Gennaro's Cucina
Gennaro Contaldo
•The UK has entered a cost of living crisis where families are more conscious than ever before of eating on a budget
•According to gov.uk, UK food prices are up 12.7% since July 2021
•More than a third of those whose cost of living has gone up have cut back spending on food; relying on basic ingredients and essentials to make mealtimes stretch further
In an era of excessive convenience and disposable food waste, Gennaro’s Cucina could not come at a better time – you will learn how to use simple ingredients in inventive ways, eat seasonally, spend less and ultimately eat better.
‘Cucina povera’ is the food that traditionally fed the poor of Italy yet remains the basis of most Italian dishes we love to eat today. It’s a simple philosophy – delicious, hearty meals using accessible and affordable ingredients. Encouraging an ethos of zero waste, Gennaro’s Cucina ensures that every part of the ingredient, and your budget, is put to good culinary use.
Along with the majority of post-war Italian families, a young Gennaro was raised on a diet harvested on a limited budget. Restricted choice of scarce ingredients meant they learnt the value what they had, how to cook dishes lovingly and use imaginative methods of preservation to make simple dishes go far: including salting, drying and curing.
In this inspirational cookbook, Gennaro takes you on a culinary journey of regional basic Italian staples and turns them into beautiful meals. With tips and ideas of what to do with leftovers, Gennaro helps home cooks squeeze maximum use from the ‘cucina povera’ ethos, turning humble ingredients into nourishing feasts without taste sacrifice.

These Delicious Things
Clerkenwell Boy and Magic Breakfast
•Clerkenwell Boy curated the fundraising cookbooks ‘#CookforSyria’ and ‘#BakeforSyria’; eventually, he will talk to us about #CookforUkraine which would be published in an effort to fundraise in support of Ukraine as they navigate the war conflict.
• 100% of profits from this project will be donated to MAGIC BREAKFAST, a charity that works with schools across England and Scotland to ensure that no child is too hungry to learn, by providing healthy breakfast food and expert support to help identify and reach those pupils at risk of hunger.
• MAGIC BREAKFAST works with over 1,000 Primary, Secondary and ASL/Special Educational Needs schools, plus Pupil Referral Units, offering breakfasts to over 200,000 children each school day. It costs just 34p for MAGIC BREAKFAST to provide a breakfast for a child, with the average cost of supporting one of their schools for a year at £5,138.
Clerkenwell Boy, who published the cookbooks #CookforSyria and #BakeforSyria, brings us THESE DELICIOUS THINGS: A Cook Book of Food Memories in support of MAGIC BREAKFAST to tackle childhood food poverty.
This book is an ode to the joys of eating, first and foremost – via a collection of food memories. It is a book of personal stories told by people who spend their lives cooking food, selling it, gathering it, writing about it, and just plain eating it. These are the histories behind dishes that mean something integral to the person who is writing; we’re talking the places, the sights, the sounds, and people that inspired them. Because, however delicious, a recipe only ever tells part of the story. The aim of this book is to bring alive the experiences of our contributors’ food memories, to share these intimate feasting moments, and to present them along with their recipes.
Yes, it’s a cookbook & more than that… it’s a story book, too.
There are 100+ recipes and stories and dishes from contributors, including: Yotam Ottolenghi, Angela Hartnett, Ken Hom, Fergus & Margot Henderson, Jamie Oliver, Sally Clarke, Mark Hix, Nigella Lawson, Heston Blumenthal, Jeremy Lee, Thomasina Miers, Skye Gyngell, Raymond Blanc, Ruthie Rogers, Itamar Srulovich, Felicity Cloake, Gill Meller, Merlin Labron-Johnson, Nathan Outlaw, Nieves Barragan, Alastair Little, Rose Prince, William Sitwell, Jose Pizarro, Claire Ptak, Melissa Thompson, Lee Tiernan, Richard Corrigan, Santiago Lastra, Melissa Hemsley, Paul Ainsworth, Stanley Tucci, Anna Jones, Ping Coombes and many more…

Diana Yates began her career in a fast-paced corporate supply chain and spent 10 years living and working in South Africa. In 2017, she and her family returned home to southern Scotland and bought Greenfields, an 18thcentury listed former manse with two acres of land. Diana is a regular presenter on the BBC’s gardening programme Beechgrove, and spends time every day developing her fruit and vegetable garden. She also runs a successful business making bespoke curtains, blinds and cushions. Growing at Greenfields is her first book.
Growing at Greenfields follows a year with Diana Yates in her garden in the picturesque Scottish Borders. She shows that anyone can raise their own veg, create a plant theatre, cook seasonally and decorate their home using home-grown dried or fresh flowers. You don’t need a grand house or huge plot, by the way – her veg are all grown in a raised bed, her potatoes are in sacks, and her plant theatre created using pots.
Guided by the seasons, there are helpful checklists of essential garden tasks, advice on seeds and cuttings, how to store your precious produce, planting for wildlife and more. Also included are projects for indoors and out, such as making a potager, crafting an autumn wreath, growing peas in guttering and making your own calendula balm. Diana also shares her favourite garden-to-table family recipes so you can show off your produce, from Garlic Scape Pesto to Comforting Cauliflower Soup. Pert as a rosebud and blousy as a dahlia, Ranunculus asiatica is the flower of the moment. From ancestors that grew wild in the eastern Mediterranean, these Persian buttercups have been bred and selected to create fully double blooms; with layers of delicate, tissue-paper petals sculpted to perfection and available in a range of colours to suit any occasion.
The buttercup family is a huge and diverse one, however, and the genus Ranunculus contains not just these exotic florists’ darlings, but a whole range of their close relatives too. Some are familiar: when fields and lawns are sprinkled with golden meadow buttercups, we can be sure that spring has arrived. Yet there are also rare mountain blooms, perched on crags and fed by the melting snow, and forms of Ranunculus that thrive in pond margins or flourish in fast-flowing streams.
Naomi Slade explores the world of buttercups, from their wild origins to their most successfully cultivated and most popular forms. Some are easy to grow, some less so, and this book offers tips and advice to help the reader embrace not just those near-wild forms that lend themselves to naturalistic planting schemes, and the exquisite, collectible alpines, but also the brilliant, desirable, Persian buttercups that are so perfect for cutting and arranging.

Exquisite and sumptuous, immaculately tailored, dignified but, above all, practical. The wardrobe of Queen Elizabeth II was as equally distinctive in terms of style as it was unique in her position. This remarkable book is a fond reflection of the days when her Majesty led the way in terms of fashion, showcasing some of the world's best designers.
At every appearance, as the world looked on, the impeccable outfits of Queen Elizabeth II were at the centre of keen discussion and excited debate. This sartorial biography celebrates Her Majesty as a much-loved and timeless style icon. Showcasing the best of the world’s designers, including Norman Hartnell, Hardy Amies and Ian Thomas, it also tells us much about the times she reigned in.
Journey through the decades to discover classic designs with nipped-in waists and full skirts, strong tailored silhouettes, as well rather more floaty and relaxed styles from the 70s, all worn by The Queen, who always dressed with dignity and poise for the world stage.
Charting her progress from glamorous, wasp-waisted style icon to majestic Head of State, Queen Elizabeth II: A Lifetime Dressing for the World Stage is a tailored legacy of immaculate poise and dignified design. From the practical clothes for her beloved outdoor pursuits to exquisite and sumptuous gowns, her personal style reflected cultural and social changes over nine decades and reveals a rare understanding of the value of impeccable dressing.
With stunning formal portraits and candid photography, discover the careful work that underpinned the royal wardrobe and celebrate the legacy of Her Majesty The Queen’s timeless style.

Rescue Dogs
Sally Muir
•Sally’s dog portraits have featured in the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition
•In 2016, Sally collaborated with Anthropologie to create a successful collection of dog-themed crockery and textiles
Following the success of A Dog a Day and Old Dogs, Sally Muir returns with an adorable collection of beautiful rescue dog portraits that will melt even the coldest of hearts.
Several years ago, Sally Muir began a Facebook project, posting dog art daily, which became the best-selling book A Dog a Day. Through the project she was introduced to endless people and their dogs, and the distinct personalities and complex emotions that owners attribute to them. This was followed with Old Dogs, where Sally asked the public to send in photos of their elderly canines. She was drawn to the tales behind their greying whiskers and so the natural next step was rescue dogs with their eventful life stories.
Rescue Dogs is a beautiful collection of loveable hounds with colourful histories and expressive faces. From Mr Bojangles who was rescued after being hit by a car to Molly who found a new lease of life after being rescued from a shelter at age 15, Rescue Dogs will tug at the heartstrings and leave you with a profound sense of optimism for life, new beginnings and kindness. This is the perfect gift for your dog-loving friends, or for yourself to enjoy some mindful moments flicking through delightful, heart-warming canine portraits.

Literary Landscapes: Paris takes this major European city and with picture perfect photography, compiles an album of memorable views linked to the words of Parisian authors, or writers who made Paris their home. It looks at places where books were written, discussed over dinner, and where ultimately the books are sold.

There are the theatres of Molière, Dumas and Beaumarchais along with the incredible Palais Garnier opera house and the legend of Le Fantome by Gaston Leroux.
There are the revered bookshops of the Latin Quarter including the idiosyncratic Shakespeare & Co.
There are the classic grand structures referenced in Victor Hugo novels (and still there) or the mean streets of George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris.
There are the famous cafes where authors gathered and wrote, or where artists and philosophers argued: Les Deux Magots, Café de Flore, Le Procope, La Closerie des Lilas, Prunier, Le Dôme, La Rotonde and Le Select.
There are the bouquinistes ranged in their green booths along the Seine, as once tended by Jean Genet. And there is the classic expatriate Paris of Joyce, Stein, Wilde, Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Beat poets.
Literary Landscapes: Paris takes readers on an exclusive cultural journey, introduced by one of the city’s most engaging tourist guides.

Colin Salter
• The follow-on book from the author of Remarkable Road Trips and Remarkable Bicycle
Rides
• A bucket-list-inducing collection of 50 of the world’s most spectacular trails, beautifully illustrated in detail with over 3750 photos
Remarkable Treks is a compendium of exhilarating walks from around the planet – some lasting weeks, some lasting just a few days, but all of them set against spectacular backdrops.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/221220161538-f72490b855d813b2d7227681b3213a76/v1/db6bf512bf369128b006183986ca650f.jpeg)
Following the same format as the award winning Remarkable Road Trips and Remarkable Bike Rides, Colin Salter has assembled 52 of the world's top-rated trails.
The treks range in length from one-day hikes, to three-day hikes, to walks of almost expeditionary length. Thankfully, some of the longer routes, such as the Continental Divide Trail in North America, which traverses the Rockies from Mexico to Canada, can be split up into sections.
However for completists there are smaller challengers, such as the Pennine Way in England, which is never too far away from civilization, and by civilization we mean the pub.
For the thrill-seeking backpackers there are the craggy peaks of Corsica (GR20 – which carries the ominous warning ‘some scrambling required’), or the hike up to Everest Base Camp.
And for history buffs there is the Inca Trail in Peru or the 5-day hike to the Lost City of Teyuna in Colombia. Treks include: Samaria Gorge – Crete, Lycian Way – Turkey, Camino De Santiago –Spain, Routeburn Track – New Zealand, Laugavegur – Iceland, Torres Del Paine – Chile, Overland Track – Australia, Kungsleden – Sweden, West Highland Way – Scotland, John Muir Trail – USA, Alta Via 1 – Italy, Haute Route Pyrennes– Spain/France, Drakensberg Grand Traverse – South Africa, Western Way – Ireland, Via Dinerica – Albania/Bosnia/Croatia/Kosovo, GR221 Dry Stone Route –Majorca, Chilkoot Trail – USA/Canada, Toukbal Circuit – Morocco, Tour of the Matterhorn –Switzerland, Wadi Rum and Petra – Jordan.

Andrew Davies has always liked cats, ever since he collaborated with David Watts to produce The Thoughts of Chairman Miaow (2005) a unique combination of strident communist party posters and ickle pussy cats, presided over by the omniscient Miaow. He followed this up with the 300,000-selling When I Were A Lad series based on vintage photos of street kids, the last of which saw meerkats substituted for children. In Sweary Cats he gives voice to the pent-up anger and frustrations of domestic cats and their dealings with stupid, feckless, penny-pinching humans.
Sweary Cats
Andrew Davies
• A perfect gift for the cat lover/cat owner/cat sitter who’s always wondered what their cat was thinking.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/221220161538-f72490b855d813b2d7227681b3213a76/v1/20118688515d611033133d47e74d7721.jpeg)
• Beautifully photographed by top pet photographers
• A ground-breaking cat book that will have universal interest plus the appeal of carrying a parental advisory warning.
Underneath that chilled exterior is a potty-mouthed mouser ready to let rip. Sweary Cats features over 60 fabulous felines itching and scratching to tell it like it is, either through withering sarcasm or deeply insulting remarks.
Cats may have a reputation for being passive and chilled, but the phrase ‘cool for cats’ couldn’t be further from the truth. Cats are some of the angriest animals in the pet kingdom, they’re just very very good at hiding it.
For the first time Sweary Cats reveals the true emotions bubbling under the surface in cats’ anxious lives, whether it’s the failure to receive a variety of moist pouches, getting dressed up in costumes for their owner’s Christmas cards, or being taken to the vets – again.
Over 60 different cats reveal their frank thoughts on a variety of topics from fine dining to The Sound of Music – there’s no holding back when the claws are out. All kinds of domestic scenes are covered; cats in the bedroom, cats in the kitchen, cats in trees, cats in pipelines, cats leading orchestras and the inevitable cat sticking its nose in the litter tray.
The pictures may be cute in their own right, but commentary from Andrew Davies adds a hilarious dimension to these fractious felines.

Dolly’s Wit & Wisdom punctuates the book, offering an insight into ‘the living legend’ – what makes her so likeable, why she is considered a queer icon, as well as valuable life advice on love, fashion and femininity to ensure you're as successful as ‘Saint Dolly’ herself.
