Garnet Residential Complex
The Garent Residential Complex is designed to foster community interaction while embracing modern aesthetics. The buildings feature staggered, terraced volumes that create dynamic outdoor spaces and enhance visual interest. This design approach not only optimizes interior layouts but also shapes the external appearance, creating a distinctive skyline that feels open and inviting. Integrated green spaces and commercial areas bring life to the complex, promoting social connections among residents. The thoughtful arrangement of the units and public spaces reflects a balance between privacy and community, aiming to elevate the everyday living experience while maintaining a sustainable urban footprint.

Concept Diagram
The concept of the project revolves around studying and focusing on the alleys and neighborhoods of Tehran. The goal was to explore ways to integrate a sense of neighborhood and shared hangout spaces into modern residential complexes, which are often lacking these communal features.
The idea is to redefine the traditional notion of residential complexes by incorporating pathways and gathering spots that extend vertically and throughout the entire. development.
2. The cube is divided into four main modules, reflecting the four residential unit types.
1. The initial form of the blocks is a solid cube. the height (number of floors) of each block varies, gradually decreasing from the north to the south of the site. This design ensures optimal sunlight exposure from the south while creating a dynamic skyline.
3. Volumes are subtracted from the modules to create forms with contrasting straight edges and filleted curves, adding visual interests.

4. Vertical connections are introduced between units, and each floor of the modules is shifted to create open and semi-open spaces on every level.
5. Open and semi-open spaces, designed as terraces, are incorporat ed within each module.
6. The final block features voids and openings, creating pathways and shared hangout spots that seamlessly connect with other blocks and the overall site.
Located on a 20,000-square-meter plot in western Tehran, the site benefits from close proximity to urban amenities, transportation, and green spaces. This strategic location supports a design focused on accessibility, community engagement, and sustainable, biophilic elements.
An effort to introduce contrastive voids within a solid volume to create visual appeal, provide gathering spots, and allow the block to "breathe".
Garnet integrates urban design principles within its architectural framework, fostering a sense of community through interconnected pathways, green spaces, and shared platforms. The elevated bridges and terraces connect different volumes, creating dynamic circulation while encouraging social interaction. The inclusion of greenery and open courtyards at multiple levels provides both aesthetic appeal and a refreshing environment, promoting a balanced and vibrant lifestyle for the residents. At its core, the design creates a central hub, serving as a gathering point and enhancing the communal spirit of the complex.

The basketball court designated for residents, located between the two resident-only parking entrances of the complex.
The pedestrian entrance is located on the west side of the site, designated exclusively for residents of the residential complex, with no vehicle access permitted.
The commercial center is designed to welcome both residents and outside visitors. Residents can conveniently access it from within the complex, while visitors enter through a separate entrance outside.

The kindergarten is designed to support working families by providing a convenient childcare option for both residents and non-residents.
This unit is designed as a duplex with a total area of 260 square meters. The bedrooms and laundry are located on the upper floor. The design includes two terraces—one on the lower floor and another on the upper floor—connected through a double-height space that creates a sense of interaction between them.
This unit type is 180 square meters and includes two bedrooms, making it suitable for smaller families. In these units, efforts have been made to ensure that the terraces interact with those of other floors through the greenery of each unit. While creating a sense of vertical neighborhood, each unit also maintains its privacy.
This unit type is 180 square meters and includes two bedrooms, with only one designed as a master bedroom, making it suitable for smaller families. In these units, efforts have been made to ensure that the terraces interact with those of other floors through the greenery of each unit. While creating a sense of vertical neighborhood, each unit also maintains its privacy. Additionally, the separation of private and public spaces has been carefully addressed in this unit type, ensuring they are completely distinct from one another.
Sunlight Collector
The sunlight collector, designed to enhance sustainability and natural lighting. It tracks the sun’s path from sunrise to sunset, reflecting light into the building to reduce the need for artificial lighting. At its core, a spiral staircase connects different levels, encouraging walkability and creating a sense of connection. The vertical design also promotes natural ventilation, keeping the spaces fresh and comfortable. This design combines aesthetics and function, using renewable energy and passive strategies to minimize environmental impact while enriching the living experience.
Project Aspect
The primary goal of this project is to create a space within the complex that fosters a sense of community among residents, despite their living at higher elevations. By doing so, it aims to build a vibrant neighborhood—a rarity in today’s world. The design features voids carved into the blocks, connected by short bridges, bringing a dynamic and lively atmosphere to the complex. These elements provide residents with inviting spots to wander and socialize. This interconnectedness ultimately creates a central hub—a true heart of the community—where neighbors can come together and engage.
