2 Pictureville Cinema - nmm Situated inside the National Media Museum, the Pictureville Cinema regularly hosts the best in current and classic titles as well as independent and foreign films. As a location in Bradford Film Festival and Animation Festival, which take place yearly, there is always an interesting array of film on offer. Yes, we are talking about Lidl. If you want to give your pocket some breathing space, I’d recommend checking out the Lidl supermarket off Manchester Road, near St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They have great prices that beat all the big supermarkets as well as a lot of other neighbourhood shops. Moreover it’s local. If you spend some time and energy in shopping around for the best deals you’ll have more money in your pocket to spend on having fun. So I say: Give Lidl a go!
3 Theatre In The Mill Theatre in the Mill is an innovative community theatre studio on the University of Bradford Campus. Theatre in the Mill aims to be a creative and socially engaging venue, showcasing a broad range of pioneering artists and performances. The theatre puts on great performances which are hard hitting, sensitive, yet true to the diversity of the City of Bradford. Bradford Playhouse The newly refurbished Bradford Playhouse is a community led theatre venue hosting many live events and performances including theatre, music, dance and comedy. A great place to experience Bradford’s arts and culture scene, The Playhouse is a creative hub with three different performance spaces and a 290 seat Art Deco theatre. 6 The Sun Hotel Right in the centre of town, The Sun Hotel has been part of the Bradford gay scene for more than 20 years. As well as providing a safe space for the LGBTQ community in Bradford, the pub hosts many live events including cabaret acts on Fridays and Saturdays and is open late. With a central bar, a lounge, space for dancing (with stage and a disco ball!) and a games and pool room, the pub also holds regular drag shows and a popular quiz night every Tuesday. 7 1 IN 12 CLUB There are few places in the world quite like the 1in12 Club, and as such, it is world-famous. Established in 1981, evolving from the local Claimants Union, Bradford’s 1in12 club has always brought together people who care about the social injustices of the world. It is a private members club run by its members and for its members – a space under the control and direction of the members with an emphasis on mutual aid, selfmanagement and co-operation. It has a live music venue, a bar, a library, a café, a recording studio, practice rooms and workshop space, as well as opportunities to help run the building and the organisation. This is a space that promises to inspire you.

Lulu Reubens - Freelance Writer Despite the very scary looking bouncers, Gasworks is a very friendly place where anyone is welcome. The staff and regulars are all fantastic, I love the family vibe where everyone is looked after... and the fact that you can go dance like an idiot amongst good company!
8 GASWORKS Gasworks is the home of the city’s rock scene and they know how to party hard! There are usually bands playing on both Friday and Saturday nights, they can range from the hottest bands about, to cover bands and local talent. Afterwards the DJ thrashes out everything from classic rock to 90’s cheese and serious metal into the morning! If there’s one thing Gasworks knows how to do right... its making noise! The sound guy’s here are fantastic and backed up by a beefy system... you haven’t heard a band properly until you have heard them here!

Be it a cheap kitchen bin or a vintage cake stand you’ll find it there, whilst you’re perusing the wares treat yourself to a homemade pie or samosa from one of the food stalls.
9 LISTER PARK & CARTWRIGHT HALL One of Yorkshire’s best parks, situated in the Manningham area of Bradford. Lister Park has been nominated as the Best Park in Europe as well as being Britain’s Best Park in 2006. As Bradford’s most popular park there are a wide range of features from a Mughal water garden to a free tennis court. Whether you want to rent a boat on the boating lake or just kick back with friends, there is nowhere better on a sunny day than Lister Park. 11 IMPRESSIONS GALLERY Established in 1972 as one of the first specialist photographic galleries in Europe, Impressions Galley is an independent, not-for-profit, contemporary photography space. Impressions Gallery continue to support and encourage upcoming artists and photographers who challenge the conventions of photography. Based in the City Park in the heart of Bradford city centre, every year more than 50,000 people visit the Impressions Gallery exhibitions and take part in workshop and events. A relaxing space for those who love photography and art, Impressions Gallery is a must see.

Matthew Crowther - Local Cafe Proprietor Bradford city centre offers a diverse shopping experience. There are plenty of the usual high street retailers in and around the Kirkgate shopping centre and at Forster Square, but its the independent shops that give Bradford its character and diversity. Check out the Oastler shopping centre with its world food stalls and specialist trades. Head to the North Parade and Sunbridge Road areas for an array of boutique shops. WHO ARE WE? HowDo?! is a creative media organisation established in 2011 to promote the positive facets of Bradford, West Yorkshire. We specialising in the art of print conception, from production through to implementation & logistics. It is a project coming from a multidisciplinary creative group of Bradfordians who share a passion for their home town - which was later developed to produce the HowDo?! Magazine that had 11 independently-made issues, over a span of two years, representing the cultural scene happening in BD1 and acting as its platform for expression for the people of Bradford.
What are we doing? HowDo?! is currently involved in establishing a print distribution service for the City of Bradford and the surrounding areas in order to provide an effective way of communicating events, tie together promters and venues, and encourage cross-promotion. We are also working with our partners to research and develop a HowTo document that outlines who does what, when and how, with the goal of producing a new What’s On paper & website.
