ASPS Guide Reveals Best Practices That Aid Breast Reconstruction Recovery The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has created a breast reconstruction planner in an effort to facilitate smooth recovery after breast reconstruction, guiding women through the process. This is indeed a great resource for women in that they would receive reliable advice and instructions. Most of the tips come from trained and experienced plastic surgeons in the field. The third annual Breast Reconstruction Day was celebrated in the United States on October 15 to promote awareness regarding reconstruction options for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Surveys show that only very few breast cancer patients were aware about the options which could have made their life better. As part of BRA day, a lot of campaigns, lectures, gala fundraisers, question and answer sessions, flash mobs, advertising campaigns and community get-togethers were organized. It was a collaborative effort among the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Plastic Surgery Foundation, plastic surgeons, breast centers, nurse navigators, corporate sponsors and breast cancer support groups. This comprehensive guide was made available as part of the awareness campaign, which is sure to be a great asset for women who have undergone or planning to undergo breast reconstruction.
