2011 Houston Christian Football Game Notes Summary The Mustangs are looking to turn the corner and finish the non-district portion of their schedule on a high note. Last week was another tough, long evening where not much went the Mustangs way. Houston Christian started the game off with a bang, by recovering an onsides kick to start the game, but quickly went three an out. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of a frustrating evening. The Series This has been a back and forth rivalry for several years as these two schools were long time district rivals. Both schools, along with Second Baptist, finished in a tie for the district championship in 2007. That year saw both HCHS and Concordia reach the Division II Semi-Finals. The Mustangs defeated Concordia that year, but lost to Second Baptist, while Concordia defeated Second Baptist. The Crusaders answered with a resounding 35-10 victory in 2008, but have fallen to the Mustangs in both ‘09 and last year.

 James Robinson: Offensive Line  Tim Black: Kickers  Calvin Salois: Head Trainer Offensive Notes The offense is simply looking for consistency. The receiving corp is getting healthier and is talented led by junior Stephen Consoli, who enters this game with over 200 yards receiving already. Junior QB Alex Roys is very effective once he finds a rhythm and has a great upside and strong arm and good leadership traits. The run game is improving as the young offensive line is getting better each week. Senior running back Justin Anderson had a good showing last week, earning him the “Mr. Offense” Award.

Defensive Notes The defense is still searching for an identity as they have several new faces, and people in new positions. A big surprise has been the play of Stephen Consoli who has blossomed into a quality cornerback, who can come up and play the run as well as defend the pass. HCHS vs. St. Johns- Last Meeting The linebacking corp. discovered added depth last Last year was one of the more exciting games of the week with the play of “Mr. Defense” sophomore season. Houston Christian had come of a bad loss to Hamilton Paret. Paret tallied 15 total tackles in the 2nd St. Johns (48-0), at team that Concordia had defeated half, including five in the 1st 10 plays of the half. He earlier in the season. The Mustangs would pull it toadded much needed energy with his sideline-together and earn a 24-21 win against a good Concordia sideline play team. The Crusaders had the ball with lass then a minute remaining and were driving, when on 4th down, Special Team Notes Crusader qb Nathan Potter was sacked by linebacker Another week and another blocked kick for Ivan MorHayden Sneed, securing the victory. ris, bringing his season total to an amazing 5 in only 3 games. Another highlight was the opening play of the Coaching Staff game by kicker Keith Crawford who took advantage Houston Christian welcomes back head coach Mike of ST.
