POLITICAL The White House Is Bracing for 2018 Challenges By CNN/StyleMagazine.com

F

resh off a successful push on tax reform, Republicans and the White House are beginning to brace for a challenging midterm election cycle next year — with some White House allies concerned the President and the party aren’t ready for the political trials ahead. The internal tensions boiled over during a December 20 meeting in the Oval Office, where President Donald Trump and senior aides discussed political strategy for the coming year. Earlier in the day, Republican lawmakers had swarmed the South Lawn of the White House for an event celebrating their tax reform coup. But the President’s team was not basking in that afterglow. Corey Lewandowski, a former campaign manager for Trump, vented broadly about how the administration is operating — but focused his frustrations on Bill Stepien, the White House political director. Lewandowski “wanted to stress upon the President that there’s real concern that the White House and the RNC are not doing enough to prepare for the midterm election,” said one former Trump campaign operative who was later informed of the meeting by

a participant. “And if they’re not preparing for midterm election, they’re not preparing for the re-election.” The President listened and absorbed, letting the two men battle it out, according to the campaign operative. The loud disagreement spilled out after the meeting into the outer Oval, before Stepien and Lewandowski eventually stepped outside. Stepien declined to comment and Lewandowski didn’t return a call seeking comment. The New York Times first reported the disagreement following the December 20 meeting.

Growing stress

The episode reflects growing stress at the White House and among Republicans regarding the party’s standing ahead of the midterms and its preparations for the likely punishing election cycle. It also raises questions over the status of the relationship between the White House and its allies at the Republican National Committee and on Capitol Hill. When RNC officials met during the first week of November to plan for the midterm elections, “One of the biggest things that came out of that meeting was, the role of the RNC is to support the

Donald Trump president,” said one person familiar with the meeting. “That’s numero uno.” If committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has remained committed to the President, however, party insiders believe the RNC’s strategy has not always aligned with that of the White House. “Are they all on the same page? I think from the beginning, it could have been much better,” said a former committee official. A current RNC official said that Lewandowski, in his remarks to Trump, was “looking for a wedge to drive between the White House and the RNC, but there isn’t one.

And the political operation and fund-raising from Chairwoman McDaniel should tell the President how successful we’ve been over the past year.” The RNC currently enjoys a sizable cash advantage to its Democratic counterpart, with nearly $40 million on hand. When Trump met with McDaniel earlier this month to discuss the outcome of the Alabama US Senate race and the push for tax cuts on Capitol Hill, he did not express misgivings about the RNC’s strategy. First Black Woman to Run for Texas’s 14th Congressional District By Kelsey Whittington, Style Feature Writer

s a native Houstonian Adrienne Bell always knew she wanted to give back to her community and has devoted her life to making strides to doing so. As an education and health advocate, Bell hopes to use this platform to bring awareness and get the conversation going on these two major topics while representing the Democratic party as she joins the race for U.S Congress TX-14. My campaign speaks on the issues that relates to the people, healthcare, fully funded education. Raising minimum wage where people can actually live on their salary. Our campaign focuses on what the people needs and their issues so at the end of the day they can take care of their family,” said Bell. So that people are able to have a platform for their families to succeed she has a plan for a $100 Billion grant for new investments that can help create more jobs in the district while building new industries and rebuilding infrastructure. Growing up believing in the American

dream she has made sure to make it happen. With raising two kids and as a graduate of Our Lady of The Lake University and Houston Baptist University, and a current EdD candidate at Texas Southern University, she has proven that a woman can have it all and vows to fight for women’s rights in more ways than one. “I am for a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body and aim to make sure her voice is heard,” said Bell. With everything going on in today’s government Bell knew she wanted to be a part of change. We have so much going on whether it is assaults against women’s

rights, gay rights, or people of color and she wants to be a voice for the people who feel they do not have a voice. When asked what else she would like to accomplish with her campaign and if elected she expressed that she believes healthcare is a human right and plans to enforce a Medicare for All plan which will fight against the loss of protection for pre-existing conditions and cover mental illness. Bell is also a big advocate for education. She is a second grade teacher in the largest school district in Texas and wants to fight for quality education for all. Currently most districts spend so much

time teaching to one standardized test that the progress of the students overall learning gets lost in the crossfire which is why a goal for Bell would be to get rid of standardized testing all together. Funding for early childhood education has also been cut in Texas and she hopes to change that by making it a requirement. Adrienne Bell hopes to improve healthcare, create jobs, and enforce quality education while being a voice for the people who may feel they do not have a voice and hopes to become your Representative. Early voting begins February 20th, you can register to vote at www.votetexas.gov.

Lee Thinks Houston Airplane Incident Was Racial [TheHill.com]

ep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said she thinks the reaction of a passenger who accused United Airlines of giving away her first-class seat to the Democratic lawmaker was race-related. Jackson Lee released a statement on Twitter after a woman claimed the airline gave away her seat to the congresswoman on her flight from Houston to Washington. Congresswoman Lee said she followed her normal boarding procedures and did not ask or receive special treatment. She said she later learned that the woman had canceled her own flight. The airline issued the woman, Jean-Marie Simon, a $500 voucher after the incident and she was reassigned to the plane’s economy section.

Congress approved this Continuing Resolution that averts a government shutdown, but the lawmakers didn’t include any fix for the expiring DACA program. For the past few months, the so-called “dreamer” movement has conducted a nationwide campaign urging lawmakers to take action before the end of the year by passing what they call a “clean DREAM Act.”

Texas Population Grew to 28.3 Million in 2017 [TexasTribune.org]

fter gaining almost 400,000 new residents in one year, Texas is now home to 28.3 million people. New estimates by the Census Bureau show Texas crossed that population threshold between July 2016 and July 2017 following years of steady growth since the 2010 Census when the state’s population topped off at 25.1 million. Texas had the seventh fastest growth rate in the country in the past year – 1.4 percent – and it experienced the biggest numeric population growth of any state. But unlike last year, a majority of the state’s growth came from natural increase Texans having more babies and not people moving to the state. Of the roughly 400,000 residents the state gained over the past year, the addition of 209,690 residents was attributed to natural increase.

Same-store sales fell 4.4% last quarter, which ended October. In the U.S., samestore sales were down 7%. In the wake of the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, Toys “R” Us has had to contend with lost consumer confidence and strained vendor relationships, Brandon said. There was even a temporary interruption in shipping that hit inventory. Then there’s the baby problem. Much of the growth in baby product sales is online, Brandon said.

early 25 million Mexicans are getting a pay raise. From $4.25 to $4.70 -- a day.Mexican government and business leaders agreed to raise the country’s minimum wage starting on December 1 to 88.36 pesos from 80.04 pesos. The 10% raise is good news for 24.7 million Mexicans who work either one or two minimum wage jobs. But it also resurfaces a key complaint by American workers who voted for President Trump, in part because of his pledge to renegotiate NAFTA, the trade pact between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. With the U.S. national minimum wage at $7.25 per hour $58 for an 8-hour workday, or 12 times higher than the Mexican wage Mexico has a clear advantage to attract jobs.

LOCAL Living Naturally In a

Chemical World for Better Health By Destany Rainey, Style Feature Writer

T

aking care of our bodies naturally is not becoming a trend, but it is instead evolving into a necessity as studies are linking more diseases to chemical-containing products that we use every day. Psyche Terry, CEO and founder of intimate apparel and natural skin and hair care company, UI Global Brands, understands this and is making sure her growing clientele is able to purchase dependable products that suit their natural lifestyle. “We are a natural company. We make natural skincare, natural body care, natural bath, natural hair care, and we are moving over into natural homecare and natural snacks and foods. We are a natural lifestyle company. We are making products so that your life can be better and you can depend on what you’re putting in and on your body.” According to the Center for Disease Control, “more than 100,000 chemicals are used by Americans, and about 1,000 new chemicals are found in everyday items, such as foods, personal products, packaging, prescription drugs and household and lawn care products.” Terry is an advocate for natural living. She has always had a passion for specialty foods and items that make people feel better. “As a little girl, I used to try using mayo and eggs for ailments. I used to take oatmeal baths, I’ve tried oatmeal in my hair, I’ve done it all just to make myself feel better. I grew up with low self-esteem, so I used to try things at home to help remedy that. They were things that made me happy and brought me joy. Terry developed dry skin during

pregnancy, and after going to dermatologists and trying several different chemicals, she decided to go back to her childhood experimental roots and try out natural remedies to see if they would help her issue. “It got me trying seaweed and other natural products. They helped improve my skin, they helped me feel better, and I loved the fragrances from nature.” Following her discovery, Terry decided to start manufacturing her own natural products called Urban Hydration, with her husband, Vontoba Terry, who she met 15 years ago. She said they have always worked well together. “We’re nerds for business and love. We always stayed paced together. We did our master’s degrees together, and we just always felt so comfortable sitting next to each other and asking for each other’s advice. All of this just kind of flowed naturally into our workspace.” The couple, who were vegan for seven years, is always searching out natural remedies for treating skin and hair conditions so they can create products to cater to more people, Terry said. “We love the statement nature unites us because food and love unites us. Food unites us because it does not discriminate. Food responds the same to everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity. We don’t go by race or ethnicity because we don’t think that’s really fair,” she said. to be just as successful, or maybe even more successful than what we’re doing.” She said for women who don’t have strong business connections or strong support systems, there is still a way, as she too started without a strong business support system. “I used the people that I trusted and I shared my thoughts and Ideas with them. I had stamina and faith in what I was doing and I think people caught hold of that fire. LIFESTYLE Would You Want Your

Daughter to Date A Man Like You?

T

oday, I read one of the best written articles I’ve read all year in the Washington Post. It was about ex NFL player Larry Johnson and his struggles since retiring from football. The main thing I got from the article was something he said when he was talking about his daughter. I’m paraphrasing but it went, “When I found out I was having a daughter I knew God had a sense of humor. With all the bad things I’ve done to women he gave me a daughter in hopes that I raise her to never want to date a man like me.”

By Demez White, Style Feature Writer

ago would I want my daughter dating a man like me I would have told you of course not. My answer today would be different because I’m not the man I was. I’ve never been this guy that abused women or cheated on women but I was so emotionally unavailable and not ready to accept someone loving me. That can be just as damaging as being abusive. Dating is already difficult in our generation because we compare ourselves to complete strangers and the people we used to be.

That stuck out to me because most men that have done women wrong are terrified of having daughters because they feel as though karma is going to come back around in the form of their daughter getting her heart broken and maybe worse.

Combine that with the guilt and fear of passing down your worst traits to your mini-me and it can wear on you. Every time she cries or has a crush you worry that this is the moment it’s about to happen.

I personally don’t believe in karma but I believe in guilt. I think if you’re a man and you’re afraid of having a daughter you need to come to grips with the idea that you haven’t forgiven yourself. If you’d have asked me ten years ago, five years

You change who you are and change the narrative of who you want to be. You raise her right, you love her, you show her respect and admiration for her mother and she won’t be the girl that allows a man like the one you used to be to tear her world apart.

hree hundred sixty-five days have once again passed. The coming of a new year is a signal for us to start anew rewriting old mistakes, taking new chances, and completing unfinished business.

with any other health concern, changing your diet, exercising, and getting adequate sleep is always helpful. Oftentimes we get stressed because we become overwhelmed with too many tasks.

During this time of reflection and evaluation, we must clean house to say goodbye to the old in 2017 and say hello to the new in 2018. Houston Style Magazine wants you to present your best’s self in 2018 and gives you some pointers to get things started.

Prevent this by managing your time wisely and only take on projects that you can reasonably do without feeling overwhelmed. Be prepared to handle those tasks by being organized and not waiting until the last minute to do objectives. Just putting some of these tips into practice will decrease your stress level and increase the peace in your life.

*Say Goodbye to Stress and Hello to Peace

*Say Goodbye to Debt and Hello to Financial Security

Stress is your body’s response to life’s challenges. Your body, of course, will respond differently depending upon if the stress is acute or chronic and the source of the stress. Believe it or not a little stress in life can be good. It is when stress is prolonged that it becomes dangerous. Learning to manage stress is vital. Like

We may all be in this category after the holidays. America’s spending troubles trickle from the top on down. Living and spending beyond our means is what causes most Americans to be in debt. Saving and cutting back is crucial for getting out of debt.

Adopt habits of cooking at home instead of going out, and shopping your closet instead of buying new clothes are a few ways to decrease your spending. Cut up your credit cards and pay with cash or debit card to void credit card debt. In no time, you’ll see your debt decrease and the road to financial security will be clear.

If anyone steps to you with negativity, stop them before they even speak that over you. Building self-confidence starts with taking small chances to have small successes.

HEALTH 7 Tips for Managing Diabetes

S

taying healthy can be a challenge, especially for those living with diabetes. Everyone can have conflicts finding the right balance of partaking in healthy habits, such as exercise, eating well and even keeping your teeth and gums clean. From stress to self-care, life can be up and down when you’re living with diabetes. These seven tips from Dr. Natalie Strand, the winner of season 17 of “The Amazing Race” who lives with diabetes herself, can help you stay healthy and lead a balanced life while managing your diabetes. Communicate with your care team. Make sure you connect with your nurse educator, endocrinologist and dietician. Reach out to them with your questions as they can often help you implement subtle changes to avoid completely over-

hauling your lifestyle and routine because of diabetes. Get involved. Get a local group together to fundraise, vent or just understand each other. Groups such as Diabetes Sisters, JDRF, TuDiabetes and BeyondType1 offer ways to connect with others living with diabetes in person or on social media. Connecting with the diabetes community can be a powerful way to help ease the burden of living with diabetes. Keep doing what you love. Just because you have diabetes doesn’t mean you have to give up doing what you love. Make efforts to continue sports, travel and other hobbies, even if there is a learning curve to adapting with diabetes at first. Maintain good oral health. People living with diabetes are two times more likely to develop gum disease, according to the

Centers for Disease Control. Colgate Total toothpaste is FDA-approved to help reverse and prevent gingivitis, an early form of gum disease. Get into a routine. Find a routine that works and stick with it. This way you don’t have to make new decisions each day. Anything that can ease the mental burden of diabetes can help. For example, pick a time each year for your annual visits: eye doctor, endocrinologist, renew prescriptions, etc. Picking the same time of year every year can help ensure you don’t forget to take care of yourself. Make self-care a priority. It can be hard to keep diabetes care in the forefront. It can be boring, exhausting and also fade into the background. Remind yourself that one of the best things you can do for yourself, and for your loved ones, is stay healthy. Use your family as motivation to exercise daily, eat better-for-you foods and maintain a healthy weight. Manage stress. Diabetes can be a big stressor. Add jobs, kids,

relationships and it can become overwhelming. Find an easy and effective tool for stress relief and do it often. Even 5-10 minutes of guided meditation daily can have a big impact on stress management. For more information and ways to lead a balanced life with diabetes, visit OralHealthandDiabetes.com.

TRAVEL Panama City Beach, FL:

A Year Round Friendly Destination By Reginald Dominique, Social Media Editor

N

estled in the panhandle of the great state of Florida is a nations gem that is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful destinations that America offers. Welcome to the Real Fun Beach, Panama City Beach, Florida! Known as a waterfront town and vacation destination, Panama City Beach (also known as PCB) boasts miles of white-sand beaches with crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico, world renowned cuisine and southern hospitality unlike any other. Whether you are visiting St. Andrews State Park, one of 2 protected nature preserves nearby, shopping at the Pier Park outdoor shopping mall or enjoy an array of water activities; anyone can enjoy countless excursions in Panama City Beach. Join me as I #VisitPCB!

The Accommodations

When I received word that I was visiting Panama City Beach, Florida, I was thrilled to say the least. Besides loving “The Sunshine State,” I have always heard of “The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches” along the panhandle and there is no denying that the sayings are true. During my visit, I was lucky enough to stay at the only AAA Four Diamond Rated resort in Panama City Beach. Known as a Florida vacation destination for generations of memories, the property was built in the 1980s and reopened as in 2017 after an impressive $30 million-dollar renovation and rebranding. Throw in the amazing staff; this resort is almost heaven on earth. I arrived to be greeted by the doorman Adam who went over and beyond to ensure my arrival was terrific. Once I made it to the front desk, the agent Michael made sure I was well informed about all of the amenities that the resort has to offer. From the natural beauty of the property, the modern new design, distinctive resort dining options, more

than 60,000 sq. ft. of group space, and full service spa; it was clear upon arrival why Sheraton Bay Point Resort is a Florida visiting guest favorite. No bragging here, but add the Nicklaus Design golf course, a private bay beach (which I loved), three pools, direct boat access to Shell Island, water sports and tennis, the Sheraton Bay Point Resort literally an oasis!

Relaxation

I was lucky enough to indulge in worldclass pampering at the award-winning Serenity Spa at Sheraton Bay Point Resort! Serenity welcomes you to step out of reality and into serenity in its 12,000 sq. ft. facility featuring exclusive amenities from sauna and whirlpool to the Reflection zero-entry pool offering calming vistas of St. Andrews Bay. Like myself, you can enjoy an expertly administered soothing massage of your choice followed by the amazing amenities that are offered. No matter what the occasion, Serenity Spa can provide an unforgettable, customized, and luxurious experience for you, your friends, family, staff, coworkers, bridesmaids or groomsmen! While in Panama City Beach, make your next escape to the tranquility and elegance of Serenity Spa and feel your daily stresses melt away.

Cuisine

It very easy to spend your day at the beach from sun up to down (literally) but somewhere in between, you’ve got to grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner right? Don’t worry; you definitely will not go hungry in Panama City Beach. The area may specialize in seafood, but there is not a shortage of other options. Whether you are hungry for some Southern-style pulled pork or a juicy, tender steak, solo or surf-n-turf, some of the best restaurants in Panama City Beach specialize in cuisine from around the world. If you are staying at the Sheraton Bay Point

Resort, step downstairs to their signature restaurant, Tides. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offering beautiful views of the Grand Lagoon and St. Andrews Park, you cannot go wrong. I started my mornings off with the Traditional Breakfast dish but there is also a breakfast buffet option For dinner, there is no denying the deliciousness that you will find at The Grand Marlin Restaurant. Between time and tide, The Grand Marlin serves a fresh and delicious flare of items while overlooking the Grand Lagoon. My evening dinner started with the Crispy Lobster Fingers served with vanilla bean infused honey mustard sauce. I decided to go big for entrée and boy was I in for a succulent surprise. The 14 ounce 1855 Angus rib eye served with herb roasted fingerling potatoes and seasonal vegetables what described as the best-cut meat in Panama City Beach and after my first bite, I surely believed it. Special thanks to my wonderful server Natalie who made sure my accommodations were impeccable.

Things To Do

Panama City Beach may be best known for the emerald green waters and sugar white sand, but there is a wealth of fun and exciting activities all around the beach too! If you are a guest at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort, grab a Yolo bike or walk through trails, fish with your kids, or have fun while exercising at their tennis courts, in one of their 3 pools and more. For those

who love the outdoors, the Conservation Park is perfect for anyone that enjoys nature, hiking, and biking.Encompassing over 2900 acres, the Conservation Park has 24 miles of trails and over a mile of boardwalks that lead thru Cypress domes. If shopping is your thing, Pier Park is the “always growing” attraction to the beach, bringing up-scale shopping, dining, entertainment, and so much more. Whatever you are into, Panama City Beach has it.

On A Personal Note

I thoroughly enjoyed PCB. I had the opportunity to interact with locals and everyone was warm and welcoming. There is no denying that Panama City Beach is truly a year round, friendly family destination. The town was easy to navigate throughout and I had no problem fitting in. The Sheraton Bay Point Resort accommodations were outstanding. The staff really goes out of their way to make you feel as if you are home. The property is definitely highly recommended. Special Thanks to Charlotte Park of Lou Hammond Group, Catie Feeney of Visit Panama City Beach, Nancy Click and Anna Dower of The Mayfield Group and Charissa Thacker of The Sheraton Bay Point Resort. AUTO Ride Into 2018 with

illions took to the road this holiday season. In fact, this year was the highest travel on record with an estimated 107.3 million traveling via four-wheels according to AAA. As America’s most popular sedan, the Toyota Camry is one of choice for families, especially on long road trips. They love it for its reliability, safety, and comfort. In 2018, drivers will love it for one more thing, its style. When the Toyota Camry made a debut in the US in 1982 the vehicle’s frame was very boxy. Over time the frame evolved to get some curves and expand the frame. Although for the most part, the brand has played it safe with the vehicle’s frame making only slight changes to its classic look for the family-like appeal. Why mess with something that works right? But that was then. Toyota turned over a new leaf for 2018 taking the Camry from classic and traditional to unconventional and state-of-the-art. I almost asked if they had the wrong car when the 2018 Toyota Camry SE was dropped off at my house. The Camry has taken on an entirely different style that unlike any of its predecessors. Curves are sharper, lines are edgier, and the body pushes the envelope. Loyal Toyota Camry owners will wonder where did the Camry go while rejoicing over the changes made. No longer can anyone describe the Toyota Camry exterior as being bland. I invite them to view the new Toyota Camry, as it is a far cry from resembling anything plain. Before the Toy-

ota Camry just asked for respect; now it demands it. This new frame and style is part of Toyota’s new Global Architecture or TNGA that makes the vehicle more dynamic, athletic and fun drive to drive. With this new model, the Camry will attract more than just families but single professionals looking for an upgrade from their college rides as they enter the workforce. It is professional when you need to impress and exhilarating when you want a thrill. The word of the day for Toyota is low. The new body has a lower hood and roofline designed for more than style but for better aerodynamics and drive. Seating height has also been lowered and the front seats have been sculpted to hug the body more. Don’t think with these lower dimensions that occupants will now be crammed into the cabin. Toyota Camry is not lacking space in any capacity. More lowering was done to the dashboard to give off a more open design concept. Toyota offers the Camry in three different powertrains: 2.5-liter 4-cylinder (203 horsepower), a 3.5-litre V6 (301 horsepower) and a 4-cylinder hybrid. All of them have been modified for fuel efficiency with the hybrid, of course, giving the best of saving gas and moving fast. Handing and control are excellent on the Camry so drivers can really go places with a more than decent acceleration. One area that Toyota will always remain as the shining star is with its safety. Every

2018 Toyota Camry SE time you think Toyota has done all it can to make it the safest vehicle on the road it ups the ante. The features you have come to know Toyota for are still standard like the ten airbags, rearview camera, whiplash injury lessening seats, stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, and smart stop technology. Yes, all that is standard. But Toyota went one step further to now make their Toyota Safety Sense-P (TSSP) standard on all models. Under the protection of TSSP, the base model on up comes equip with traffic-adapting cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, and emergency braking in to avoid collisions and hitting pedestrians. What’s a family road trip without a singa-long? Sing all the way to your destination with the Entune infotainment system backing you up.

2018 Toyota Camry SE

The 3.0 audio system has 4G LTE based in-vehicle Wi-Fi for up to five mobile devices, connectivity for navigation and app

suite that is shown on a 7” touchscreen. Sounds can be clearly heard on one of six speakers spread throughout the cabin. Bluetooth technology along with USB and AUX are available to charge and hook up any device. You can’t go wrong with any trim level (L, LE, SE, XSE, and XLE) but I would suggest opting for the SE model. I may be a little bias since my test vehicle was the 2018 Toyota Camry SE. I like my vehicles with a sporty sense of appeal and the SE and XSE give that vibe. I can live out my racecar dreams behind the wheel of a machine with a sport-tuned suspension and revised steering calibration. Paddle shifters and 18-inch wheels make the drive even more exciting. In 1983 a little over 50,000 Toyota Camrys were sold. That number grew to over 380,000 in 2016. Buyers remain loyal to Toyota so they constantly up their game to keep them coming back by offering more for a fair price. If Toyota keeps evolving at the current pace it is on, it will remain king of the mid-size sedan market. Drive into 2018 with what soon will become more than America’s favorite family vehicle but America’s favorite sedan period.

3 Tips for Cooking Up a Healthy New Year By Family Features

fter a holiday season filled with indulgent food and limited time for exercise, there’s no time like the New Year to adopt some new, healthy habits.

smoothies with water that contains impurities. Contrary to what some people may think, boiling water does not completely remove certain contaminants like lead from water.

These additional tips can help you get a healthy start to the New Year: Change up your routine. Start by making a few lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a healthier diet or increasing your exercise regimen.

“Drinking water daily is an important component to staying healthy, as water keeps you hydrated, aids in digestion and transports vitamins and other nutrients.

Maybe you’d like to shed a few pounds or tone up before the weather gets warmer. Changing up your eating (and drinking) habits can be the first step on the path to success. Start at the tap. Make sure your healthy eating habits include cooking with the best-tasting water possible. You may be surprised to know that the water coming from your faucet may contain unwanted contaminants such as lead and mercury. That means you could be washing your fruits and vegetables or making soups and

I prefer drinking filtered water to make sure I avoid potentially unwanted contaminants,” said Keri Glassman, a registered dietitian, nutritionist and PUR spokesperson. “I recommend installing a faucet filtration system that won’t break the bank, such as the PUR Advanced Faucet Filtration System, for a superior, on-demand solution for clean, healthy and great-tasting water right from the tap.” Visit PUR.com to learn more about superior faucet filtration systems and how to get cleaner, better-tasting water. Create healthy, hearty recipes. There are
