Celebrating 35 years!

Get More! Get Green!

Get Green! The HRCA strives daily to become more energy efficient and green. So, just what is the HRCA doing to achieve this objective? To achieve this objective, the HRCA:

• uses energy efficient lighting and motion sensors in all recreation centers to consume less energy • recycles electronics, paper, plastics, dry cell phone batteries, and aluminum • relies on solar panels at Eastridge and Westridge to decrease electricity usage • uses mulching mowers and rain sensors • maintains a Xeriscape Demonstration Garden at Eastridge • grows native grasses around Southridge • depends on high efficiency HVAC to maintain comfortable inside environment In addition, the recently completed Energy Saving Project which included building control, pool systems, and HVAC will save the HRCA approximately $173,000 per year in utility cost, which is equivalent to the reduction of 6.4 million vehicle miles driven.

Get HRCA! HRCA board members re-elected At the March 15 Annual Meeting of Delegates, the HRCA Delegates re-elected Scott Lemmon, Melissa Park and Dennis Seymour to serve another two-year term. We would like to congratulate them on their successful re-election. These three directors join Jeff Suntken and Brock Norris as the HRCA’s Board. For more information about the HRCA’s leadership go to www.HRCAonline.org/Leadership.

HRCA has an agreement for preferred trash and solar providers to increase efficiency and save residents money. Pro Disposal, Highlands Ranch’s preferred trash provider, offers free single-stream recycling and saves gas by collecting trash two days a week rather than five. The most common recycled items are aluminum, glass, paper, plastic, steel, newspaper, corrugated cardboard, and glass containers. Sunpower® by Photon

Brothers, the preferred solar provider, not only gives back to the HRCA for each homeowner who purchases solar panels, but offers a green alternative to lowering resident’s electric bills. You, as a resident, can lessen your footprint on the environment. The HRCA’s Residential Improvement Guidelines (RIGs) allows for the use of clothes lines, shutters, wind turbines, and solar panels. You can opt out of paper copies of HRCA News and the Activity Guide and receive them electronically, join recycle events such as the Tri-County Household Chemical Roundup and the HRCA’s Computer/Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding events, install low volume toilets and water saving showerheads, water when the turf needs it rather than on a fixed schedule and Xeriscape.
