Jerry Flannery CEO and General Manager Happy New Year! We at HRCA hope that the New Year is filled with health and prosperity for all. Get 2020 started off right by keeping your resolution to get fit and healthy.
Events and Activities: With New Year Resolutions comes a high volume of visitation at our recreation centers. Programs are gearing up for an influx of registrants so make sure you get in early so you don’t miss out on a spot. This month brings the Winter Cultural Series on Thursday January 9 and January 23 at the Cherry Hills Community Church Chapel. Opera Colorado and the Irish Heritage Step Dancers are sure to be a hit. Also exciting this month is the Superheroes Unite! Party! on January 18, Family Magic Show on January 17, and the Chinese New Year Celebration on January 25.
Payment Reminder and Assessment Increase: Please remember to pay your first quarter assessment dues by January 1 for the new quarterly amount of $155.72. For business owners and qualifying homes that pay only the Administrative Assessment, the Annual Feel of $61.20 is also due on January 1. Customers who are signed up for Auto Pay with PayLease will not need to make any changes to their accounts. The new amount will be automatically updated. All other customers will need to update their payments accordingly.
Volunteer Opportunities: If one of your New Year’s Resolutions is volunteerism, HRCA has opportunities available. The deadline to submit applications for the Board election is January 24. The Board is a 5-member governing body that oversees the HRCA operations. The Board meets twice monthly and as needed throughout the year. The Delegates will elect three Board Members on Tuesday, March 10. Also available are Delegate positions. Eightyone Delegates currently represent the different subdivisions throughout Highlands Ranch. Delegates attend a monthly meeting to be informed about community issues and vote on a variety of governing documents including the budget and bylaws. Delegates are elected by the homeowners in their own subdivisions. The deadline for candidate names to be printed on election documents is February 27. More information about volunteer opportunities and the election process are available on our web site at www.HRCAonline.org/Leadership. Member Education: For this quarter I would like to share some information about the differences between the Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) and the Highlands Ranch Metro District (HRMD). We often get questions from homeowners about the different functions of the two organizations. Perhaps the main difference between our two organizations is that HRMD serves as the local government in our community. They are funded by tax dollars and provide many of the municipal services offered in Highlands Ranch. Some examples of HRMD services include construction of public utilities such as roads, light signals and street lights; landscaping and fencing; trails and parks; outdoor sports programming and, through Centennial Water and Sanitation District, their sister public organization, water/sewer services. In contrast, HRCA serves the homeowners in Highlands Ranch through the quarterly assessment dues that are paid by each household. With the assessment dollars HRCA maintains and operates the four recreation centers; provides architectural control and covenant enforcement for more than 30,000 homes in the Ranch; manages the Backcountry Wilderness area, and hosts over 100 community events every year.
2020 Budget/hrca The annual budget for the Highlands Ranch Community Association, Inc. (HRCA) is a financial and operational document that is designed to carry out the obligations of HRCA. The annual budget also follows the policies of the board of directors, which reflects the requests for services and facilities by the members. The HRCA budget anticipates the level of services to be provided, the costs of doing so, and the funds that will be available to provide these services. The complete 2020 budget is online at www.HRCAonline.org/Budget.
