1

KEEP MOVING. Regular exercise helps relieve tension and anxiety, as well as control cholesterol and body weight.

2

DRINK UP AND STAY HYDRATED. Drinking water throughout the day soothes dry, itchy skin.

3

GET IMMUNIZED. Your primary care doctor can determine whether you and your kids are up to date on vaccinations.

4

UNWIND BEFORE BED. Nighttime rituals, including warm baths, light stretching and meditation, can help you relax and sleep better.

5

EAT SMART. Limit the amount of red meat, saturated fats, sweets and high-sodium foods you eat to maintain a healthy heart. Include more fresh fruits, vegetables, skinless poultry and fish in your diet.

6

BREAK THE HABIT. Smokers are more likely to develop heart disease than nonsmokers, as well as lung cancer.

7

FIND “ME TIME. Make some time each day to immerse yourself in a relaxing activity like reading or meditation.

8

DON’T DRINK YOUR CALORIES. Beverages, including alcohol and fruit juices, can pack a lot of calories.

9

SAVE YOUR SKIN. Use a sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF rating before heading out the door.

10

KEEP YOUR HEALTH ON TRACK. Your Houston Methodist primary care doctor can screen for serious diseases and treat minor problems to prevent major illnesses, so don’t skip your annual visit.
