on your behalf and to negotiate with the Supplier to resolve the matter as soon as possible, so that you continue to enjoy your journey.

You agree that where our services are acquired for business purposes, or where you hold yourself out as acquiring our services for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 will not apply to any supply of goods or services made under these conditions, and we will not be liable or responsible for any loss or damage of any kind to you, including any consequential loss or damage however it may be caused.

4.1 While we attempt to ensure that the contents of this brochure are correct, accurate, and up to date at the time of printing, the contents of this brochure are drawn from information supplied to us by Suppliers. We do not have, and cannot be reasonably expected to have, personal knowledge about all of the facilities or services provided by each Supplier.
