Member of the project team for the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Currently assisting with the design and detailing of the facade system and also the design and detailing of the moucharabieh (sunscreens). In progress of writing a script with parametric modeling tools to optimize and automate the modulation and modeling of the moucharabieh. In the design team for the renovation of KCUMB’s Weaver Auditorium, we split a large performance space vertically into two large lecture halls. This hall, sinuous and biologically inspired, created a contrast to the other more angular hall. I helped realize the design intent by using Grasshopper to define realistic parameters for the creation of the curved surfaces, based on construction methods and material tolerances.




The sweeping forms of the surfaces were controlled by only a few very refined geometric rules that had to work at every point along the perimeter. The acoustic plaster system chosen had a minimum radius of 4 feet. Multiple definitions were tried and compared to our design intent to find the correct logic for these forms. The final definition, bottom right, has a radius not smaller than 4 feet, which creates a subtle crease that sweeps the auditorium before dying back into the wall.



This design competition submission for Metropolis Magazine was focused around the idea of a collaborative work environment that improves overall well-being by responding to various social other daily human needs. This repurposed building in the Crossroads District would provide a work environment for companies to support employees living closer to downtown.




This third year project was organized in groups of three to explore a how to solve a complex program in a dense urban environment. Special attention was paid to architectural acoustics, lighting integration, and urban form development. Our concept was to have a compilation of colliding program volumes, guided at first by the painting “ The Sea of Ice� by Gaspar David Friederich.




The forms of the opera house were created in section, allowing all of the spaces to have a very rational space-plan. My specific focus was on developing the main auditorium. The angles of the building were echoed in the angular balconies, derived from sight and acoustic lines. The wood materiality provides a warm contrast to the glass, steel, and marble of the lobbies/exterior.


Role - Project Manager The Roth Trailhead was a designed and built from rammed earth based on our own hands-on material analysis. The trailhead is conceptually a slice of earth removed from the gentle hill to reveal the site’s history through the strata. The canopy creates a contrast to the wall and relates more strongly to the seasonal prairie fires through it’s shou sugi ban cedar louvers and fleeting character. At the beginning of the semester, only two of our students had any construction experience at all. Through our material exploration and a very hands-on approach to mock-ups and testing, we acquired the skills necessary to build the project on time and under budget. To save time, we used Critical Path Method scheduling to find which processes needed to be on time to complete the project. Based on that, we divided our efforts to on-site rammed earth build and in-house prefabrication of the canopy. Through a few simple methods like reusing our modular formwork and using recycle telephone poles, we were able to complete the $48,000 project for only $27,000.




This third year individual project was a luxury car dealership based on responding to a restrictive urban context with creative form and space-making. The site, very slim and with a tunnel underneath, restricted load bearing to only cerain lines. My response was to land only on points instead, and use those points to host steel arcs for a weaving and dynamic volume.





This comprehensive studio project from the fourth year at KU was focused on realizing regenerative architecture through an in-depth consideration of site, programmatic, and systems details. The project was meant to bring the two schools of the KU SADP together, both physically and with shared resources. It also addressed the needed additional space resources for the school’s accreditation. The design includes a large living machine that filters water, and the building is designed in section for efficient and passive environmental controls.
