Talking trash The HRCA partners with Pro Disposal to bring a preferredprovider opt-in trash program in Highlands Ranch. The goal is to provide valuable service at a lower cost while championing environmental stewardship and sustainability. The home owners benefit from this program because they receive significant savings and are provided free recycling pickup while limiting the number of trucks on our streets each day. Jump on board with Pro Disposal and be a part of our community's green initiatives. Call 303-791-3827 for more information and prices or visit our web site at www.HRCAonline.org/Trash.

Put a lid on it, and curb it! Please remember to keep your trash tightly covered in sealed containers or bags and upright at the curb (not the sidewalk) on trash days. Remember to return your trash cans to appropriate storage after trash pick up.

Erin go Bragh! Those words will certainly be shared with the crowd at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day 5K run on March 17. Another fun event, the Easter Egg Hunt, is being held on March 31. Grab your little ones and their Easter Egg Basket and have them hunt for over 25,000 eggs and meet the Easter Bunny at Northridge Park. The hunt begins at 10:00 a.m. sharp! We may be seeing more green in our landscape now, so take a moment to see if Mother Nature has created any new home improvement projects for you. Make sure to follow the appropriate covenant guidelines before getting started on that home improvement project.

Association Covenant Guidelines: We choose to live in a covenant community for many reasons. A major one is to keep our property values high to continue to make Highlands Ranch the best place in Colorado to live. The HRCA works diligently to help maintain home values by enforcing the residential improvement guidelines of the community. A few things to keep in mind for this time of year are the timely removal of seasonal decorations; the cleanup and removal of trash, debris and construction material from the outside of your home; proper placement of trash cans in the curb (not the sidewalk) on trash day, and returning to proper storage after pick up; the proper approval for commercial vehicles and appropriate storage of recreational vehicles at off site locations. And finally, the removal of snow from your sidewalk within 24 hours of a storm. Show your pride of ownership and keep your home and yard well maintained and in top shape.

Board Election: March is the month for our Board of Director’s Election. This year three seats are open and we have five applicants. All of their service to the community is much appreciated and we look forward to working with the winners to make Highlands Ranch an even better place to live, work, and play!

Volunteers Needed to Serve as Delegates: There are several vacancies this year and we are looking for volunteers to serve. The Delegates meet monthly to get updates about community events and projects, vote on several issues such as the Bylaws and the Annual Budget, and elect the Board of Directors. See more election information on page 3.

Northridge Grand Opening: We are excited to share that the Northridge Recreation Center renovation is finally complete. HRCA celebrated the grand re-opening with a ribbon cutting and celebration on February 16 that gave us a chance to welcome residents back. Make sure to visit our oldest (and newest) recreation center and enjoy some of our exciting new amenities. Improvements include new hot yoga and martial arts studios, expanded fitness area and studio, golf simulator and new entrance. Sports and Fitness programing is already available, so sign up for a class today! I want to say a huge "thank you" to all of the facility, maintenence, and leadership staff - especially Ken Joseph, Mark Gunther, Steve Lang and Dan Montague, who played a key role in making this project happen and keeping Northridge up and running during construction.

Community News HRCA Approval of Spring Projects As the weather warms up, residents may be making plans for home improvement projects, either in landscaping or on the home itself. Make sure you keep your property compliant with HRCA guidelines by properly submitting your landscaping or home improvement project for HRCA approval through the Community Improvement Services Department. What kinds of projects need HRCA approval? A good rule to go by is to ask yourself, “Does this project change the appearance of my property in any way?” If the answer is yes, then you should submit the project for approval. Examples of projects that need approval are painting, replacing windows or doors, roofing, installing or changing decks, patios, fences, retaining walls or walkways, etc. If you are unsure whether your project requires approval, call the CIS Department at 303-471-8821, we are happy to help! You may submit your project in person in the Administrative Offices at the Eastridge Recreation Center, or visit us online at www.HRCAonline.org/covenants.
