Program Overview

Scholars work with their preceptor during the full-time (40 hours per week), 10-week program in a nonclinical department to learn more about operations and career opportunities in health care. In addition to working in their assigned departments, the scholars are also required to participate in professional development sessions. The program’s mission is to facilitate the scholars’ professional development through mentorship, hands-on experience and learning across Houston Methodist, and expose them to the various fields that comprise the health care system.

“At Houston Methodist, we are committed to providing, promoting and ensuring an environment that celebrates our diverse backgrounds and thoughts.
