VARIETY Options

Dietary Needs

Housing and Food Services has more than 20 different restaurants across campus, including the all-you-care-to-eat concept, Couch Restaurants, which features the world’s only all-you-can-eat Chick-fil-A.

Housing and Food Services is happy to accommodate many dietary needs. We offer numerous vegetarian, vegan and gluten-friendly options. We also have an ingredient specialist on staff who works closely with students who have food allergies to make sure they know what they can safely eat.

2014-2015 MEAL PLANS Freshmen living in the residence halls are required to have a meal plan. Meal plans are designed to allow students the freedom to eat anywhere on campus without having to worry about carrying cash or credit cards. Meal plans are applied to your OU student ID, your Sooner Card, and can be changed during a two-week period after the first two weeks of classes.

Freshman Plans • 15 Meals/Week • 12 Meals/Week with 150 Meal Plan Points/Semester • 10 Meals/Week with 300 Meal Plan Points/Semester • 8 Meals/Week with 450 Meal Plan Points/Semester • 6 Meals/Week with 600 Meal Plan Points/Semester

Upperclass Plans • 150 Meals/Semester and 400 Meal Plan Points/Semester • 100 Meals/Semester and 600 Meal Plan Points/Semester • 25 Block Meals • 1,200 Meal Plan Points/Semester

A Meal One swipe of your Sooner Card equals one meal at Couch Restaurants. A meal is all-you-care-to-eat and does not roll over to the next week.

Meal Exchange Meals may be used for an exchange at most other campus restaurants during different times of the day. A meal exchange has a value of $7.50.

Meal Plan Points One meal plan point is equal to $1. Meal plan points can be used to make purchases at all on-campus restaurants anytime they are open. Meal plan points work on a declining balance and last for an entire semester.

RESIDENCE LIFE Resident Advisers

Each community in the residence halls has a Resident Adviser (RA) assigned to it. Your RA will be a great resource for all your campus and OU-related questions. RAs also program events and activities in each community, providing you with plenty of opportunities to meet the people living around you.

GET INVOLVED OU Housing Center Student Association

Resident Student Association

All residents of on-campus housing are members of the Housing Center Student Association (HCSA), which is an organization dedicated to programming, advocacy and service for students living on campus.

If you are interested in getting involved in your center, join your Resident Student Association (RSA). Each center has an RSA that reports to HCSA. Many levels of leadership opportunity exist within this group.

SAFETY SafeWalk SafeWalk is a late-night walking service. If students are uncomfortable walking alone, they can call (405) 325-WALK (9255), and two Resident Advisers will come to their location and walk them back to their residence hall or on-campus destination. SafeWalk operates seven days a week from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

SafeRide The SafeRide program provides safe, free taxi transportation to OU students within the Norman city limits. Students may pick up SafeRide vouchers from the OU Student Government Association offices in the Conoco Wing of Oklahoma Memorial Union from noon to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each voucher will provide free transportation for that weekend on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

24-Hour Secure Access

Emergency Command System

All residential floors are locked 24-hours a day; only residents of the floor have access.

A speaker box in every room alerts students to any type of fire or weather emergency.

HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS The Process To begin the process of applying for housing at the University of Oklahoma, visit our website at ou.edu/housingandfood. From there, follow the links to apply for housing. This is where you’ll complete your contract. Once you have paid the non-refundable $40 application fee, you’ll be able to complete your contract. You must be admitted to OU before you can apply for housing.

The Contract The Housing contract is where you can request your roommate and community preference and select your meal plan.

The Enrollment Commitment All incoming freshmen are required to submit an enrollment commitment fee after admission to OU. This covers your housing advance payment and an enrollment program fee. Students waiting for financial aid may request a deferment.

Assignments All three steps must be completed to receive an assignment. Assignments are sent to students’ OU email accounts mid-summer.
