Faith Martin has been writing for thirty years, under different pen names, and has published over fifty novels. She began writing romantic thrillers as Maxine Barry, but quickly turned to crime! As Joyce Cato she wrote classic-style whodunits, since she’s always admired the golden-age crime novelists. But it was when she created her fictional DI Hillary Greene, and began writing under the name of Faith Martin, that she finally became more widely known. Having penned the Ryder & Loveday series set back in the 1960s in the City of Oxford, Faith Martin has now turned to the golden age itself, with a brand new series set in the Cotswolds of the 1920s. Having lived Oxfordshire all her life, both the city and the countryside/wildlife often feature in her novels.

The Garden of Lost Secrets HQ

A forgotten past. A garden full of secrets. A mystery to be uncovered. 1943.

Kerry Barrett was a bookworm from a very early age and did a degree in English Literature, then trained as a journalist, writing about everything from pub grub to EastEnders. Her first novel, Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, took six years to finish and was mostly written in longhand on her commute to work, giving her a very good reason to buy beautiful notebooks. Kerry lives in London with her husband and two sons, and Noel Streatfeild’s Ballet Shoes is still her favourite novel.

Present day. After their dreams of starting a family are crushed, Philippa and her husband Marco need a fresh start. Focusing on repairing the crumbling walls and leaking roof of the Cotswolds house they impulsively bought seems easier work than repairing their relationship. When Philippa finds a hidden memorial hidden deep in the garden, the discovery only pushes them further apart. But as Philippa determines to uncover the truth behind the memorial, could the secrets it reveals be the key to finally putting their heartbreak to rest? Don’t miss this sweeping dual-timeline historical novel from the author of The Girl in the Picture and The Book of Last Letters, perfect for fans of Fiona Valpy and Lorna Cook.

A gorgeous, high-concept romcom about finding love and daring to take a chance. After all, it’s all about timing. . . 29th February 2000. Lucy’s never met another leapling until she encounters Noah also spending his once-in-four-years birthday on a disappointing day trip to Calais. There’s a spark that Lucy is sure Noah must feel too, and their friends insist they have amazing chemistry, but they’re both with other people. It can never be more than platonic and that’s OK. Over the next twenty years, they’re at each other’s side through all of life’s big moments – weddings, babies, new jobs, family illness – but Lucy can never shake the feeling that they were meant to meet. . .

Anna lives in the South of France with her young family and energetic labrador. When not chained to her laptop, Anna can be found basking in the sun in the summer, heading to the ski slopes in the winter (to drink hot chocolate and watch – she can't ski) or having a sneaky treat from the patisserie – all year round!

If Lucy is to find a love that’s rarer than a leap year, she’s going to have to take a leap of faith.

Kathleen McGurl lives in Bournemouth with her husband. She has two sons who have both now left home. She always wanted to write, and for many years was waiting until she had the time. Eventually she came to the bitter realisation that no one would pay her for a year off work to write a book, so she sat down and started to write one anyway. Since then she has published several novels with HQ and self-published another. She has also sold dozens of short stories to women's magazines, and written three How To books for writers. After a long career in the IT industry she became a full-time writer in 2019. When she's not writing, she's often out running, slowly.

What if The One isn’t the only one? After nine years of dating, it’s a question of when not if Holly’s boyfriend Will is going to propose. She’s blindsided when rather than popping the question, he suggests they open their relationship and date other people. For the last five years, Fliss and her boyfriend Ash have been in a happily open relationship, but, now they’re turning thirty, he wants to close it which throws Fliss’s whole ethos of living life on her own terms rather than society’s expectations into question.

Fliss isn’t sure she’s ready to give up on dating other people yet, and Holly is willing to try anything if it means she gets her happy ending with Will. Fliss agrees to teach Holly everything she knows about being in an open relationship while Holly who’s been with one person for almost a decade can help Fliss try monogamy. But perhaps both Fliss and Holly will learn that there’s no one size fits all when it comes to relationships…

I write historical fiction, a genre I love. I loved the Victorian classics such as Jane Eyre, Little Women, Lorna Doone and Wuthering Heights. As I child I loved to read and when I had read my own library books, I used to borrow my mother's library copies of Anya Seton and Daphne du Maurier. I have loved reading historical novels ever since; though I'm a bookaholic and I read widely – contemporary and classic fiction as well as historicals.

Set in the fascinating world of wartime radio, don’t miss Book 2 in the WW2 Secret Agent Series, a heart-stopping novel of betrayal, treachery, and courage against the odds.

In the past I used to work as a set and costume designer for theatre and TV, so I enjoy the research aspect of creating historical fiction, something I loved doing as a scenographer. Each book takes about six months of research before I am ready to begin writing. More details of my research and writing process can be found on my website. I like to write about extraordinary characters set against the background of real historical events.

I am in love with somebody I’ve only just met. My heart is a harmonica. South London is a valley. World, hear my song. ‘I loved it, I loved it, I loved it!’ Dawn O’Porter ❤❤❤ Ella and Lowe are teenagers when they first meet. For her, it’s love at first sight. But it’s safest to love from afar, where the friendship zone is her safety net and she can’t get hurt. Over the next fifteen years, they share everything: grief, laughter, friendship, bottles of cider, cigarettes in the rain. But there’s one thing Ella can never ask him: whether he feels the same way about her. And every time Lowe kisses another girl, Ella feels her heart break just that little bit more. So can you ever really just be friends with the love of your life? And what happens when the day comes when you can’t keep the beautiful, terrifying, all-consuming truth to yourself anymore? From a unique new voice in adult fiction, I Love You, I Love You, I Love You is a glorious nostalgia trip for anyone who has ever known the exquisite pain and pleasure of first love. ❤❤❤ ‘I’ve been waiting for a book to make me laugh this much. It’s so perfectly observed: every woman’s story of the highs and lows of falling in love, perseverance and self-preservation. It will have you reaching for your phone to check in on the one that got away – just in case there is a chance. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it!‘ Dawn O’Porter ‘Laura writes fiction like the poet that she is. No line wasted, every word perfectly placed. The kind of relatable attention to detail that will have you wondering if she stole your teenage diaries and rewrote them with clever insights and laugh out loud humour. I'm not sure I've read a book so perfectly observed. It's every woman's story of the highs and lows of falling in love, perseverance and self preservation. It will have you reaching for your phone to check in on the one that got away, just in case there is a chance. It's a reminder that True Love can really exist. It's a real skill to create a character who is as wild as she is sensible, as chaotic as she is together, as safe as she is dangerous. Ella was perfectly drawn, I rooted for her the whole way. I've been waiting for a book to make me laugh this much. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it! Laura is going to take adult fiction by storm, I can't wait to see what comes next.’ DAWN O’PORTER

Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books

20 Jun 2024 £ 16.99

Royal 234x153, Hardback

Kirsten Miller grew up in a small town in the mountains of North Carolina. At seventeen, she hit the road and moved to New York City, where she lives to this day. Kirsten's first adult novel, The Change, is a feel-good feminist revenge fantasy and was selected by The Guardian, Prima, and Woman & Home in their ‘Books of Year’ round ups. Lula’s Little Library of Banned Books is her second adult novel, and explores book banning and those brave enough to stand up against this censorship.

• Set in a small Southern US town, LULA DEAN’S LITTLE LIBRARY OF BANNED BOOKS is about the town’s effort to ban certain books and the uprising against this censorship. Full of timely and important themes, all wrapped up in terrific satirical and genuinely funny storytelling. • An important contribution to the very real fight against book banning. Many high-profile celebs and authors have spoken out against book banning including Bonnie Garmus, Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, Sterling K Brown, Alan Cummings, Pink, and many more. • A classic in the making and would sit alongside novels such as FAHRENHEIT 451 and BRAVE NEW WORLD, as an exploration of political influence on contemporary culture. Additionally, book-themed satire is very much in the public consciousness, thanks to novels like YELLOWFACE and DEATH OF A BOOKSELLER, and the upcoming AMERICAN FICTION film. Opportunity to tap into this audience too. • Will appeal to those readers who are drawn to books about books. Anticipate high level of bookseller support and social media word-of-mouth based on the themes of book-banning and censorship. • In the novel, the townspeople read the banned books in secret – and this causes an uprising against the fascist mayoral candidate. Some of the banned books in the fictional town include The Diary of Anne Frank, Beloved, Are you there, God? It’s me, Margaret and Maus by Art Spiegelman. • THE CHANGE: Almost 30k copies sold across formats. A Bookseller Heatseeker in paperback. A Kindle Top 20 bestseller. An Apple Books audiobook of the week and a Top Five Apple Books bestseller. One of Apple’s Books of 2022, and included in Books the Year round-ups in PRIMA and WOMAN & HOME.

‘A story that’s as furious as it is tender’ EMILY HENRY on The Change *** From the author of The Change, comes a novel about book banning and those brave enough to stand up against this censorship. In Troy, Georgia, Lula Dean has decided to cleanse the town’s reading habits. All banned books have been removed from public spaces, and the townspeople are only allowed to read books Lula has deemed ‘appropriate’. But a small group refuse to be told what they can and can’t read. The revolution is coming . . . *** Praise for Kirsten Miller: ‘A roar of rage . . . I loved it’ MARIAN KEYES ‘I couldn’t put it down’ ERIN KELLY ‘Bewitching and satisfying’ THE INDEPENDENT Praise for Kirsten Miller and The Change: ‘A brilliant book. Taylor, THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS by Lisa Jewell and THE OTHER DAUGHTER by Shalini Boland. Heather thought she’d been left behind in life, until she won a place in the luxurious ‘Triple F’ lottery, where fame, fortune and followers await 12 lucky winners. CJ Parsons was born in Britain and grew up in Canada. She graduated from Montreal's McGill University with a degree in psychology and went on to earn a graduate degree in journalism. She worked as a newspaper reporter at Canada's Globe and Mail before moving to Hong Kong, where she became a columnist at the South China Morning Post.

The rules are simple: live the lifestyle of your dreams and win £5,000 a week for the rest of your life, plus six months of fame on the country’s most popular app – as long as you’re not bottom of the rankings. Lose your followers, and you lose everything. But there’s trouble in paradise. Too many winners are falling victim to tragedy: addiction, depression, even suicide. Someone, somewhere, seems to know their secrets, and is stirring up hatred online. And Heather has secrets of her own.

After returning to Britain, she moved into television news, working as a broadcast journalist for both the BBC and CNN International. She also spent two years covering crime, seeing first-hand the disturbing forces that drive people to kill, something that inspired her first novel, The Good Samaritan, published by Headline in November 2020.

• Beautifully captures many timely and socially relevant issues and themes in today’s society: complex relationships, office politics, workplace discrimination, life in your twenties, cancel culture, social media. • Perfect for fans of Sally Rooney, The Other Black Girl, Candice Carty-Williams and Maame. • Tembe is a beauty and culture editor for the New York magazine and you can find her on Instagram, with nearly 14k followers.

Tembe Denton-Hurst (known on the internets as @tembae) is a book-obsessed beauty and culture writer and author. She currently works as a staff writer at New York Magazine's The Strategist where she covers beauty, lifestyle, and books. When she’s not writing, Tembe can be found on her couch in Queens where she lives with her partner and their two cats Stella and Dakota.

‘Sharp, charming and passionate . . . It is this eye for the rhythms and textures of life — of millennial digital media, of the death by a thousand cuts offered by workplace racism, of Maryland suburbia — that makes this novel vivid and inviting’ New York Times Book Review *** She’s stayed quiet for too long. Now it’s time to speak her truth. Until twenty-four hours ago, Mickey Hayward was living the life she’d always dreamed of: - Working as a full-time writer for a trendy media company (tick) - In a committed, loving relationship (tick)

Homebodies is her debut novel. Now she’s fired, tossed aside for a younger, more ‘agreeable’ Black writer. Sick of always being overlooked and undervalued, she responds with an online letter detailing the racism she’s faced within the industry. But when it’s met with overwhelming silence, and her girlfriend suggests they go on a break, Mickey’s carefully crafted life starts to fall apart. As Mickey flees to her hometown, the simplicity of her old life – and the arms of an old flame – are all too tempting. But her life in New York refuses to be forgotten. And when a media scandal turns Mickey’s post into a viral sensation, suddenly everyone wants to hear what she has to say. It’s what Mickey’s always wanted – isn’t it? Intimate, witty, and deeply sexy, Homebodies is a testament to those trying to be heard and loved in a world that refuses to make space for them. *** Praise for Homebodies

Emotionally and politically resonant, this is not to be missed.’ Publishers Weekly
