She has an MFA from the University of New Mexico and currently lives in Los Angeles with her wife and their dog Whiskey. Her latest novel, So Happy For You, is out in July.`
Robin and Ellie have been best friends since childhood. They’ve been through everything together, from Robin coming out to the death of Ellie’s dad. But when Ellie asks Robin to be her maid of honour, Robin is reluctant. It’s not that Robin isn’t happy for Ellie, she just hates everything about weddings and marriage – plus the guy Ellie’s engaged to. There’s also the matter of the crazy (not to mention dangerous) wedding rituals that couples are resorting to in the hope of securing a lifetime of happiness. Despite her misgivings, Robin finally says yes. But as the wedding day approaches, she gets the feeling that everyone in the bridal party is out to get her. And it seems Ellie is willing to do anything for the perfect day. After all, marriage is about sacrifice… ‘Hilarious . . . Laskey is a magician, combining the important social commentary this genre needs with a knock-out page-turning narrative that will leave you guessing to the last page.’ Chelsea Bieker, author of Godshot and Heartbroke ‘So Happy for You skewers the wedding-industrial complex with uproarious bitterness and gleeful fury, and a spiraling absurdism that will leave you wondering whether it's all that absurd after all. If you've ever gritted your teeth through a nightmare wedding, this one's for you. A firecracker of a book’ Micah Nemerever, author of These Violent Delights ‘Magnificent. Celia Laskey has masterfully crafted the tense, messy, big-hearted, and deeply original queer love story we didn’t know we’ve been waiting for, as much full of human characters as incisive social commentary. I can’t wait to see what Laskey gives us next.’ Peter Kispert, author of I Know You Know Who I Am "Celia Laskey's sly thriller completely transfixed me from beginning to end. Tart and playful, this tale of a wedding weekend gone fatally wrong is part psychological game, part societal inquest, and part best friend break-up from hell. I loved this trim and thrashing read.’ Amy Jo Burns, author of Shiner ‘The sort of devilishly clever summer read I crave. Kirsten Miller is an outstanding feminist author in the YA and children’s space, who spent twenty-five years as a strategist in the advertising industry. During that time, she worked for some of the largest agencies in the world – including J Walter Thompson, DDB, Lowe, and Ogilvy & Mather – as well as boutique agencies and an eight-person start up. She’s proud to have quit a senior job at one of the most famous ad agencies in America over an ad that’s described in The Change. The Change is her first adult novel.
• Big, powerful story about women and menopause. Menopause = empowerment. • THE CHANGE uses menopause as a superpower for its three heroines, and this is an incredibly powerful and positive message. • For fans of VOX, The Power and The End of Men. • As binge-worthy as any Netflix drama. • Made Up Stories has acquired TV rights. They recently adapted The Undoing with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, which aired on Sky Atlantic. Their adaptation of Nine Perfect Strangers, adapted from Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel, aired earlier this year. • There’s a growing desire for a more positive and meaningful representation of menopause in novels – and THE CHANGE is the perfect book to answer that call with. • A feminist call to arms to any woman who has ever felt powerless. • Full of themes we can pull out for a creative and impactful campaign, as well as having that pageturning ‘beach read’ quality. • We’ll be sharing publication with William Morrow in the US. • We’re inventing a new genre… the menopause thriller!
The change is coming… Nessa: The Seeker Jo: The Protector Harriett: The Punisher With newfound powers the time has come to take matters into their own hands… After Nessa is widowed and her daughters leave for college, she’s left alone in her house near the ocean. In the quiet hours, she hears voices belonging to the dead – who will only speak to her. On the cusp of fifty Harriett’s marriage and career imploded, and she hasn’t left her house in months. But her life is far from over – in fact, she’s undergone a stunning metamorphosis. Jo spent thirty years at war with her body. The rage that arrived with menopause felt like the last straw – until she discovers she’s able to channel it. Guided by voices only Nessa can hear, the trio discover the abandoned body of a teenage girl. The police have written off the victim. But the women have not. Their own investigations lead them to more bodies and a world of wealth where the rules don’t apply – and the realisation that laws are designed to protect villains, not the vulnerable. So it’s up to these three women to avenge the innocent, and punish the guilty…

They claim they saw nothing. She knows they’re lying. 1996 – Cabramatta, Sydney ‘Just let him go.’ Those are words Ky Tran will forever regret. The words she spoke when her parents called to ask if they should let her younger brother Denny out to celebrate his high school graduation with friends. That night, Denny – optimistic, guileless Denny – is brutally murdered inside a busy restaurant in the Sydney suburb of Cabramatta, a refugee enclave facing violent crime, and an indifferent police force. Returning home for the funeral, Ky learns that the police are stumped by her brother’s case. Even though several people were present at Denny’s murder, each bystander claims to have seen nothing, and they are all staying silent. Determined to uncover the truth, Ky tracks down and questions the witnesses herself. But what she learns goes beyond what happened that fateful night. The silence has always been there, threaded through the generations, and Ky begins to expose the complex traumas weighing on those present the night Denny died. As she peels back the layers of the place that shaped her, she must confront more than the reasons her brother is dead. And once those truths have finally been spoken, how can any of them move on? *** 'All That’s Left Unsaid is honest, aching, and filled with beauty. LINDA FINLAY lives on the Devonshire coast and is the author of eleven novels. From lacemaking to willow weaving, each one is based on a local craft which, in order to write authentically and place herself firmly in the shoes of her heroines, she has learnt to do herself. However, it is people and their problems that make for a good story and, with so much interesting material to work with, it is easy for Linda to let her imagination run as wild as the West Country landscape which has inspired her writing.
Nettlecombe Manor is home to the Earl of Farringdon and his second wife, Lady Charlotte. As if running the estate and keeping poachers at bay wasn’t enough, the Earl has five daughters to keep him busy and the imminent debutante ball in London means that the family must decamp from Devon to the City for a season of parties and introductions, with a suitable marriage in mind. • Speaks beautifully to trends of kindness and community – conversations that are going to be gaining traction in 2022 and beyond. • Dr Laura Marshall-Andrews is a thought-leader in general practice. Her revitalised practice won Innovators of the Year, in the 2014 national GP awards and was a finalist in the Kate Granger Compassionate Care Awards in 2016. Dr Laura sits on the council of the College of Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She has already spoken for TedX Brighton. • Laura’s revitalisation of the Brighton Health and Wellbeing Centre provides a brilliant hook for the book – as she changes what a doctor’s surgery is seen to be able to offer into a holistic treatment centre. • For fans of Adam Kay’s THIS IS GOING TO HURT, Christie Watson’s THE LANGUAGE OF KINDNESS or our very own PRISON DOCTOR. • The ‘doctor with a story’ genre is still dominated by men – this provides a fresh woman’s voice.
‘Compelling and essential . . . will appeal to everyone who enjoyed Adam Kay’s This Is Going to Hurt’ Philippa Perry Award-winning GP Dr Laura Marshall-Andrews has spent almost 30 years working in the NHS. In this urgent, powerful, and deeply personal memoir she fearlessly reveals the struggles of working in a profession that has been broken by over-regulation. When Dr Laura Marshall-Andrews left the frontline buzz of hospital medicine for an NHS GP surgery, she was overwhelmed by the number of patients that were being let down by our healthcare system. Having witnessed the extent that box-ticking exercises were robbing her patients of their happiness, and sometimes their lives, she started to envisage a new way to care that put individuals and community at its centre. In What Seems To Be The Problem?, Laura tells the incredible stories of the patients, doctors, artists and complementary health practitioners that have shaped her years as a GP, and the new, holistic way to care they helped her to create. From heartfelt stories of hope and healing, to the heartbreaking consequences of caring for a community in need, this is a powerful story about medicine at a time when we need it the most, and an urgent call for change. ‘Compelling and essential . . . will appeal to everyone who enjoyed Adam Kay’s This Is Going to Hurt’ Philippa Perry ‘A wonderful and very important book which movingly describes how a GP both cared for and learned from her patients, and, as a result, opened up a new way for us to think about health and care.’ Lord Nigel Crisp, former NHS Chief Executive

And then Jen's husband, a Philadelphia police officer, is involved in the shooting of an unarmed black teenager and everything changes in an instant. ‘I invite you to be courageous and get comfortable with being uncomfortable, because any discomfort you feel is temporary and pales in comparison to what black and brown people often have to experience on a daily basis. Are you ready? The Good Ally is an urgent call to arms to become better allies against racism and provides a thoughtful approach, centering collective healing, to do so. It is a book for those against persistent racial injustice, hungry to expand their knowledge and understanding of systemic racism in Britain and beyond. It uncovers the roots of racism and its birthplace, anti-Blackness. The answer often lies within. The Good Ally is the answer to ‘what next?’ ‘The Good Ally is a powerful trojan horse. While the title calls out to every white person who has wanted to know 'How can I become a good anti-racist ally?', it's content delivers hard-hitting facts, stories, and reflections that remind us that it's not about being good, it's about doing better.’ Layla F.
